Caracterização artística e arquitectónica Art and Architecture O edifício collegial, cuja construção teve início em 1565, é constituído por um núcleo central representado pelo claustro, em torno do qual se desenvolviam as principais áreas. O claustro, o último a ser traçado por Diogo de Castilho, revela ainda uma gramática e estética decorativa idêntica aos que foram edificados na Coimbra quinhentista, com suas abóbadas, colunas e capitéis. No lanço norte daquele, entre o átrio de entrada e o antigo corredor de acesso ao primeiro andar, ficava a sala do capítulo, enquanto, no sector poente, no primeiro piso, funcionava a livraria do Colégio.
The building, whose construction initiated in 1565, is formed by a central block, represented by the cloister, around which the main areas were organised. The cloister, designed by Diogo de Castilho, displays a vocabulary and decorative aesthetics similar to others built in 16th-century Coimbra, with their vaults, columns and capitals. The chapter house used to be on the north side of the cloister, between the entrance hall and the former corridor to the first floor, and the library used to be on the first floor, on the west side.
Localizada no flanco sul, a igreja, da qual resta ainda a estrutura arquitectónica principal, foi adaptada a dispensário farmacêutico no século XIX.
The church, which has its main architectural structure still standing, is on the south side. It underwent adaptation works to house the pharmaceutical dispensary in the 19th century.
São os conjuntos estruturais e decorativos rococós de Setecentos que maior dignidade conferem ao edifício quinhentista, como a escadaria de aparato construída no corpo norte, os múltiplos vãos de portas e janelas e os muitos conjuntos de azulejos figurativos historiados.
However, the 16th-century building is ennobled above all by the corpus of eighteenth-century structural and ornamental rococo work, namely the grand staircase on the north side, the several door and window recesses and the multiple panels of figurative narrative tiles.

Proposta de intervenção Proposed Intervention A proposta prevê o realojamento das diversas estruturas da Universidade que aqui funcionam e a instalação de uma unidade hoteleira.
The new programme contemplates the housing of several of the University’s structures in more appropriate settings and the establishment of a hotel.
É proposta a demolição do edifício nascente do volume edificado (antigo Banco de Urgências), libertando essa fachada do edifício, assim como a demolição do volume construído sobre o pátio localizado entre as escadas de aparato e as arcadas setecentistas. O piso em mansarda, corpo estranho ao carácter do edifício, construído sobre a linha de cornija da antiga igreja, será demolido, devolvendo a este corpo a escala que terá tido em finais do século XIX. Da mesma forma, os volumes que conformam o terraço superior a norte e a este serão desmontados, permitindo uma leitura do claustro mais próxima da original.
The proposal involves the demolition of the east block of the building (former Emergency Room), to unburden that façade, as well as the demolition of the block built over the courtyard situated between the grand staircase and the 18th century archways. The attic built over the cornice line of the former church and not in character with the edifice will be demolished, thus reestablishing the scale that this building must have had by the end of the 19th century. Likewise, the blocks enclosing the upper terrace on the north and east flanks will be dismantled to admit a reading of the cloister closer to the original one.

The plan includes the restoration of several areas on the ground and first floors, corresponding to the original structures of the College and the enlargement carried out in the 18th century.
