FOREWORD Once upon a time I had to wear a school uniform, and boy did I loathe it. It’s been years, but I remember it like yesterday, burgundy blazer with my school's crest embroidered on the breast pocket, shiny gold buttons, pleated skirt and white blouse rain or shine... no exceptions! However, as the years went by and I grew up, I came to the realization that men all over would kill to see me in that innocent schoolgirl look again. Therefore, this uniform is in part to blame for this issue. September is nearly upon us and as August ends with the last of summer, autumn sweeps through with fresh knits for the upcoming season. Our Prep Issue is dedicated to the lifestyle that we grew up around and grew accustomed to. The lifestyle where no summer is complete without 50's inspired Carmen Marc Valvo bathing suits, tennis whites, boater hats and lobster dinners overlooking the Long Island Sound. The Summers that we spend in our respective homes in Connecticut and Massachusetts, lounging by the pools and taking midnight drives to the beach. This August, we decided to take our readers on a tour of the preppy lifestyle from around the world. From Russia, to Italy, to Tokyo, to our very own backyard - New York City. Each editorial will take you on an incredible journey that's dear to my heart, be it horseback riding, scouring the libraries for rare tomes, or boating in yacht chic. As the Summer comes to an end we are happy to return back to school in "Private School", where boys in blazers have their pick of the Ivy's and the girls are glamorously naughty between Art History and English Literature classes. Enjoy this issue and enjoy the new season that's full of crisp air, apple cider, glorious New England foliage and Hermès ridding boots.
