The r e s i g n a t i o n s of the e d i t o r and the staff w e r e w i t h d r a w n a f t e r the " p o w - w o w , " but a peace pipe was not smoked as the c a m p u s cannot be used f o r such t h i n g s . HOLLAND CHAPTER ATTENDS BANQUET The Holland c h a p t e r of t h e N a t i o n a l H o n o r S o c i e t y of Seco n d a r y Schools met f o r its a n n u a l b a n q u e t in t h e m a i n d i n i n g room of the Warm Friend Tavern, Thursd a y , D e c e m b e r 27, a t 0:30. A delicious d i n n e r w a s s e r v e d , c o n s i s t i n g of p o t a t o e s , chicken, s a l a d , pickles, c a k e , pineapple juice, ice c r e a m , coffee and rolls. Music w a s in c h a r g e of J a c k V a n d e r Meulen, who p l a y e d s e v e r a l s e l e c t i o n s on his violin, a c c o m panied by R u t h Van Oss. chapter, attended the first national convention of the Blue Key Honor fraternity, which was held in Chic a g o at the La Salle hotel on Dec. 28 and 29. That he w a s an able representative of Hope is a t t e s t e d by the fact that he w a s appointed chairman of t w o of the nine comm i t t e e s which carried on the work of the convention, and a member of the Credentials c o m m i t t e e , which determined the s t a t u s of the delegates present. Alton (i. Alley, a f a m e d lect u r e r and t r a v e l e r . A f t e r b e i n g introduced by P r e s i d e n t Wichers, L i e u t . Alley discussed E u r o p e a n a f f a i r s d u r i n g the p a s t y e a r . Beg i n n i n g his speech by s t a t i n g t w o f a c t s t h a t a r e n e c e s s a r y f o r peace a n d law a b i d i n g c o m m u n i t i e s , n a m e l y , law a b i d i n g i n s t i t u t i o n s a n d law a b i d i n g c i t i z e n s , he w e n t on and vividly p i c t u r e d t h e o u t s t a n d i n g e v e n t s t h a t o c c u r r e d in E u r o p e d u r i n g 1934.
