What is it?

A service day for the Shoals Community by the UNA Community. Students, Faculty and Staff are to register to participate through www.una.edu/leadershipvolunteerism under ‘forms.’ This event is sponsored by Student Engagement, Residence Life, Bank Independent and Listerhill Credit Union. The day will conclude with a Volunteer Fair at 2 p.m. on the second floor of the GUC.

Slacklining TUESDAY

Sponsor: Outdoor Adventure Center What is it?

Slacklining is a new concept that has become popular throughout colleges across the US. By definition slacklining is an act of balancing on a narrow piece of webbing stretched between two points (usually trees). Students are attracted to the activity because of the focus, concentration and relaxed feelings that are created.

The Big Deal is the largest gathering of UNA students during Pride Week. The Office of Student Engagement, Sodexo, ROTC and the University Program Council want you to have the time of your life! Come and enjoy Dinner on the Lawn, the DJ, and of course, lots of FREE food and prizes. Student organizations and local vendors will be in attendance to give away information and major prizes. Listerhill will be giving away a FREE car! In case of rain, The Big Deal will be moved to the GUC Banquet Halls and Atrium.

Toga Run 5K

Sponsor: Office of Student Engagement and UPC What is it? UNA is hosting the first Toga Run 5K on Saturday, August 24th. The 3.1 miles will kick off at Norton Auditorium. The fee to race is $5 for UNA students and $10 for community members and all proceeds will benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Shoals. Come dressed in your best toga and ready to race!

When is it? Aug. 24: Check in begins at 5:30 p.m., race begins at 6 p.m.

RSO Kick-Off What is it?

This is a mandatory event for at least three members of every Recognized Student Organization to attend in order to be trained in several areas including diversity, student allocation training, etc. RSOs must register for the event through the ‘forms’ link at www.una.edu/student-engagement. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m., with the conference beginning at 9 a.m. Students must be present the whole time to get credit for attending.

Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Panhellenic sorority recruitment will be held August 29 through September 2. Registration fee is $65 before Aug. 1; $75 after Aug. 1. Women will meet all four sororities giving them a chance to receive an invitation to join one of the sororities

CultureFest 2013 MONDAY

Interfraternity Council Recruitment

IFC Recruitment is September 3-7 and it is free to attend. Men will meet all 7 chapters and learn about each one. On the final day, men who attend could potentially receive an invitation to join a fraternity.

When is it? Sept. 3 through 7 (Deadline to register is Sept. 3.)

National Pan-Hellenic Council NPHC does not participate in recruitment. They will have NPHC Convocation which serves as a general interest meeting for the 6 organizations of the council. Students learn the requirements of what it takes to join all chapters at this event.
