Feb 23 (Sun) Guest Artist Recital and Panel Discussion: Eric Zuber, piano

A rising star in the classical piano world, Eric Zuber has won major prizes in nine of the world’s most prestigious international piano competitions. His recital of works by Rachmaninoff and Schumann will be followed by a panel discussion, “Building a Career in Classical Music,” for which he will be joined by UW faculty and Seattle music professionals. BA 2 pm $15

David Kim, assistant professor of piano at Whitman College, presents a lecture-recital, “A Historical Performance: Old Pianos and New Musicianship,” exploring the ways in which recent thinking from the fields of psychology and philosophy may help artists develop a new method for musical practicing. Guan Changxin of the China Conservatory of Music leads a master class with UW piano students and performs a concert of works for solo piano. His April 2 program includes Schubert: Four Impromptus, Op. 90; and Chopin: The Four Scherzi; plus a short Chinese work. April 1 Master Class: BA 5 pm FREE April 2 Recital: BA 7:30 pm $15
