This two-year programme is the perfect way to prepare for a PhD programme. The aim of this programme is to provide you with a rigorous training in the methodological and practical skills necessary to conduct scientific research on human behaviour. You can specialise in one of the four psychological subdisciplines of your choice (Clinical and Health Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology and Social and Economic Psychology), but you are also trained in a broad multidiscipinary research approach. This Research Master’s degree will give you a great perspective on a future in research within the public or private sector

u Because the Research Master is a challenging two-year academic programme, you really have the possibility to delve deep into psychological theories about the subjects that interest you the most. u Students who wish to pursue a career as scientist-practitioner / clinician may combine the research master with specific parts of the professional one-year master’s programmes in Child & Adolescent Psychology, School Psychology, Clinical Psychology or in Health Psychology to qualify for post-master psychotherapy training programmes.

* Students can further specialise in their area of interest by choosing elective courses offered in the four tracks of the Research Master’s programme and/or from courses offered in the one-year MSc in Psychology.

Career possibilities The research master’s programme prepares students who want to continue with an academic career and obtain a PhD in Psychology. The programme also prepares students for positions in which fundamental or applied psychological research is used to support the development of corporate or public policy. These include research agencies such as the knowledge organisation TNO, as well as private firms (e.g. for software development, data science), municipal and governmental institutions focusing on research and consultancy.
