September also brings National Gymnastics Day on September 21 , the annual celebration of our sport, and the opportunity for our members and clubs to participate in activities nationwide that promote and build awareness of gymnastics. In recent years, National Gymnastics Day has grown from one day into a variety of efforts that are staged in the weeks before and after the actual day. For 2013, we are excited to introduce a new charity partner for National Gymnastics Day, Right To Play. This year, clubs are hosting events to introduce gymnastics to children from all walks of life in support of Right To Play. Right to Play is a global organization that uses organized sport and play to educate and empower children facing adversity and shares with USA Gymnastics the mission of positioning sport and playas pathways for educating children and youth to overcome adversity in disadvantaged communities. 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabrielle Douglas, 2008 Olympic horizontal bar silver-med· alist Jonathan Horton and 2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Alicia Sacramone are serving as Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors and co·chairs of National Gymnastics Day. Fall marks the beginning of the gymnastics season, and we wish you the best of luck as you pursue your athletic aspirations for the com ing 2013-14 compe titive season! See you in the gym,
