Hints and Tips

Welcome

Helping you make the most of your visit to the Summer Recruitment Fair.

TOP TIP #1

TOP TIP #2

TOP TIP #3

Check in advance who is coming to the fair. Draw up a wish list and focus on them.

Do your research! Familiarise yourself with what an organisation offers and importantly, what they are seeking in their recruits.

Prepare some questions and tailor them. Don’t ask questions which you can find the answers to easily elsewhere.

TOP TIP #4

TOP TIP #5

TOP TIP #6

Dress appropriately to make a good first impression.

If you impress an employer, they might want to see your CV, so don’t forget to take copies with you.

Be professional, polite and courteous. Display a positive attitude and don’t just help yourself to the freebies.

I’m delighted to welcome everyone to this year’s Summer Recruitment Fair. As ever we have an excellent range of employers attending from a variety of sectors. Over 25 exhibitors will be on hand to talk through their casual, part-time and summer work, internships, year in industry placements, graduate roles and postgraduate study options. Our own team will also be available to provide information and advice.

Our final recruitment fair of the academic year provides a unique opportunity to meet with a variety of representatives on one day, so maximise your time at the event. Familiarise yourself with the organisations attending by reading though the entries in this brochure and online and check their location on the floor plan. Make a positive first and lasting impression with the help of the useful hints and tips listed within this guide.

The fair offers opportunities for everyone, regardless of study year or stage of your employability development, that will provide you with a range of insights to help inform your career planning both now and in the future.

We look forward to seeing you. Paul Blackmore Head of Student Employability and Academic Success
