mawunmi Mgbele took a step to follow her dreams. She enrolled for the West African Idol contest and came second. On this platform, she launched herself and has successfully positioned herself as a leading artiste, recognised in the sub-region and beyond. She took a leap of faith and it worked. Glamsquad, Nigeria's First Fashion Police, debuts on Tv in October BY REMMY DIAGBARE

lamsquad', Nigeria's version of 'Fashion Police', a programme broadcast on America's E! Entertainment Television is set to debut on Silverbird Television in October. The programme, which enjoys large following all over the world, including Nigeria, features co-hosts Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos commenting on celebrity fashion. Just like 'Fashion Police', the half-hour talk show will be televised before a live audience and will critique and discuss the dos and don'ts of fashion in Nigeria. The show will not only focus on Nigerian celebrities, it will also cover all socialites and wannabes. 'Glamsquad', however, has a comedy undertone and is positioned to pioneer and redefine fashion and style in Nigeria. The show is to be co-hosted by four fashion
forward ladies: Latasha Ngwube, Contributing Editor of Vanguard Allure; Odun Ogunbiyi, Fashion Editor for Today's Woman magazine; Miss Pearl, a business consultant who writes a column for Vanguard Allure; and, Wunika Mukan, a seasoned broadcaster from Washington DC. Other 'Glamsquad' crew members include Jide Omidiran as Director, Bayode Ojo as Script and Content Consultant, Adeyinka Akingbade as Creative Design Consultant, Chalya Shagaya as Set Designer, Tayo Shonekan as Stylist and Bola Fadina as Beauty Consultant. The show which promises to be a hit was recorded live at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos and is a production put together by Latasha Ngwube , Associate Producer and Director, Jide Omidiran, with post production by Blackwell Studio.
Just like its American version, there will be guest appearances from notable personalities and celebrities to keep the audience entertained. Various segments of the show include “Airbags”- which will look at how much cleavage celebrities reveal in their outfits; and, “Who Wore it Better” will compare how two or more stars wearing the same outfit turn out in the opinion of the panelists and one of the stars will be declared the winner. “Hit or Miss” will analyse a photograph of a celebrity in order to point out the 'hits' or 'misses' of the person in the picture; how revealing or disheveled their clothing is. Other segments include “O.T.T” (Over The Top) the panelists will x-ray celebrities who overdress in a bid to make a fashion statement but unconsciously commit a fashion faux-pax. Believe it or not, this is where the panelists critique weaves. The programme, Latasha says, would be interactive as lucky viewers would be invited once a month for complete makeover during the programme. Glamsquad is not intended to slam celebrities and socialites. It has been packaged to critique, correct and make its targets aware of the fashion statements they make. Many people see men and women in the public eye as role models hence Glamsquad wants to create cultural relevance in style, fashion and awareness. Glamsquad is here to fill the missing link in the fashion-showbiz world in Nigeria. Glamsquad is one programme many are waiting to see. It promises to be an exciting time for television viewers in the next quarter.

he faces of Didi Ocheja, Michelle Dede and Fade Jimi Ogunro will soon hit your TV screen as presenters for a new TV magazine show, Glam TV Report. While Didi has worked in the background in style related businesses, Michelle's face is not new on TV and Tade has been until now, a radio presenter. All young and fiercely fashionable, these three beautiful ladies are set to uncover power brokers in the fashion and style industry when Glam TV Report debuts in October.
I'm bringing my personality on — Fade Jimi Ogunro PRESENTING IS NOT NEW TO YOU BUT WHAT ARE YOU BRINGING ON IN THIS NEW CHALLENGE? I'm in the media already as a presenter for beat FM and a lot of people think if you have a pretty face you'd sell on TV. I specifically chose Glam Report TV because it is intelligent, and it cuts across a wider range of audience. I'm not here to interview Wiz kid or Banky W or to ask the common question, what are you wearing? Rather, we want to find out, who created what you are wearing and why he did? So what I am bringing to the show is a lot of wildness. I am the crazy one who wears vintage clothes, bright colours etc. I am very experimental with what I wear and that I feel is an extension of my personality as well. HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS FASHION AND STYLE IN NIGERIA? In Nigeria, fashion changes every month. Every designer brings out a new collection twice a year. Fashion for me is very trendy. Nigerian women are very fashionable. However, there is a huge difference between fashion and style. You can look at a picture of a woman taken in the 50s and say she looks great and not because she is colour blocking or clashing print or wearing Ankara. All you see is someone stylish. Style is, knowing what suits. What suits you can take

you through whatever decade, and whatever occasion. Style is very individualistic. However, I think we definitely have to be a bit more informed. There are some do's and don'ts that I see reiterated throughout all fashion magazines but for some reasons some of us get it, some don't. So my segment on the new show will address all these. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Asking for my individual style is like asking what my favourite colour is. I don't really have one. I wake up in the morning and if pink looks good on me, I go for it. It could be sunny and yellow will look good. But when it comes to style, the first thing I think about is my shoes. I pick my shoes first and then pick my clothes. But because I work on a day to day basis, comfort dictates my style. With a pair of jeans, a pair of trainers and probably with a scarf on my head or baseball cap and sunglasses, I'm good to go. I don't wear make up during the day. I like to give that drama so that when you then see me made up in the evening on the red carpet then it's a completely different look. I can wear designer shoes, I can wear top shop. I'm not really a brand person. I know my body shape, I know my skin tone and I know what looks good on me.

I think one of the things that was very important to me when Bola Balogun, the creator of this show approached me, was that it was smart. I believe in knowledge and I believe in sharing knowledge. Knowledge is power and if you equip people with knowledge, then they can go very far. So I'm bringing on knowledge, I have a lot of knowledge in certain aspects of lifestyle. I understand how the business works. So I am bringing on glamour because it is glam TV. I also believe I am bringing on inspiration. HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS FASHION AND LIFESTYLE IN NIGERIA? I think it's very evident. Fashion and style have always been a part
of our culture. The way we look and live, is very important to us as a people. But in modern times, it is becoming part of the business world which didn't use to be. We didn't look at it as a viable business. We are now getting to a point in our society where the young people are now going into fashion and life style related business as a way of earning an income. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? I think my style is very feminine. I'm very lady-like with a bit of edge.
I am bringing excitement on this show — Michelle Dede PRESENTING IS NOT NEW TO YOU BUT WHAT ARE YOU BRINGING ON IN THIS NEW CHALLENGE? My enthusiasm I hope. One of the reasons Bola hired me is because she thought I had the experience. I can't say I have all the experience because I've always felt I am learning on the job. I learnt on the job when I did Big Brother, I learnt something new when I did the MTN Family Game Show. Every time I did an MC job or present, I'm always learning something new. So what people will see that is slightly different is interviewing people one on one something which viewers have not seen before. So that is going to be a new challenge for me. So I hope I will be able to bring excitement and some knowledge of fashion to the show because I studied fashion design for four years before going into television marketing. That was one of the reasons I am getting on this show because, it was a fashion related programme. HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS FASHION AND STYLE IN NIGERIA? It is already a thriving industry and I think it is going to get even better because now that we are on a bigger platform and the world is watching us, it means designers are going to be getting even better than they already are. Not only is the world watching us because of entertainment, they are going to be watching us because of fashion. And Nigeria would become known for having a fantastic and vibrant fashion industry. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? I think it varies. There is a little bit of rock chic in me sometimes simple and comfortable. I like comfort and simplicity. I love to wear shorts. I love to wear a pair jeans or short dresses. I am never seen without my hair especially my afro which you'd be seeing quite a bit in the show.

HERE ARE SEVERAL MUSIC AL REALITY TV SHOWS NOW THAT PEOPLE USE AS PLATFORMS TO LAUNCH OUT. UNFORTUNATELY, IN SOME SITUATONS, WINNERS ARE UNABLE TO USE SUCH PLATFORMS. WHAT DID YOU DO TO SUCCEED? I can't attribute my success to anything in particular that I did because from when I entered the competition, I was in God's hands. Even when I came out, I didn't have a clue as to what to do. I was signed on to a record label that was waiting for something to happen. So, I was lost for a month or two. But I got a call from Cobhams Asuquo who said he wanted me to do a theme song for a company that was changing its brand. When we did the song, I got paid about N2million! I was so overwhelmed that afterwards, I just held unto Cobhams; that he must do my first song for me. I showed him the song I wrote but said to him that I was just thinking that I needed a song that would be hot; whether na jazz, whether you fine, just get in the music. I sang it to him and he said, 'That is the one you will do'. But I said to him that the beat is South African. He said 'Just do it'. With that song, I won a car (plus) multiple awards. I was so overwhelmed. That is why I cannot say there was anything special that I did. It was just the hand of God on my life. I just took advantage of every opportunity that came my way.

YOU BROKE INTO THE INDUSTRY WITH A BANG. NOW THAT YOU ARE THERE, WHAT IS IT LIKE SETTLING INTO MUSIC? Well, it's a lot more technical than people would believe it to be. In as much as you are into entertainment, you are also running a business. There are a lot of things to put into perspective as you move on. I have been very stubborn; I am not the kind of person who conforms. I try as much as possible to stay on my lane. So when issues pertaining to how I run my business come up, being the executive producer of my work, I am very straight forward. I have a management company, List Entertainment, that does a fantastic job. The industry is becoming more structured everyday but we've managed to keep our head up. You just don't wake up and become a musician. There are other things that one has to put in perspective. THERE ARE MANY LIKE YOU WHO ARE ABANDONING THEIR PROFESSION TO FOLLOW THEIR PASSION. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THAT SITUATION? I haven't actually turned my back on Law. The thing is music doesn't go hand in hand with Law. The education is not wasted. What I'd just say is that when you get to a certain age in life, you become responsible for yourself and the actions that you take. If you must follow your passion, make sure you are not entering an industry that is already saturated. Ensure that you have an edge that is going to make you stand out. It is not everybody who leaves their area of specialty and goes into something that they think they have a passion for that eventually makes it. IN WHAT WAY DID THE EXPERIENCE YOU GOT IN IDOLS WEST AFRICA HELP YOU? Singing didn't come to me naturally. I had to learn on the job. I found what works for me and I held unto it. I explained to someone recently that the thing about being an artiste is that you can choose one of two paths. One of the major paths is that you can choose to be a celebrity and create the image of a demi-god that is unreachable. The minute you leave that faรงade and want to attract people, they will say this person is probably mad. In this category, you have people like Lady Gaga. She is a fantastic musician but then she has to put on all this paraphernalia and it works for her. The other path or aspect is reaching the people with what you have to say, allowing it to appeal to them and making yourself as reachable as possible. You have people like Fela and his son, Femi Anikulapo Kuti. They just come as they are and then they try as much as possible to become reachable and relatable. Therefore, when they sing, their song is like words from your brother or sister or a member of your family. That is the line I am towing. I tried it while I
Omawumi was on Idols and people liked it. So why create a faรงade or a special accent that I will use in talking or singing? I don't have any training apart from the fact that I went into a singing competition. So I make myself as relatable as possible. I sing in (our) local language; I speak most of the time in pidgin English. It's not as if I don't know my way around the English Language but I found out that I am more relatable when I show attributes of where I grew up from and that is Warri. YOU ONCE MENTIONED THAT YOUR MOM IS A PRIM AND PROPER KIND OF PERSON BUT YOU ARE STREET WISE. WHERE DID YOU LEARN THAT FROM? When I was four, I was moved from Lagos to Warri and at that early stage, I started picking the language as it was
spoken in that environment. My mom was very worried and she ensured that there no mannerism that stuck to my tongue because she was a broadcaster. You couldn't be talking to my mom and say 'you know' or 'I mean'. She will slap it out of your mouth. So, it was a part of me that I hid. I know how to come out and be street-wise because if you spoke too much grammar then, your seniors in school will beat you. I was in a school where I had to survive. So I had to adopt that persona of 'area' and it worked. The average Warri person who is called an aje-butter is generally street-wise. SOME FEMALE MUSICIANS, AT SOME POINT IN TIME, HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT MARGINALIZATION IN THE INDUSTRY. WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE BEEN? Well, I don't like complaining about things like that. I don't dwell on challenges. I see it as another feat for me to conquer. Being a female artiste, you need to work twice as hard. You need to know the right people and then make the right music. You have to do your ground work. Some of them, when they are assigned to a record label, they sit back and wait for the label to do stuff for them. I learnt at an early stage that you need to do stuff for yourself. WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE ISSUES? IS IT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE WOMEN OR THAT FEMALE MUSICIANS DON'T DO GOOD SONGS? There is no way of telling. The only thing is to find the areas where you are not meeting up and work at them. There are so many factors involved. The music could be a reason but I beg to disagree. Asa makes music that is heart felt but not commercial and she is making her money. The same thing goes for Nneka. So, whatever you produce, you just have to make sure that that music gets into the head of the people. As long as it is good music, no matter the genre, it will be accepted. The first single I released, when I was pregnant and had to be away, was a song that was a '60s, '70s jive. You go to the market and find women that sing along. So, sometimes, it's not about the music. The hand of God has to be on your life and then do good visuals so that when they see you, they can tell if they want to associate with you or not. Half

of the people don't know what you look like until they see you. Now, if you make yourself look unreachable, then you make your case worse. SO THE GENDER ISSUE IS REAL? Well, the issue is that the industry has been a maledominated one for a long time so, it's not easy for a woman to come out and say I want to make a name in this industry. But we can't sit down and play the victim. If it will take me going to sit in church for seven days, begging God to please cause people to like my song so that I get invited to events, I will do it. I pay my tithe... Do everything you can and leave the rest to God. IT IS THE VOGUE NOW FOR NIGERIAN MUSICIANS TO DO COLLABOS WITH INTERNATIONAL ACTS. WHERE ARE YOU IN THIS REGARD? It's a journey that I'm on and it's looking good. I understand now that in this industry, you don't rush. You have to know what you are doing and do it right. The international community is not as unreachable as people make it out to seem. But you should now ask yourself, if I manage to snag this person into a song, of what value is this person going to be to my music? So, the international collaboration that I am looking for are the ones that will add value to my kind of music and I'm working on it and almost there by God's grace. DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING NEW IN THE OFFING? I have a couple of scripts on my table. I am veering into acting when I have the time but I am under pressure now to finish my album. That is what I want to do. There is a concert in the works. I am lucky to say that I am going to be working with all the big guns in the industry. I have always been an entrepreneur. I have something big coming. I can't really tell you much about it now. We are in the working stage right now but it's going to veer into fashion. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE? I'm not into fashion that much. In fact, people have made

comments on that many times and that I don't dress well; that I wear short dresses. I am a musician. I wear short dresses because my legs have been complimented before, that in spite of the fact that I have knock-knees, they still manage to look good. What is important to me, as far as fashion is concerned, is to be sexy and comfortable. WHAT WON'T YOU DO IN THE NAME OF FASHION? I don't know yet. Initially, I used to say I won't wear leggings. But I wear leggings almost every day now. You know, leggings and knock- knees do not go together but now, I really don't mind. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR? When it comes to clothes, I wear African prints because they are colourful and vibrant and they add the extra edge to you as an artiste. So it's a beautiful way to show my culture and heritage. I love boubous. They are so comfortable, you can just throw them on. I have about 30 pieces of that. I wear that with flats. Except when I'm on stage or on the red carpet, I don't wear high heels. WHAT DO YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ON? Sunglasses and shoes. I like it when the sunglasses are well angled on my face. I tend to favour a lot of Dolce and Gabbana. WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRAVEL DESTINATION? I'm a very local person. I like going to odd places like Jos, Kogi. I love discovering those places where nobody will know me. When I was not yet a mother, I used to pack my bag and just disappear for a few days. I'll stay in a hotel, make new friends, go to pepper soup joints where nobody knows me, eat and drink and go back to my hotel. DO YOU DO THAT TO ESCAPE FANS HERE IN LAGOS? Yes o. It's not easy with fans but like I said, I don't want to live that kind of life where I can't do or go to the places I want to go to. Look at Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, for so long, they lived for others (to the extent) that they forgot to live for themselves. That is why I emulate those who have been able to connect to people with their music and music
alone and not on how they dress. I keep telling people that I am not a celebrity. I am a musician. It's a job. My job is to entertain you. I don't have to carry myself in a particular way and walk with bouncers and all that paraphernalia because I need you to make me look like I have that persona or wear 10 layers of make-up on my face. There is no end to these things when you start. I don't have to panic that somebody will see me without make- up on or my eye brow not being in place. YOU RECENTLY BECAME A MOM. HOW MUCH OF YOU HAS CHANGED SINCE MOTHERHOOD? Well, I can tell you that I have become more grounded and more responsible. Motherhood is very sobering and whenever I stay out late or I go to party with friends, I feel guilty where I am. My daughter is a strong girl. I raised her to be that way. When she came, I knew looking after her was something I had to do with all my strength, to make sure that she becomes a better person. And that means I have to be a hands-on parent. She follows me everywhere. I don't leave her for more than 24 hours. If I'm working anywhere, I make sure they have accommodation for me and my nanny. I have a family nanny who is hands-on. She comes from a big family and they are all there for her. WHAT ARE THE EMOTIONS INVOLVED (IN BRINGING UP YOUR DAUGHTER? It's not something that you can describe. You just have to experience it. For me, what is important is to ensure that she becomes a better person. My mum did a lot and I look up to her. So, I want to give that much to my daughter. WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR FANS? I want to say that I am very blessed to have people who love me because I don't think I have done anything to deserve the type of love and respect that I get. Without fans and people who listen to my music, I'm nothing. So I want to thank all the people who support me. May God bless them. I will try as much as possible to raise the bar and make fantastic music always.

First Impressions: You only ever get the chance to make one first impression on a first date, so make it a good one. Have some safe but friendly conversational openers, make eye contact, and be prepared to be guided through the opening scenes but not led. Date Conversation: Unless your first date is at a music concert or a soccer game, conversation is paramount and is the start of getting to know each other. You need to find a correct balance of being interesting as well as being interested. This means it's not all about you. Good feminine conversation means that it should be a back and forth exchange of information with you both talking about yourselves and your lives alternating with asking each other questions. As a feminine woman, be complimentary to your date without being effusive, and show genuine interest in what he has to say. Remember, only by finding out more about the man you're talking to will you find out if he has the potential to be Mr Right. One definite no no for a first date conversation is ex boyfriends. Don't answer your date's questions or remarks with the responses you think your date will want to hear, or make anything up. If you have a second date, you'll not have to worry about anything you said on your first date, and carry on any deceit, half truths or white lies because you wouldn't have told any. Eating and Drinking: No matter how nervous you are, relaxing yourself with alcohol is so not the way to prepare for a first date! Neither is drinking during the actual date. Excessive drinking by a woman is not only a major turnoff for men, but also doesn't show you in your best light. Drinking excessively on that first date is never classy. The confident feminine woman refuses to lower her guard like that, and in extreme cases, you could end up simply embarrassing yourself. Dining out can be a bit of a first date etiquette minefield. No matter your personal views on whether a man should pay for dinner, you should not go out with this expectation. Your date could have a completely different viewpoint. When it's time to pay, offer to make a contribution.. if you've found the right man for you he'll hopefully act according to how you want him to. Dear Ms Pearl, My ex-boyfriend has come back to me a year since breaking up, pleading for me to take him back. nother type of infection that can lead to permanent infertility in men is mumps viral infection. Mumps is usually a childhood disease. When a child gets mumps infection it can lead to mumps orchitis, which is inflammation of the testis of the mumps infection is not properly managed. This will lead to irreversible damage to the testis, which completely destroys the sperm production process. It is therefore absolutely essential that boys should not be allowed to visit another child that has mumps so as to avoid being infected. Increased scrotal temperature. There are many thing I got to learn during my quest to father a child, one of the most important things and which seemed strange to me is that I must keep my testis cool. This is because sperm production cannot occur at body temperature, but a slightly lower temperature. This is provided for by nature, which puts the scrotum in a position where it is at a lower temperature than the rest of the body. There are several conditions however that heat up the scrotum and thereby lowers sperm count. One of the most preventable is in men wearing tight trousers, pants and briefs. Apparently we should wear loose fitting trousers and pants to ensure our fertility. Long distance drivers and office workers sitting at their decks for long periods of time are also risk of heating up their testis. The scrotum naturally expands or shrinks to control the temperature of the testicles by changing their proximity to the body. If the scrotum is confined it cannot do its job of cooling the testis. Such workers should get up and move around while at work from time to time. Men with varicocele, which is a collection of varicose veins in the scrotum, which cause an increase in the temperature of the testis, can also have low sperm count. A varicocele can often be treated by surgery. Finally men with Cryptorchidism, which is undescended testis, will have higher temperatures in their testis and therefore low sperm count. My doctor told me that proper nutrition was crucial of my fertility treatment was to be successful. I was told not to take any azrtificial sweetness like nutra sweet, canderel and sweetex, which have been shown to lower sperm count. I was told to watch my intake of refined carbohydrates like white bread, sugar, flour, white rice and pasta. Instead I was to consume unrefined carbohydrates like brown rice, and whole meat bread. They advised me to avoid using too much fat and to completely avoid hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, which have been chemically altered, to stay solid at room temperature such as vegetable shortening used for making cakes and biscuits and many packaged foods, and margarine. I was also to avoid consuming estrogenic substances like soyabeans. I was to eat plenty of fruits except lemons whose effect on sperm count is still being researched. I was also to eat plenty of vegetables, whose grains and dietary fiber. MALE INFERTILITY CAUSED BY HORMONAL PROBLEMS My hormones were thoroughly checked to make sure that all of them were in proper balance. The hormones that were checked were ganotropin releasing hormone (GNR H or LHRH), prolactin, and follicle stimulating hormone, (FSH), lutenizing hormone (LH), testosterone, and several other hormones. The hormones are produced by various glands called the endocrine glands such as the pituitary glands. Failure of the pituitary gland at the base of the brain to stimulate the testis or the inability of the other endocrine gland to secrete hormones at the right time with the others will lead to inadequate sperm production. Hormonal imbalances affect approximately in 100 men. All the hormones need to be evaluated by the doctor for any disorder. I had a friend who also had infertility problems. I recommend him to the same clinic I was going to. He had very low sperm count. His rest from his hormonal panel showed he had elevated prolactin at 110ng/ml as against 5ng/ml. he was placed on bromocryptine tablets for 3 months. The prolactin hormone went down and the sperm count improved and his wife got married with fallopian tube sperm perfusion. Abnormal sperms or genetic problems can cause infertility. Genetic problems cause at least 30% of male infertility. Over one in ten men who seek help at infertility clinics are diagnosed as having severely oligospermic sperm with very low sperm count or azoospermic or zero sperm count. A cause of infertility in men is congenital adrenal hyperplasia or CAH where there is no sperm. Sperm production problems is the second most common cause of infertility in a couple. Another problem is the production of antibodies against the sperm, which block their functions. In this case the wide produced antibodies to her husband's sperm, which kills the sperm, this is the most common cause affecting about 60 in 100 patients. Sexual problems leading to erection and ejaculation problems can eventually impacts on a couple's fertility. These problems are the fourth leading cause of infertility and affect 5 in 100 patients. The third major problem concerns the obstruction or blockage of the tubes called epididymis, vas deferens, which lead sperm away from the testis to the penis. This group is the second most common cause affecting about 30 in 100 patients. Suppression of sperm production by excessive adrenal androgens is important to recognize because it is a reversible form of infertility. CAH in males may also be associated with cancer of the testis due to growth of ACTH-dependent adrenal tissue. These tumors may be painful, enlarge and cause irregular testes. All the causes of infertility are still not known and doctors admit that in about 40% of cases the causes cannot be explained scientifically. This is referred to as “idiopathic infertility”. 30 THINGS THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPERM 1. Do not have unprotected sex. Sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea and Chlamydia can damage the sperm producing cells that block the rubes carrying sperm from the testis to the penis. 2. Avoid pesticides that control pests in the garden and on the farm. Such chemicals can damage the sperm producing organs. 3. Avoid insecticides sprayed to kill mosquito. Such chemicals can damage the sperm producing organs. Therefore if you must spray your room against mosquitoes, allow at least one-hour before going back to the room. 4. Avoid exposure to lead fumes generated in the manufacture of small cell batteries and in bullets. Such fumes can reduce sperm count by their negative effects on the hormones and the testis. ello my dear readers, with today's topics many of you will laugh and say this is a white man's ailment and black people don't get sunburned well DON’T BE FOOLED!! That is not the case; too much exposure to UV rays can cause sun burn. Sunburn is reddening of the skin that occurs after you are exposed to the sun or other ultraviolet light. It is imperative to apply sunscreen everyday especially if you don't want to look like the above victims! I personally have been a victim of sunburn and I can NEVER forget that horrible experience again, it was indeed a once bitten twice shy moment, I never leave home without applying my sunscreen and neither should you! Today I have put together symptoms and top 8 effective remedies to alleviate sunburn should you find your selves suffering from any of these symptoms.
Top 3 Sunburn Signs The first signs of sunburn may not appear for a few hours. The full effect to your skin may not appear for 24 hours or longer. Having said that, possible symptoms include:

4. Aloe to the rescue! Once soaked, apply aloe vera gel to the burn. To get any benefit, you need the plant extract itself or some straight aloe gel, the green jelly like gloop you find in the chemist. Lotion that contains minimal amounts of aloe vera probably won't work. The green leaves of an aloe vera plant contain aloe gel. Aloe gel is an antiinflammatory topical, and is often used to soothe burned skin, as well as heal wounds. Aloe Vera plants make a nice addition to your decor and are very low maintenance. They're also very easy to grow yourself. As a general rule, use 1-inch of stem for each square inch of skin to be treated. You can either cut or gently tear the stems off the plant. Be sure not to damage other stems or to remove the plant from soil. Split open the stems, and rub the clear gel from inside the plant onto the affected area.

Be sure to never use essential oils without first diluting them with carrier oil, such as olive or castor oil. Please note - If your sunburn is severe and/or you feel physically ill, it's always best to call your doctor. 6. Honey: The use of honey is a great home remedy for just about anything. Mix 1/2 cup honey with 1 cup milk to create a thin paste. Apply to affected skin, and try to leave on as long as you possibly can before removing. This remedy will provide relief and hydration, and help prevent peeling.
3. Get Your Oats And Have An Oatmeal Bath: Try adding oatmeal to a cool / lukewarm bath to soothe sun-burnt skin (water that is too hot can strip the natural oils of the skin). Oatmeal is a natural antiinflammatory, and will help calm the irritated skin. Grind 1 cup of oatmeal in a grinder, food processor or blender. Add the oatmeal to running water. Soak for at least 15 minutes. Try to air dry, or gently pat skin dry with a soft towel, as not create further irritation.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar: Adding 2-3 cups of apple cider vinegar to your bath and soaking for at least 15 minutes does wonders to burns. Alternatively, you could soak a cloth in a mixture of vinegar and water and apply to the skin as a cold compress. Apple cider vinegar helps to draw the heat out of sunburned skin. 8. A word of warning: If your sunburn has purple blotches or excessive blistering, you are beyond self-care. Get yourself to a doctor or hospital, because these could be signs of severe skin damage.

Women adapt themselves, and if you think that means they lose their individuality, you're wrong. Show me a happy marriage and I'll show you a clever woman. REAL SECURITY Many of us make the mistake of believing that security comes from money in the bank. Well, that's wrong. Many people have money and an ex-spouse who hates them and kids who only call them for money. Real security in life comes from having a joyous marriage and children who are well adjusted and actually enjoy spending time with you. That's about as wealthy as a person can be. They say 'Jesus is coming', yet our men keep going after women for their money and not for true friendship. They say 'Jesus is coming', yet our men don't want to work anymore and some of them are 'exported' to Asia as sex slaves. They say 'Jesus is coming', yet our business ethics are getting worse than ever, because we want to be served now more than serve. They say 'Jesus is coming', yet we sing in the choir and live with our girlfriend, a girl we are not married to. etc. I know Jesus is going to come and when He comes, He will not come down here but those who are truly His will be caught up in the sky with Him and taken away. Then, He will come back here as Judge and not as Saviour after those left behind have gone through torture like they have never known or expected. I know Jesus is coming and there will be "two" somewhere, one will be taken and the other will be left behind. Will you be the one taken? Before you save the unbeliever, look in the mirror and save yourself the so called “believer” first and others will believe because of your new lifestyle. JEROME, CAN I MARRY A MAN I JUST MET? I can't say ma'am, because I don't know this man, neither can I vouch for him. I will suggest that you take one day at a time and ask a lot of questions that will make you know the kind of man you are hanging out with. Men have ways of asking women so many questions, get to know her and tailor themselves to fit into who they think she may want and after marriage they change to who they conveniently are. I advise that at no time should you talk too much about yourself, even if you are an extrovert. Rather, listen and observe if what he says and what he does are in sync. At no time should you jump to beginning to see yourself as his wife, because you are not in the true sense friends yet but just acquaintances. One step at a time, my dear. This is about your life. Nicole by Haguaana & Ahme Couture are two individual brands owned by Aisha Ugah Igbinovia and Amen Bazunu respectively. Their exhibition was a mouthwatering selection of exotic handmade leather bags, neck pieces cut out of precious crystals, corals, pearls and stones. The coolest thing about both collections is that all the materials used by both brands are sourced and produced in Africa.

he Ikeja City Mall, Alausa, Lagos, Nigeria saw the launch of the first black|Up standalone shop outside Paris. The Launch event took place at the newly opened store and gathered together special guests and celebrities and featured live makeup demonstrations by a team of make-up artists headed by international Celebrity Makeup Artist and Creative Ambassador of black|Up, David Coranson. Highlights of the day included special beauty presentations by professional models as well as guests being treated to an overflow of champagne and finger foods. Montaigne Place, spearheaded by Alali Hart are exclusive partners of the black|Up brand which was launched into the Nigerian market a few years ago.
