It is an organic Alpha hydroxide acid (AHA) that breaks the adhesion between the epidermis cells stimulating exfoliation and providing a visible flash effect.
It belongs to the Alphahydroxy Acids group (AHAS) and is obtained from the bitter almond. It has a higher molecular weight, which allows the penetration into the epidermis to be much slower than other acids, then skin is not irritated or burned.
It is an Alpha-Keto Acid. It is characterized by the high lyophilized effect, which makes it capable of deeply and quickly penetration. It has a low molecular weight.
