OPLAN SAGIP AGOSTO PRESS RELEASE CARING FOR THE COMMUNITY: DALTA GROUP OF COMPANIES’ RELIEF AND MEDICAL MISSION

Heavy rains and flood brought by the wrath of southwest monsoon that hit Metro Manila, Southern and Central Luzon left almost 2.5 Million Filipinos affected; death toll reached 66 and 384,000 families had to seek shelter in evacuation centers.

True to its mission to help and assist our countrymen, the DALTA Group of Companies through the University of Perpetual Help System (UPHS) and the University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center (UPHDMC) as the 1st AFP Affiliated Reserve Medical Center (AFP ARMC) immediately responded to this national call. Spearheaded by its Commander, DALTA and JONELTA Group of Companies Chairman and CEO, Dr./BGen. Antonio L. Tamayo together with UPHDMC President, Maj. Richard Antonio Tamayo, in coordination with The Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), “Oplan Sagip Agosto” was formed and activated deploying the first rescue and medical team of 33 Reservists and volunteers on August 7, 2012 during the height of the heavy rains and flood. “Our commitment shall remain strong in supporting and helping our community and our countrymen, especially during national emergencies.” Dr. /BGen. Tamayo said. The 1st AFP ARMC to date has conducted 13 Rescue and Relief Operations and Medical Missions in the following areas: Fairview and Commonwealth in Quezon City, Barangay Concepcion Marikina, San


Mateo Rizal, Barangay Banalo Bacoor, Cavite, Barangays Lingga and Masili in Calamba Laguna, as well as in Mercado de Calamba, Munitinlupa City (Tunasan, Putatan, Landayan) and Binan, Laguna (De laPaz -main and west).

More than 3,000 evacuees and patients were checked and were provided with

medicines by the Medical Team, most of which were children. The 1st AFP ARMC also helped in the re-packing of donations/goods

at

the

National

Resource

Operations Center of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Pasay City from August 8-15, 2012 for distribution to the different families affected by the calamity. A total of 344 employees and volunteers were deployed for this mission. “It is in sharing our expertise, time and resources that we are able to give back to the community. It gives us great pride that we are able to help our countrymen during these trying times.� Dr. /BGen. Tamayo said.
