Der Katalog zeigt den Wandel des Mutterbildes von 1900 bis heute und die Verschiebung des Blicks der Kinder auf ihre Mütter. Er stellt die Optimierungslogik heutiger Lebensentwürfe zur Diskussion und macht Hoffnung auf eine Wende: Immer mehr Frauen mit Kindern widersetzen sich den komplexen, oft stressigen Anforderungen des Alltags, hinterfragen ihre Lebenswelt zwischen Karriere, Kindern und Konsum.
The catalog showcases not only shifts in the stereotypes of motherhood from 1900 to today but also the changes in the perspective from which children see their mothers. It calls into question the optimization logic of today’s life designs and nurtures the hope of change: an ever greater number of women with children opt out of the complex, often stressful regime of everyday life, refusing to accept their lifeworld between career, children, and consumption as preordained.

David Reed The Mirror and the Pool
Für das Museum Haus Lange konzipierte David Reed eine ortsspezifische Arbeit in Form eines einzigen Gemäldes, das in alle Ausstellungsräume übergreift. In Interaktion mit der Architektur von Mies van der Rohe sowie mit Yves Kleins immateriellem Raum Le Vide (1961), kreierte Reed ein irritierendes Bildpanorama aus Spiegelungen, Repetitionen und räumlichen Entgrenzungen.
David Reed has devised a completely new, site-specific work for Museum Haus Lange, Krefeld, in the form of one single painting, extending through all of the exhibition spaces. While simultaneously interacting with Mies van der Rohe’s architecture and Yves Klein’s immaterial space Le Vide (1961), he created a bewildering pictorial panorama made up of mirrorings, repetitions, and erased spatial boundaries.

Für die Ausstellung im Kunstraum Dornbirn präsentieren die Brüder Christoph und Markus Getzner eine für den Ort geschaffene Installation mit Objekten und Tafelbildern. Die verwendeten Materialien sind meist recyclebare Stoffe wie Papier, Holz, Wachs und Beton, die sowohl an Kreisläufe und Zyklen in Hinblick auf biologische Prozesse im Naturablauf erinnern als auch auf soziologische und gesellschaftspolitische Strukturen verweisen und philosophische Fragen zur menschlichen Existenz aufwerfen.
For the exhibition at Kunstraum Dornbirn, brothers Christoph and Markus Getzner present a site-specific installation with objects and panel paintings. They tend to use recyclable materials such as paper, wood, wax, and concrete that draw our attention to cycles qua biological processes in nature while also referencing sociological and sociopolitical structures and asking philosophical questions about human existence.

Der 1934 in Prag geborene Filmemacher, Künstler und Poet Jan Švankmajer zeigt Objekte, surreale, an historische Natursammlungen und Tierpräparate erinnernde Artefakte, sowie Zeichnungen, die bei näherer Betrachtung rasch als „absurde“ Wesen erkennbar werden. Neben literarischen Inspirationen schöpft Jan Švankmajer seine Themen gerne aus Natur und Naturgeschichte. Das andauernde Projekt seiner „unsystematischen Anatomie“ bildet den Höhepunkt dieser kritischironischen Auseinandersetzung mit Natur und Evolution.
Born in 1934 in Prague, filmmaker, artist, and poet Jan Švankmajer presents objects, surreal artefacts reminiscent of collections on natural history and preserved animals, as well as drawings that on closer inspection swiftly turn out to be “absurd” creatures. Alongside finding inspiration from literature, Jan Švankmajer also turns to nature and natural history for his subject matter. His ongoing project on an “unsystematic anatomy” is the culmination of this critical and ironic inquiry into nature and evolution.

Das Letzte im Leben Einträge zu Sterben und Trauer 1765 bis heute Bis heute erinnern die Prunkräume der Innsbrucker Hofburg an den Tod von Kaiser Franz Stephan von Lothringen, der dort 1765 plötzlich verstarb. The catalog transports readers into a building that is in different aggregate states. On the basis of texts and footprints, the impression emerges that the edifice presented, which is sealed on the outside, is a sort of “Noah’s Ark for things”, an archive, or a collector’s house. In each chapter of the book, Gunstheimer sketches out a room in the rambling building.
