Falkland flag effort lives on The people of Falkland weren’t fooling around when they chose April 1 to launch their I Care campaign in 1991. And that tradition of Canadian patriotism will continue again this year. “On Thursday, the gate at the corner of Gyp and Lynes roads will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those that wish to join in the walk up to the flag on the mountain above town,” said organizer Fran Nikon. The campaign was launched 19 years ago because very few Canadian flags were flown at the time. “The campaign has always been a people thing to show they care about what happens to the country and the people in all parts of Canada,” said Nikon. “No politicians or government grants have been involved. The idea was that patriotism comes from the heart, not the wallet.”

Village Green Mall is hosting an Easter party April 3. With the help of Trendz Kitz - Build Your Buddy staff, children can participate in workshops in the mall’s centre court where they get to select, adopt and stuff a new plush buddy and then carry them home in a custom case. The hourly workshops begin at 10 a.m., with the last one occurring at 2 p.m. “To participate, children need to have a party pass for the hourly workshop they wish to attend,” said Heather Rawsthorne, mall marketing director. “Party passes will be distributed on a first-
