The University of Saint Francis Crown Point opened its new facility in January to serve a record enrollment of 141 students. Features of the newly constructed 15,000-square-foot building at 12800 Mississippi Parkway include eight classrooms, a computer lab and resource center—all designed to meet an increasing need for educational services for up to 350 students. In addition to a convenient, easy-to-access location, the new facility offers special features designed to enhance studies. To support the university’s nursing programs, a four-bed nursing lab and a two-bed, state-of-the-art simulation lab offer the latest in classroom-integrated technology and simulated emergency medical training. Complementing construction of the new campus is a new Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, to be offered online in the fall semester.

Paige Cole, a junior business administration major at the University of Saint Francis, was among 135 students from 30 states to be honored as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact this past spring. Campus Compact is a national coalition of college and university presidents committed to improving community life by educating students for civic and social responsibility. USF’s Caitlin Nelson won the Best in Show in the student category at the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Addy Awards in the spring. A USF student has captured this top award every year the student category has been offered (2007-2010). USF has supported a student club since 2003.

The center provides students, faculty, staff and community agencies and organizations opportunities to partner in reciprocal ways to the benefit of all. Through curricular and co-curricular service-learning, community service and volunteer opportunities, the center prepares students for lives of compassionate service and social responsibility. The center coordinates efforts by working with community partners, students, clubs and organizations, athletic teams and faculty to provide service opportunities and assist with service-learning in course offerings and co-curricular programs.
