Now that you know your grammar – let’s start chatting! The purpose of this interactive intermediate Spanish conversation course is to begin honing your speaking skills and develop the ability to discuss personal activities, everyday situations and to express your opinions – ¡En Español! We will be using various readings ranging from authentic newspaper/ magazine materials to various short stories and other types of brief readings. Please bring along the specific magazine/newspaper articles or other readings that the instructor will give you to class each week for the discussions. Note: Although this class is the most basic of the conversation classes offered, you will still need to have a decent understanding of Spanish grammar since it will not be primarily taught during this course. OSH 105-45 Triumph & Tragedy: The Lives of Great Men Tuesdays | 3:00 – 4:30pm | Classroom A | March 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23 Six Sessions $45 Over six weeks, we will study the lives of six great men in history through a series of live costumed historical portrayals. The focus will be on their triumphs, accomplishments, and the struggles that brought them their respective recognition and fame. Afterward, in an open forum, we will examine the nature and greatness and what separates their lives from our own. Week 1: Juan Ponce de Leon (1474-1521) Discovery of La Florida Week 2: General Robert E. Lee (1807-1870) Marble Man Week 3: William John Wills (1834-1861) Victorian Exploring Expedition Week 4: William Dampier (1651-1715) Pirate/Hydrographer Week 5: Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) Voyage of the Kon Tiki Week 6: Charles Hall (1821-1871) In Search of Franklin Robert Dawson is an actor/historian and has been a science lecturer for the Museum of Science for the past 14 years. He has created over 40 one-man historical presentations for festivals, museums and educational institutions.
