El estudiante ha sido siempre y seguirá siendo el centro sobre el que pivota #MedUNAV. Esta visión implica apostar por metodologías docen tes participativas, como el aprendizaje basado en problemas, el aprendizaje basado en equipos, la simulación médica o la discusión de casos. Así se facilita que cada alumno pueda asumir el li derazgo de su propia formación, bajo la guía y el de sus profesores.
El profesor ofrece al alumno, desde el inicio de la carrera, una visión de conjunto, por lo que el estudiante adquiere los conocimientos de forma contextualizada. Ese objetivo únicamente es po sible si hay una verdadera integración entre las ciencias básicas y clínicas de la Medicina, así como entre diferentes sistemas y áreas de cono cimiento.

La investigación es una de las tareas esenciales de todo médico. Por este motivo, se enfatizan las cuestiones vinculadas a la investigación de for ma transversal en todas las asignaturas, desde el inicio hasta el final del grado. Más de 65 años de experiencia, seis décadas de liderazgo académico y años de profunda re flexión e intenso trabajo. Todo este bagaje es el que ha permitido alumbrar el proyecto UNIC! (Universidad de Navarra Integración Curricu lar). UNIC! es un desafío estratégico, académi co, docente y pedagógico de gran envergadura que nace con el único objetivo de reforzar nues tra misión: formar profesionales con los cono cimientos más completos y avanzados, capaces de ejercer la Medicina en una sociedad global y dispuestos a liderar el desarrollo médico y cientí fico con una mentalidad de servicio a la sociedad. Para que nuestros alumnos alcancen una meta tan ambiciosa, el grado en Medicina se basa en los siguientes pilares:
METODOLOGÍAS DOCENTES
Los alumnos realizan un año rotatorio que se puede cursar íntegramente en Pamplona o en Madrid. A lo largo de un curso académico com pleto, los estudiantes rotarán en los departamen tos esenciales para la formación de un médico: Medicina, Cirugía, Psiquiatría, Pediatría, Gine cología y Atención Primaria. En cursos supe riores, el alumno rotará en otros departamentos gracias a la amplia oferta que ya existe. Al mar gen de las rotaciones clínicas, el grado contem pla de forma longitudinal actividades prácticas clínicas ya desde primer curso.
El diseño del proyecto se ha realizado con el ase soramiento de tres profesores senior de Harvard Medical School y refleja los exigentes estándares internacionales promovidos por la World Fede ration for Medical Education. En este sentido, UNIC! ha recibido el Sello Internacional de Ca lidad que permitirá a todos los graduados reali zar estancias y ejercer en países como EE.UU., Canadá, Australia o Nueva Zelanda a partir de 2024.

This approach in volves a commitment to participatory teaching methodologies such as problem-based learning, team-based learning, medical simulation, and discussion of clinical cases. This means that all students play a leading role in their own education with the guidance and support of their professors.
Each skill area requires a different form of assess ment. For this reason, UNIC! takes a different ap proach and adopts a diverse, systematic, ongoing form of assessment that tests the gradual acquisi tion of different skills over the course of the study program with particular emphasis on key con cepts and practical skills.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SCOPE As far as possible, the curriculum content has been designed to help students prepare for and earn the highest possible score on the MIR exam (medical residency program exam), as well as ex aminations for admission to specialized training in Europe and the United States.
ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS
From the very start, our professors offer a holistic vision that enables students to acquire knowledge in a contextualized fashion. However, this is only possible if there is genuine integration of the basic and clinical sciences that comprise the Medicine study program, and between the different knowl edge areas and human systems involved.
In their third year, students have a year of clinical rotation, which can be carried out in its entirety in Pamplona or Madrid. Over the course of this aca demic year, students rotate through different de partments that play a key role in medical training: Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Gyne cology and Primary Care. In later years of study, students are able to rotate through many other departments, given the wide range of options available. In addition to these clinical rotations, students take part in clinical practical activities throughout the degree program, beginning in the very first year.
Our students acquire a grounding in the profes sional and humanistic values that underpin the mission and vision of the University of Navarra and the School of Medicine in particular. Conse quently, UNIC! seeks to develop the capacity for critical thinking and inspire a vocation for service in every medical professional.
RESEARCH Research is a key component of the work of all medical professionals. For this reason, the em phasis is on cross-cutting research in all subjects in every year of the degree program. Greater im portance is placed on subjects with a specific fo cus on research methods.

65+ years of experience, six decades of academ ic leadership, and years of deep thought and hard work have given rise to a truly unique project: UNIC! (University of Navarra Integrated Curricu lum). UNIC! is a wide-ranging strategic, academic, teaching and educational initiative that was creat ed with the sole aim of strengthening our mission: namely, to equip students with the most complete and advanced knowledge in their field and educate professionals who are capable of practicing med icine in a global society and able to play a leading role in medical and scientific developments, while maintaining a desire to serve society. 8 La Facultad de Medicina y la Clínica Universidad de Navarra están estrechamente unidas al Cen tro de Investigación Médica Aplicada (CIMA) y al Instituto de Salud Tropical, un triángulo de docencia, asistencia clínica e investigación que sustenta la propuesta formativa de #MedUNAV. Se matriculan en #MedUNAV alumnos proceden tes de Europa, Asia, EE.UU. y Latinoamérica. Ade más, un número considerable de estudiantes reali za rotaciones clínicas en diferentes países gracias a los numerosos convenios para prácticas en hospi tales de primer nivel de EE.UU., Asia o Europa. Su misión fundamental es doble: dotar al alum no de una formación práctica estandarizada de vanguardia en un entorno controlado y seguro y mejorar su capacitación médica. Además, desde el primer año, proporciona a los estudiantes un entrenamiento en situaciones clínicas poco habi tuales, permite la realización de procedimientos en escenarios que recrean situaciones críticas y refuerza el trabajo en equipo y el autoaprendizaje. Los alumnos reciben una visión clínica iniguala ble, gracias a rotaciones en hospitales y centros médicos muy diversos: grandes hospitales públi cos y privados, centros hospitalarios de referencia nacional, regional y comarcal, así como centros generales, especializados y de atención primaria. Cada estudiante cuenta, desde su incorporación en primero a la Facultad de Medicina, con el apo yo de un mentor o asesor académico. En tercer curso se le asigna un tutor clínico que le ayuda a alcanzar los objetivos de su formación médica.

Surge de una necesidad vital: conseguir el tán dem perfecto entre médicos e ingenieros biomé dicos. El laboratorio tiene tres líneas de trabajo: fabricación aditiva, sonorización de simuladores médicos y creación de simuladores médicos. Los ingenieros trabajan en proyectos comunes con la Clínica Universidad de Navarra para resolver situaciones que ahora no tienen una respuesta. Además de investigar para generar conocimien to y publicarlo, los alumnos de la facultad pue den realizar el Trabajo Fin de Grado en el Labo ratorio de Ingeniería Biomédica. El campus cuenta con una superficie de 113 Ha, donde el 40% es verde jaspeado con más de 4.190 árboles. Está en Pamplona, una ciudad universitaria, cerca del mar y de los Pirineos, con un altísimo nivel de seguridad y que ha apostado por sectores de gran futuro, como la energía re novable y la biomedicina. La Universidad de Navarra ofrece un proyecto de formación integral. Technological Innovation ¿QUÉ NOS DIFERENCIA?D WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT 02. There is a vital need to find the perfect working relationship between doctors and biomedical engi neers. The laboratory has three research areas: ad ditive manufacturing, developing sensors for med ical simulators, and creating medical simulators. Engineers work jointly on projects with the Clíni ca Universidad de Navarra to deal with unsolved problems. Besides doing research for publication and to generate knowledge, students in the School of Medicine can also do their Final Year Project at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory.

La admisión a estos di plomas se realiza al finalizar primero y segundo de carrera, respectivamente.
This Diploma comprises theoretical and practical courses undertaken in the laboratory at the School of Medicine, the Clínica Universidad de Navar ra and the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA); under the supervision of a research tutor.

DIPLOMA QUIRÚRGICO
The diploma programs provide specific training to supplement the undergraduate program with the aim of equipping students with the skills they need to get a better start on a professional career in research or surgery. Students can enroll in the Research Di ploma after finishing the first year and the Surgery Diploma after finishing the second year.
DIPLOMA EN INVESTIGACIÓN BIOMÉDICA Se compone de asignaturas teóricas y prácticas que se cursan mediante estancias en laboratorios de la Facultad de Medicina, de la Clínica Univer sidad de Navarra y del Centro de Investigación Médica Aplicada (CIMA), bajo la dirección de un Tutor de Investigación. El Diploma comienza en segundo, tras la selección que se realiza después de cursar una asignatura optativa de estancia en un laborato rio, y concluye en cuarto con la presentación de un Trabajo Final de Investigación. Los estudiantes que cursan este diploma, que terminan con un bagaje amplio del trabajo y organización de un laboratorio, defienden dicho Trabajo Final de Investigación frente a un tribu nal profesional con el objetivo de mostrar las ha bilidades y competencias científicas adquiridas durante los años del Diploma.
After being equipped with a broad range of laboratory experience and organizational skills, students defend their Final Research Projects before a professional panel and are expected to demonstrate the scientific competences and skills they have acquired over the course of the Diploma program.
The diploma program begins in the third year, following a selection process that takes place after a practical assessment of surgical skills. The program ends in the sixth year. Students in the Surgery Diploma take on part of the responsibilities to organize JOICE, the Interactive Surgery Conference for Students (@JoiceUnav). Each year, this activity attracts 350 students from more than twenty different uni versities.
Contempla asignaturas quirúrgicas teórico-prác ticas en áreas como Microcirugía, Cirugía Plás tica, Cirugía de la Mano o Cirugía Oral y Maxi lofacial. A estas materias se le suma formación específica en el Centro de Simulación a través de asignaturas que se centran en técnicas quirúr gicas y laparoscópicas. En cursos superiores se recomienda realizar, al menos, una rotación clí nica de verano en servicios quirúrgicos de hos pitales con los que #MedUNAV tiene convenios. El Diploma comienza en tercero, tras la selección que se realiza después de unas pruebas prácticas de habilidades quirúrgicas, y termina en sexto. El alumnado de la Facultad y del Diploma se encarga de organizar las Jornadas Interactivas de Cirugía para Estudiantes, JOICE (@JoiceU nav). Esta actividad reúne todos los años a 350 estudiantes procedentes de más de una veintena de universidades.
The Diploma includes surgery subjects that provide a mix of theory and practice in areas such as Micro surgery, Plastic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Specific subjects are taught in the Simulation Center with emphasis on laparos copy and surgical techniques. In the later years of the program, students are encourage to do at least one summer clinical rotation in an operating room with a partner hospital of the University.

– International Teaching: Visiting professor Case-based teaching methodology for electives.
– Up-to-date medical knowledge and research opportuni ties through access to international medical journals and databases. If Spanish is not your native language, the School of Medi cine can work with students who need time to learn Spanish: – Must have a minimum A1 level of Spanish at the time of application and must enroll in ILCE Language School’s intensive summer courses before starting the first year and repeat the courses before starting the 2nd year. The International Program also helps students with self-eval uation relative to international standards. For example, the School of Medicine has special permission to offer its students the International Foundations of Medicine exam (IFOM), organized by the US National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). The IFOM exam is aimed to give stu dents a performance evaluation relative to USMLE Step 1. The USMLE score will determine if it is possible to access the residency matching program in the U.S.A.
– International Summer Course: A one week faculty-led study tour after the 1st and 2nd year.
To continue giving future medical graduates a worldclass education, the International Program was developed by the School of Medicine at the Universidad de Navarra. This program complements the medical degree with an in ternational vision by allowing students the option to take coursework offered in English and the possibility to do in ternational clinical rotations and research with our global network of partner university hospitals.
