“The child starting early childhood education today, will graduate in the third decade of the 21st century. All we can know about the world our children will step into is that it

will have challenges and opportunities beyond what we can imagine today, problems

and possibilities that will demand creativity and ingenuity, responsibility and compassion. Whether this year’s KG student will merely survive or positively thrive in the decades to come depends in large measure on the experiences he/she has in school.

Those experiences will be shaped by adults, by peers and ultimately by places, by the

physical environments where these children do their learning. United in the conviction that environment is our children’s third teacher, we can begin a new vital mission: designing today’s schools for tomorrow’s world.”

The American International School of Bucharest (AISB) engages learners in a rigorous and balanced international education, prepares them to realize their full potential, and inspires them to be successful and responsible global citizens.

“The challenges of tomorrow will be solved through an education that incorporates modern technologies, builds on the power of traditional practices and values and is sustained and inspired within a motivating environment. Dr. Robert Brindley, AISB Director

For over half a century the American International School of Bucharest has promoted a healthy and well-balanced perspective on life in its mix of curricular and co-curricular activities, with programs that reach beyond the classroom into the community. We have strived to prepare students for a life of responsible world citizenship, enabling them to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex twenty first century.

We will commit to increasing standards of excellence The opportunities and difficulties of the future will not be resolved if our means of solving them belong to the past. We will adapt our school to meet the demands of the future workplace A culture of progress is the order of the day; our students demand it; our students will prosper and flourish within it. We will not let them down! We will prioritize creation and innovation through advanced facilities & methods When the future comes AISB students will be prepared; the future will be better because of them; they will command their future.

THE AISB DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY CENTER “In the past twenty-five years the speed of discoveries in Science and Technology have been momentous. Today’s student and tomorrow’s professional must perform on a global field. Open and tolerant minds are connecting our cultural differences and are constructing bridges between people of all beliefs and nationalities. Art and creative thinking set us apart from a culture of mass production. Education must adapt to the pace of progress. Our students must learn and retain pertinent multidisciplinary information today and acquire the skill-set of a lifelong learner able to adjust to an ever changing world” - Dr. Robert Brindley, AISB Director

Become part of our students’ futures by supporting our step into the EXTRAORDINARY campaign, which aims to raise 500,000 euros for the completion of the AISB Design & Engineering Center, representing the beginning of a new and exciting adventure.

a giant leap to prepare our children to lead the future

Join us in the creation of The AISB Design & Engineering Center. This will be a uniquely designed, innovative space with a new way of teaching and learning, through a fully immersive experience. One of its kind in Europe, this will be a state of the art learning hub that will combine academics and creativity with the power of doing. Key features: A combination of traditional learning with modern design processes, in a completely non-linear mode. An opportunity for all AISB students ages 8 to 18, to explore, innovate and be intellectual risk-takers. A collective learning model and individual endeavor are the stars of our new approach. The cultural integration of diverse subjects, together with interdisciplinary and crosscultural approaches to learning. A push towards investigation, exploration, and experimenting; trial and error. “We are educating tomorrow’s leaders. SPONSORSHIP

tax advantages

Corporations Corporations granting sponsorships benefit from a tax advantage and thus, the sponsorships do not constitute an additional expense for the companies. How does the sponsorship tax advantage work? • The expenses incurred by the company granting the sponsorship are non-deductible when computing the corporate income tax to be paid by the company. • At the same time, the said expenses are going to be deducted from the payable corporate income tax, after its computation. • More specifically, the sponsorship expenses shall diminish the corporate income tax which the company shall pay to the State Budget. Are there any conditions for applying the sponsorship tax advantage? • The company must be subject to corporate income tax.

• The sponsorships should be performed based on agreements, as per the applicable legislation. The value of the sponsorship which shall be deducted from the payable corporate income tax shall be the smallest amount from the following: • 0.5% from the company’s turnover • 20% of the payable corporate income tax The above mentioned conditions must be cumulatively met. If the value of the sponsorship is above the said limits or the company registers a tax loss, then the amount representing the difference between the limit and the sponsorship granted can be carried forward for the next 7 years. Thus, in order to recover the difference, the mechanism described above (e.g. computation of limits, deduction from the corporate income tax, etc.) could be applied during the following 7 years.

SPONSORSHIP

tax advantages

Individuals Individuals deriving income from independent activities (i.e. Romanian “PFA”) • A PFA may grant sponsorship and the related expense shall be deductible at a value of maximum 5% out of a computation base. • The said computation base represents the difference from the gross income of the PFA and the deductible expenses (i.e. excluding the sponsorship expense).

Income tax redirection Without any implications upon the income tax computation of a PFA, the Romanian law provides for a simple way of supporting various projects by way of a mechanism consisting in rerouting 2% of the PFA’s income tax via the Form 200. The procedure is very simple, intuitive and simply resumes to filling in some specific data fields on Form 200 which shall be submitted to the tax authorities by the 25th of May of the year following the one in which the income was obtained by the PFA.
