SAVOR DALLAS GREAT TASTES Uptown Jazz Dallas was proud to particpate as a corporate sponsor of the 6th Annual Savor Dallas. Wine and food enthusiasts sampled flavors at the Dallas Museum of Art’s SeventeenSeventeen Restaurant, Nasher Sculpture Garden, Meyerson Symphony Center, Winspear Opera House and the Wyly Theater. Saturday’s event schedule moved to the Sheraton Dallas Hotel (this year’s host hotel) and included early morning and afternoon seminars featuring wine and chocolate pairings and more. ARTISTS ON INTEREST TO THE FESTIVAL These are artists that are featured on UptownJazzDallas.com in the ‘Set-List’ player on the Front Page of the network. These are artists that the Festival considers exceptional. Most of these artists are independent and are a focus of the festival for development and presentation at Uptown Jazz Dallas | International Jazz Festival, or, as part of the Jazz Up Festivals, Underground and Productions programming. Maurice Brown | The Cycle of Love One such artist is newcomer Maurice Brown whose new release The Cycle of Love is a great introduction to this young trumpeter’s style of jazz fused with jazzy hip-hop and fusion. Don’t get it confused though. This trumpeter has chops and his band shows that they didn’t just start this project yesterday. You can listen to “Time Tick Tock’ now playing in the ‘Set-List player. We honestly didn’t hear a track that we didn’t like. Highly recommended.

Carolyn Leonhart and Wayne Escoffery | If Dreams Come True This has got to be one of smoothest vocalists on the horizon. Carolyn Leonhart blends her jazz vocal style with a nu-jazz/ neo-soul like flavor that blends the sax of Wayne Escoffery in some of the classiest tracks you’ll ever hear. It’s best to listen to this recording rather than talk about it. We’ll be featuring this Artist of Interest to the Festival going forward but for now you can hear “Where There is Love” from her If Dreams Come True release now playing in the ‘Set-List’.

You can purchase digital mp3’s of the ‘Artists of Interest to the Festival’ in our online store at Amazon Digital located here.

JAZZ UP TASTE TOURS Stay tuned as we prepare to introduce Jazz Up Taste Tours. The mission of Jazz Up as the year-round promotions arm of Uptown Jazz Dallas is to extend the festival experience into the community and embellish the culture through music, food, fashion and the arts. Jazz Up Taste Tours will take the festival’s jazzy vibe into the area’s top restaurants and wine tasting facilities featuring the best of food, wine, champagne and spirits. Stay tuned for the Taste Tour schedule.
