Two Weeks of Camp!
HURRAY!
Many have already heard CKUW’s big news, but it’s so big that we wanted to tell you again... In summer 2014, we will be hosting TWO weeks of camp! This doesn’t mean campers can come to camp for two weeks (although that would be awesome!) but, it means we will be able to expand our services to allow more kids affected by a parent’s cancer to come to camp. This year, we are accepting 120 campers over two weeks--eight times as many as we did at our first camp in 2010! Hosting our camp over two weeks will allow us to maintain our Kesem family closeness while still expanding our services. Below are the logistics for our next camp. What? Camp Kesem-UW-Madison will host two weeks of camp in summer 2014!! When? July 20-26 & August 17-23 Where? JCC Rainbow Camp (Fredonia, Wis.) They’ve hosted our teen overnights and counselor trainings in the past, and now they’ll be hosting our actual camp! Why? To provide camp for more kids in the Wisconsin area affected by a parent’s cancer
Reunions: Past & Future Last: We held our last reunion October 20 at Schusters Farm in Deerfield, Wis. Despite the chilly weather, campers, counselors and parents reunited to tackle a corn maze, visit with some goats and pick pumpkins. We even cheered on some swine with silly names in the pig races! Overall, it was a delightful afternoon full of smiles and Kesem fun. Thanks to all the families who attended! Next: We don’t have location or time details figured out yet, but our next reunion will take place...

Make the Magic
Our annual fundraising event, Make the Magic, will be April 26, 2014, at Crowne Plaza in Madison, Wis. The event will include some of our traditional agenda items, such as a silent auction, but we are also planning new activities to raise money for camp. In addition, this year we have set the bar high with a goal of 300 attendees at Make the Magic, which is a huge increase from the 170 last year. Vote for this Year’s Camp Theme
We want YOUR help! This year we are looking for input from our families, counselors, professional staff, donors and supporters to choose our overall theme for camp. Each year we have an overall theme for the week of camp (i.e. Board Games, or “Let the Good Times Roll”) that consists of daily themes as well (i.e. Candyland, Clue, etc.). The poll will be open from December 2 to 13 for everyone to vote for their favorite overall theme. Our executive board will then select the final theme from the three most popular themes. Here are the themes on the ballot:
