SIXTH MAN SPARKPLUG
¢ Just as he did during the second half of last season, junior wing Jordan McRae has provided an offensive boost off the bench through eight games for Tennessee. ¢ McRae ranks third on the team with 9.9 points per game, and he is shooting .345 (10-for-29) from 3-point range. ¢ The Midway, Ga., native came off the bench to score in double figures in six of UT’s last 14 games last season.
PRODUCTION INCREASE FOR J-RICH
¢ After averaging 2.9 points per game as a true freshman last year, guard Josh Richardson is averaging 6.4 ppg through UT’s first eight games. ¢ Now a starter on the wing, Richardson had 11 points and nine rebounds in the win over UMass.
STARTING SHORTHANDED
¢ The Vols have begun the season with three members of its 15-man roster sidelined by injuries. Most notably, senior forward Jeronne Maymon, a second-team All-SEC performer and UT’s second-leading scorer last season, is out with a knee injury. ¢ Fellow senior forward Dwight Miller also is still rehabbing following offseason knee surgery. ¢ Freshman guard Derek Reese had surgery in August to address a labral tear. He started taking part in limited practice drills when the team was in Puerto Rico in mid-November.

LANDRY, DAVIS, HUBBS SIGN WITH VOLS
¢ Cuonzo Martin announced on Nov. 15 that and Travon (pronounced: tray-VAHN) Landry, A.J. Davis and Robert Hubbs III all signed National Letters of Intent to attend UT and play for the Volunteers beginning with the 2013-14 season. ¢ Landry is a 6-0 point guard originally from San Antonio, Texas, who currently starts for the powerhouse program at Huntington St. Joseph Prep in Huntington, W.Va. ¢ Davis is a 6-8 guard/forward from Buford, Ga., and is the son of 13-year NBA veteran and 2001 NBA All-Star Antonio Davis. ¢ Hubbs is a 6-5 shooting guard from Newbern, Tenn. and is rated as a top-15 national prospect.
STOKES ON WOODEN AWARD, NAISMITH TROPHY WATCH LISTS
¢ The Los Angeles Athletic Club placed sophomore power forward Jarnell Stokes on its John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top-50 list. ¢ Stokes also landed on the 50-player, early-season watch list for the Naismith Trophy.
VOLS SEEKING EIGHTH STRAIGHT SEASON OF TOP-FIVE ATTENDANCE
¢ The Vols finished fifth nationally in average regular-season home attendance last year, drawing 17,411 fans per game. ¢ As of Nov. 27, Tennessee had sold more season tickets for the 2012-13 campaign (13,150+) than there are total seats at five different SEC arenas.
BOUND 4 BAHAMAS: VOLS IN 2013 BATTLE 4 ATLANTIS FIELD
¢ Tennessee has been confirmed as one eight teams in the field for the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis, which takes place Nov. 28-30, 2013, at the Atlantis Royal Towers Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas. ¢ Joining the Vols in the 2013 field are Kansas, Villanova, Wake Forest, USC, UTEP and Xavier. The eighth team will be announced at a later date.
TWO VOLS LAND ON “TOP 100” LIST
¢ Tennessee’s frontcourt tandem of Jeronne Maymon and Jarnell Stokes was honored by CBSSports.com in the preseason, as each player landed on the website’s list of “College Basketball’s Top 100 Players.”
¢ Stokes and Maymon were listed at Nos. 25 and 69, respectively. ¢ Tennessee was one of 22 schools (and one of four in the SEC) to place multiple players in the list’s top 70. ¢ Stokes and Maymon headline what CBSsports. com college basketball expert Gary Parrish touts as “one of the nation’s best front courts.” ¢ The pair weighs in at 530 pounds and combined for 22.3 points and 15.5 rebounds per game a season ago.
LEAGUE MEDIA PICKS VOLS FOURTH
¢ A preseason poll of SEC and national media members projected Tennessee to finish fourth in the 14-team SEC this season. ¢ The Vols were picked to finish 11th in last year’s preseason media poll (the league had 12 teams), but went 10-6 to finish second in the final standings in Cuonzo Martin’s first season at UT.

¢ The Vols’ 2012-13 roster features 15 players (13 scholarship student-athletes) representing three nations and seven states. ¢ Four Vols hail from the state of Tennessee, while four are from Georgia. ¢ Tennessee has five seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen. ¢ The roster includes nine guards, five forwards and one center. ¢ Six Vols stand 6-5 or shorter, and nine are 6-6 or taller.
BIG ORANGE ANNIVERSARIES
¢ The 2012-13 season marks the 50th anniversary of legendary head coach Ray Mears’ first season at UT. Mears was the head coach at Tennessee for 15 years from 1962-63 to 1976-77 and boasted a .713 winning percentage (278-112). He passed away on June 11, 2007. ¢ The 2012-13 campaign also is the 70th anniversary of Tennessee’s 1943 SEC Championship team, which finished 14-4 (6-3 SEC) under head coach John Mauer. ¢ Twenty years ago, Allan Houston captured the 1993 SEC scoring title (22.3 ppg) – and he also broke Ernie Grunfeld’s school scoring record. ¢ And Ron Slay was the league’s scoring champion 10 years ago, averaging 21.2 ppg in 2003.
