The Latin American Student Association was formed in April of 1980 by Professor Morin and his son. This organization was created to fulfill the following purposes: to create a center of orientation to help Latin Students confront and surpass the frus trations they may encounter when they are initially exposed to a socio-economic educational system that might be unknown to them; to identify and reinforce culture, language, and custom among Latin Students and to enhance educational, social and cultural opportunities in the U.R.I, community. This year, as every year, LASA has been involved in numerous events including forums, workshops, and socials. Our heaviest point of concentration goes towards Latino Awareness Month in

April. This month is totally dedicated to promoting, educating, and sharing the Latino culture. Moreover, we are planning a series of events during Latino Awareness Month to commemorate the centennial. In recent years, there has been a desire to broaden the member LASA. Any undergraduate student of the University is for full membership. In order to become a voting memeber and receive all the privileges of LASA, one must attend two
