JORDAN DURHAM ASSISTANT COACH // SPRINTS 2ND YEAR // ARIZONA STATE Jordan Durham took no time in making her mark on the UT Arlington program. In just one year, the Mavericks’ sprints coach helped All-Americans Cordero Gray and Jasmine Walls reach new heights by recording personal bests. She also guided Shannon Reynolds to Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Durham coached Walls and Reynolds to finish first and second in the 100m and the 200m at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. Antonia Hopkins won the 400m as well, giving the Mavericks a clean sweep of the sprints events. DeAndrea Smith also scored in the 400m by placing sixth, giving UTA six scorers in three women’s sprints events.

On the men’s side, Durham helped Gray set a personal-best time of 10.16 in the 100m at the SLC Outdoor Championships. Gray finished third in the 100m and the 200m. Lionel Mungwari also scored in the 100m and 200m as a freshman and Renan Palma, another freshman, scored in the 200m. Juan Lewis also scored at the conference meet as well, placing fourth in the 400m. At the SLC Indoor Championships, Durham helped lead Walls to wins in the 60m and the 200m. Hopkins took second in the 200m and Reynolds scored in both events. Hopkins also won the 400m, leading four Mavs who scored in the event – Smith placed second, Megan Turner finished fifth and Brittany Culbertson placed sixth. The 4x440-yard relay team also placed second at the indoor meet. Durham’s coaching led to success on the men’s side as well. Gray placed second in the 60m and Juan Lewis scored in the 200m and the 400m. In all, nine sprinters made appearances in the NCAA Preliminaries. Two – Gray and Walls – advanced to the NCAA Championships. Durham became a full-time member of the coaching staff prior to the start of the 2010 season after serving as a graduate assistant at UT Arlington during the 2008-09 season. She assisted in the development of All-American sprinters Gray and Walls that year.

During the 2007 season she earned All-America honors in the 4x400m relay as the team ran 3:35.96 and place eighth at the NCAA Championships. That same squad won the Pac-10 title (3:33.14) and was second in the West Region. She began her career at ASU in 2006 after spending her freshman season at TCU. A 2004 graduate of Kennedale High School in Kennedale, Texas, Durham was selected as the team’s MVP all four years of competition. She helped lead the track team to a state title as a senior. She also was also a two-time all-district volleyball selection and captained both teams as a senior. She majored in psychology and sociology at Arizona State. She was born on August 28, 1986 in San Angelo, Texas.

Durham also worked with the short-distance relay teams, where the women placed second in the 4x100 and won the 4x400 at the SLC Outdoor Championships. She also guided the men’s 4x100 relay team to a conference title.

A three-time All-American at Arizona State, Durham was a member of the Sun Devils’ 2007 indoor and outdoor and 2008 indoor national championship teams. She participated in the relays and sprints for the Sun Devils and was a member of the team’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. In 2008 during the Pac 10 season, she finished third in the 400m final with a time of 53.64 and ran third leg on the school’s winning 4x400m relay team.
