Where the foundations for the economic miracle of Liechtenstein were laid … • Built in 1882-83 as a cotton spinning mill by Johann Jakob Spoerry • Example of the first wave of industrialization in Liechtenstein • Ongoing conversions and extensions to ensure industrial utilization (including construction of turbine house, power station building, etc.) • 1992 Closure of the spinning mill

Jenny, Spoerry & Cie. factory complex in Vaduz, around 1915 (LI LA).

• Reconstruction with major interventions in the building fabric, but preservation of the exterior appearance • Used by the University of Liechtenstein since 2002

The history of the University of Liechtenstein • 1961 Founded as “Abendtechnikum Vaduz” – Supported by the state and business organisations – Department of Mechanical Engineering and, from 1963, Architecture and Civil Engineering

• 1965 Higher technical college (“Höhere Technische Lehranstalt” (HTL)) • 1988 Liechtenstein Engineering School (“Ingenieursschule” (LIS)) • 1992 University of applied sciences • 2011 University of Liechtenstein

International accreditation as proof of quality for teaching and research • 2018 World's first RIBA accreditation at all programme levels • 2023 AACSB accreditation of Business School and Business Law School

Key facts (2022) Consecutive programmes • 589 students from more than 45 countries • 2 BSc, 4 MSc, 3 PhD programmes in business, business law, and architecture • 1:10 supervision ratio (ratio of internal academic staff to students) Further education • 4 Master's Degree Programmes (LL.M. and MBA), 1 diploma degree programme, 6 certificate degree programmes • 213 students of which 86 in Master's programmes • 54 events and 1967 Participants across all programmes

General Information • Academic library for students and university staff • Branch library of the Liechtenstein National Library Network with common catalogue (exit is planned on 18 March) • From 20 March: Part of SLSP (Swiss Library Service Platform) with common catalogue SWISSCOVERY • One service location (glass building next to the cafeteria) • For now: Your student ID is your library ID. You find it on my.uni.li (yellow exclamation mark). Please download the pdf on your mobile. In case you want to make a loan: use the barcode as user ID, combine it with your birthday as password. • For example FS180344 and password 09082004 • SWISSCOVERY: please register independently but with assistance on Switch Edu-ID Welcome Day Library

LHSV The Liechtensteinischen Hochschulsportverband LHSV) was founded in 2011 and is responsible for the development and promotion of university sports in Liechtenstein. This includes − Representing Liechtenstein before international bodies − Establishment and further development of a sports program for students in Liechtenstein in cooperation with the university − Sending Liechtenstein students to international university sports competitions (Winter & Summer Universiades, World and European Championships) More information under:
