UNA RECREATION POLICIES DISCOUNTS (UNA, UBC, UTOWN) The UNA provides program discounts for UNA residents, UBC faculty and staff, UBC students, and UTown@UBC residents. Status must be validated in-person prior to registration in order to receive the discount. Please see Page 38 for more information. REGISTRATION AND CANCELLATION • Registration is required for most classes. • Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Popular programs fill up quickly! • Programs may be cancelled if there isn’t sufficient registration 3-5 days prior to the start date. • Unavoidable class cancellations will be made up at the end of the session when possible. PROGRAM FEES & REFUNDS • Drop-in fees must be paid before each class and receipt must be provided to the instructor. • Applicable taxes will be added to the price of programs and fitness centre memberships. • Full refunds will be issued for any programs cancelled by the UNA. • Refund requests must be submitted no later than 1 hour after the second class, after which refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis. • Refunds are prorated with an administration fee of $5 per person. • Fitness Centre refunds will only be offered for documented medical conditions. COMMUNITY SPACES Community Centre staff reserve the right to make changes to room schedules. The Living Room at the Old Barn Community Centre and the Lounge at the Wesbrook Community Centre are public spaces and not available for private events. These rooms may be reserved for UNA programs. PHOTOS Photos may be taken of program and event participants for marketing and promotions by the UNA and may appear in UNA print materials, websites or social media. Please inform the Program Coordinator if you have any concerns about having photos taken of you or your child.

Mavaddat has taught chess for 2 years and played competitively for 7. He studied philosophy and software engineering at UBC. He is learning to read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese.

Luci Yamamoto, a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, has studied yoga since 1997 . She encourages students to challenge themselves and to appreciate the precision and depth of yoga.

Heidi has been teaching yoga for 10+ years. She has trained in various styles of Yoga and Fitness, and is passionate about wellbeing practices and sharing therapeutic yoga principles.

Dina Del Bucchia is the author of Coping with Emotions and Otters, and Blind Items. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and has experience teaching a variety of genres!

The Old Barn Community Centre Fitness Room welcomes anyone 13 years and older, whether it’s your first time or you are a high level athlete. Youth aged 13-16 need to take an introduction course, please see page 16. We offer a variety of memberships from weekly passes, monthly passes, 10x punch cards and one year memberships. Special rates are available for UNA residents and UBC faculty, staff and students. Identification is required to qualify for special rates and to provide proof of age. These discounted rates can be claimed by displaying your valid UNA Access Card to the facility staff upon registration or rental. Only one discounted rate is available per card - each person must present their own valid Access Card to claim the rate. Example: Mr and Mrs. Smith want to take their two kids to the UBC Aquatic Centre to go swimming. In order to qualify for the UNA Family Rate for each person, they must present four Access Cards to the attendant - one for each family member.
