What makes us unique? Plenty. World-class Academics USD’s accredited engineering programs are the only ones in the nation that require all engineering students to graduate with a dual BS/BA degree. By following a more significant liberal arts curriculum, you’ll embark on your career with a much more balanced skill-set than other graduates holding a “traditional” BS degree. Not only will you be equipped with the critical thinking, writing and communication skills to excel, but you’ll have the real-world technical experience and global perspective to be a true Changemaker.

Fast Fact #2 Our Industry Scholars Program is an immersive program that seeks to infuse students with professional skills through workshops, site visits and internships with industry mentors, allowing them to further excel in their chosen fields.

Real-world experience? Absolutely. Hands-on Approach Through the capstone design experience at the University of San Diego, student teams are advised by a faculty member, and often mentored by industry professionals, to develop a design solution to an open-ended problem and execute the full cycle of a design process — this results in a functioning prototype. The projects may come from student passions, industry or the community and allow the students to apply knowledge learned throughout their undergraduate career.

Innovation Spaces Ours is not a traditional classroom setting. In our labs, studios and garage spaces, students tinker, collaborate and have the freedom to make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and then build, test and create even more innovative solutions.

It’s about quality, not quantity. Mentorship and Small Class Size With smaller class sizes and an open door policy, our devoted faculty connect with students individually to make the technically challenging learning environment more hands on and personable. Our esteemed educators love what they do and it shows — forming lasting connections that serve students in their professional journeys.

Career Readiness Program CONNECT is a professional development program that allows engineering and computer science students to develop skills and career competencies, including job search techniques, networking and interviewing skills, resume building and other career exploration, which is vital to succeeding within today's emerging global environment.

Expand Your Horizons Through our study abroad programs, students have the opportunity to experience coursework as it relates to various regions of the world — China, London, Uganda and more. Course lessons extend social, historical and environmental context to the technical subject matter. Many of our students say these are some of the best memories they make while at USD.

Fast Fact #5 While many universities require students to apply to a specific major, at USD students are admitted as undeclared, which gives you the freedom to choose any major you wish to explore.
