Health Sciences Certificate

Are you interested in pursuing a career in healthcare? The growth and development of health professions, as well as, the changes in health care, require the health care provider be multi-skilled and well prepared. This certificate is designed to provide the general education competencies necessary prior to entering an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing, Radiography, or Emergency Medical Services Technology.

Program Length 1 year (2 semesters)

Career Opportunities Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Information Literacy, Developmental Psychology, Medical Terminology and others.

G3 Eligible This program is G3 eligible. G3 Scholarships cover tuition and fees for Virginia residents of modest income who are pursuing high demand careers.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

Elizabeth Fairbanks is an experienced Biology and Anatomy & Physiology instructor at Virginia Highlands Community College, with over 16 years of college-level teaching experience. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Emory & Henry College, Master’s of Science in Education with a concentration in Biology at Radford University and post-graduate coursework completed at the University of Florida.
