Home exams and assignments • Read the information on the exam paper very carefully • In your text you must acknowledge your source with a reference, both when using a direct quotation and when rewriting someone else’s text in your own words (paraphrasing) • All your written assignments must be independent work • You must use quotation marks for direct quotes and cite the source. Give a full reference with page numbers. See kildekompasset.no/en for details. • Everything taken from any source must be referenced and entered in the bibliography at the end of your work • All submissions are checked for plagiarism

What is plagiarism? • Plagiarism is the copying or paraphrasing of other people’s texts without identifying the copied text as a quotation (quotation marks) and without citations (footnotes or in-text references). • Reusing work that you have already submitted on a previous occasion without citing the source is also considered plagiarism (self-plagiarism). Use the primary source if you are in doubt, rather than copying your own past work. Look up kildekompasset.no/en if you are unsure about referencing.
