HUMOR

The following was presented to the Anchor by Dr. J . B. Nykerk with the hope t h a t all Hope College s t u d e n t s who are of voting age would reconsider their choice of presidential candidates before voting. The time has come again when we m u s t select a pilot f o r this g r e a t United S t a t e s of America. As intelligent men and women, we are obligated to pick our candidate seriously and conscientiously. The need f o r a good president is especially u r g e n t today and for this reason I h a v e consented to run a f t e r much u r g i n g by my friends. I feel it my d u t y to take over the reins of the government and it is your duty to help me execute my duty. I am sure t h a t you will a g r e e with me when I say t h a t I am fully equipped to fill the president's chair. F i r s t of all, as in the case of all g r e a t presidents, I was born in a small village, namely, Overisel. If they had had n e w s p a p e r s a t that time I am ^ure t h a t I would have begun my c a r e e r as a newsboy. My family w a s poor for I w a s born without shoes on. However, t h r o u g h persistence I elevated myself to my present s t a t i o n . 1 am a capable leader and I do not mean only in the s i n g i n g of hymns. If it had not been for me the Bush and L a n e Piano Company would have failed long before it did. 1 gave i m p e t u s to the h a i r - r e s t o r e r industry. In all of these activities
