The 2010 University of South Carolina Upstate tennis media guide has been assembled to serve as the primary information source for writers, broadcasters, sports directors, sports editors, sports information directors and fans that follow the Spartans. The USC Upstate Media Relations Office is always interested in assisting members of the media in their coverage of Upstate athletics. Publicity and media information for tennis is handled by Assistant Media Relations Director Joe Guistina. Weekly releases, statistics, photographs and other materials are available by contacting him by phone at (864) 503-5152 or by e-mail at jguistina@uscupstate.edu.

The official athletics Web site for USC Upstate, www.upstatespartans.com, is updated continuously throughout the year. Weekly releases, feature stories, player biographies and audio clips are available for Upstate tennis and all of the Spartans’ 17 athletic programs. Match Coverage Please direct all match coverage requests at USC Upstate home matches to Joe Guistina, Assistant Media Relations Director, by calling (864) 503-5152. Calling at least 48 hours in advance is appreciated.

Interview Policy All interviews taking place other than on the day of a match with coach Alessandro De Marzo and/or players must be arranged through the USC Upstate Media Relations Office. In order to avoid any deadline conflicts, it is recommended that the request be made two days in advance. It should be noted that player telephone numbers will not be given out under any circumstances. Any media members wishing to interview head coach Alessandro De Marzo or selected players following USC Upstate home matches should contact Joe Guistina by phone before the conclusion of the match. Coach Alessandro De Marzo and selected players will be made available near the clubhouse following a short cooling-off period.

Match Day Services Post-match interviews begin approximately 10 minutes following the conclusion of the match. Upstate coach Alessandro De Marzo and selected players will be on hand. The visiting coach and players are available upon request as well.

The USC Upstate Tennis Complex The home of USC Upstate tennis is the USC Upstate Tennis Complex, located on the USC Upstate campus on North Campus Boulevard in Spartanburg. All patrons should enter the complex through the front entrance.

Directions to USC Upstate

From I-85 in either direction – Use Exit 72 on to U.S. 176 towards Spartanburg. Take the East Campus Boulevard exit. Go left at the end of the exit ramp onto East Campus Boulevard. The campus is on the left. From I-26 in either direction – Exit on to I-85 northbound, and follow the above directions. Using I-85 instead of Business I-85 is the preferable route. From U.S. Hwy. 176/I-585 northbound – Take the East Campus Boulevard exit. Go right at the end of the exit ramp onto East Campus Boulevard. The campus is on the left. From U.S. Hwy. 176/I-585 southbound – Take the East Campus Boulevard exit. Go left at the end of the exit ramp onto East Campus Boulevard. The campus is on the left. From Business I-85 northbound – Use Exit 5-B, Milliken Road. Proceed along the frontage road parallel to Business I-85 to the Milliken Bridge over Business I-85, and turn left crossing over Business I-85. At the three-way STOP at the end of the bridge, continue straight onto North Campus Boulevard into campus From Business I-85 southbound – Use Exit 6, SC 9. Proceed along the frontage road for approximately 1/2 mile being careful not to re-enter Business 85. Turn right at the Milliken Bridge and follow North Campus Boulevard to the campus.
