Associate of Applied Science Degree A human services degree teaches you how to help people improve people’s lives. As a human services specialist, your primary function will be to help individuals better manage the challenges, trials, and difficulties in their lives. This program provides an interdisciplinary knowledge base for employment in the human services field or transfer to a four-year college. Graduates may find employment at group homes or halfway houses; community mental health centers; correctional facilities; treatment programs for alcoholism, drug abuse, family violence; plus programs for special populations.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll

save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

Dr. Winona Fleenor has an extensive teaching career in the social sciences and human services. In addition to teaching, she has community service experience in the field, volunteering in many different capacities and serving on numerous community boards and committees.
