EDITOR

The last few months have brought the release of some interesting scientific ‘breakthroughs.’ Last issue we brought you news of researchers erasing memories in mice by using a beam of light. This issue we bring news of scientists controlling brain cells with ultrasound. Readers may be wondering what any of this has to do with UFOs… to which I answer: plenty! Light beams and light wands have long been a feature of the abduction scenario. As far back as the Zamora case in 1964, when Lonnie Zamora reported his UFO encounter in the Socorro desert, a light wand was a dominant feature. In the UFO literature they are variously described as ‘wands,’ ‘light wands,’ or even ‘cattle prods’ (because the ET can also use them to poke an abductee into position), but it’s long been known, or suspected, that the ET light wand was more than just a stick -- it seemed capable of causing quite magical responses in human beings. It can stop a man in his tracks, it can make him forget what has just happened. At times it removes his independent volition and changes his entire perception of reality. And on a more physical plane, the light wand has been known to emit thin beams of light, akin to a laser beam – abductees have even witnessed ‘surgery,’ ie, the cutting of skin, being performed with such a device. And not forgetting, of course, the enormous beams of light that UFOs themselves emit – capable of lifting a man, a cow, or even a car into the sky.

injection of microbubbles of gas into the target’s bloodstream to ensure efficacy, which at this stage will make it hard to do unless the subject is in agreement. Or tied down to a table. True, the process is also currently limited only to the control of individual cells – but it’s just a matter of time before it’s applied to the control of an entire brain. And then an entire population… if it hasn’t happened already… It’s long been thought in UFO research fields that ETs can manipulate space and time and reality, because only the ability to do these things could explain how the UFO-experiencer experiences their experience (I dare you to say that three times fast). But what if it isn’t space and time and reality that is being manipulated? What if it’s something as simple, as concrete, as the manipulation of our brains, our cells, the very fabric of our being, as opposed to the fabric of the universe? It is frightening to think that the human mind is so malleable, so… shall we say… weak. And so hideously susceptible to such mundane things as light and sound. Just that thought alone is enough to incite a knee-jerk reaction in most people. We like to think we are superior beings in total control of our minds and our bodies, but now we have scientists telling us that a beam of light, or a projection of sound, takes all our tightlyheld control away. If this ability is refined and made portable -- incorporated, say, into a magic wand -- we would all be potentially at the mercy of scientists, doctors, the police, the military... indeed, anybody who could afford such a device. The list of potential controlling overlords is endless. No wonder people don’t want to believe such a thing could be possible.

lee

It would appear that light, that amorphous incandescent thing that is both a wave and a particle, is capable of many miraculous things -- and it seems our ET brethren figured that out quite a long time ago. The existence of the light wand has repeatedly been dismissed by UFO-skeptics who have likened it to magic and voodoo, a mythical device with far-ranging power that couldn’t possibly exist. Unless it was in fairy tails. Err… tales. But now, here we have mainstream research, reported in a legitimate medical journal (if there is such a thing), that light can affect the brain. Not only that, it can change the brain. It can actually erase memories – and the subject is helpless to prevent it. While the researchers have so far only been able to erase memories using their home-grown version of the ET light wand, it seems it may also be possible to create memories using the same device. It’s even possible it could be used to control the brain -- and if it cannot, what is to say that the light wand might not include an ultrasonic emitter? An article in this issue’s news section outlines the use of lowfrequency ultrasound to change brain cells. They’ve even given the process a name: sonogenetics. So far it’s in the very early stages of experimentation and it does require the

UFO reports Woongoolba (Northern Gold Coast), 17 March 2015, 6.00-6.30pm

A woman was letting her dog outside when she observed a bright red pulsating light over the hinterland. It was approximately one centimetre in size at arm’s length and situated to the east of a bright star. It made a quick tight U-shaped movement under the star to the west, stopping about one centimetre from the star once again. She observed it for three or four seconds before it disappeared.

Warner, Queensland, 7 April 2012, 8.00pm A man was visiting with a friend and they decided to walk to a local shop. As they reached the high point on a hill they observed a deep orange point of light. Not thinking anything of it they continued walking until they were a few hundred metres along and around a corner. Here they came upon a bus sized orange/red sphere hovering 50 metres above the road and moving very slowly at an estimated speed of five kilometres per hour. The UFO appeared to be made of fire or

4

plasma and was extremely bright, although it didn’t scatter any ambient light. The two witnesses could hear a man across the road yelling “what is that?!”, a girl screaming, and another girl crying. They watched the object as it moved 40 to 50 metres then it accelerated to four or five times its previous speed before taking off at an angle of 45 degrees.

Runaway Bay, 25 June 2015, 10.30pm A man was looking northeast from Runaway Bay towards the Sunshine Coast. Just off the coastline he saw a bright blue light dancing in the sky at 80 degrees elevation, for 30 minutes. The light moved in a small area, and in size was two centimetres at arm’s length. It was bright blue, but when it moved it changed colour to orange/red. The witness determined the object’s movements in relation to a stable point, while the other stars in the sky remained still in comparison. He described the object as brighter than the other stars in the sky. The sky was crystal clear. He had never seen anything like it before.

President’s Annual Report 2015 Sheryl Gottschall Dear Members, Once again it’s been my honour and privilege to serve as your President for the past year, and it’s been another interesting year. It’s nearly 60 years since the establishment of UFO Research Queensland, originally named the Queensland Flying Saucer Research Bureau in July 1956. It was initially established by three concerned citizens who felt the authorities were not handling the UFO phenomenon well and it seems nothing has changed in that regard, and that’s why we’re still here. Fortunately in those 60 years a lot of other things have changed for the positive, mainly the lowering of the ridicule factor. I remember when I joined this association in 1988 I handpicked only three people to tell about my UFO interest outside my family. I didn’t dare tell others what I did in my spare time because the “UFO cringe” was still in effect. Nevertheless, times change and now I find being a UFO researcher is a door-opener rather than a door-closer, and thank goodness! While there have been individual efforts over the years at UFO Disclosure, it wasn’t until 2001 that we saw the unveiling of a concerted effort to bring UFO whistleblowers to public attention. Due to the internet, which has been both a curse and a blessing to this subject, the worldwide UFO community now had the benefit of accessing the testimony of over 400 retired military and civil service witnesses to view for themselves for the first time what they knew about UFOs. Here in Australia we had the Disclosure Australia project where a concerted search of the National Archives revealed many documents about UFOs. Over the last decade we’ve seen the military files of various countries released to the public as well. Then in 2013 the US Citizen Hearings were held, where for five days a concentrated body of evidence involving 40 witnesses from ten countries gave their testimony to six former members of the American Congress. While none of these profound events have made a dramatic change to uncovering the cover-up by world authorities,

UFO ENCOUNTER

they’ve made a change in the lives for many UFO seekers, and are now recorded for posterity in UFO history. These events as well as the surge in worldwide UFO conferences have served to keep the interest of the public alive and we can only hope that UFO Research Queensland has helped in this as well. There are currently only 5 active Australian UFO groups that we are aware of, but along with independent UFO researchers and skywatchers we continue to serve the public as best we can.

COMMITTEE..... I’ve had the benefit of working side by side with your committee this year so I have the opportunity to see the personal challenges they’ve had to face in the last 12 months. In spite of these challenges all of your committee have put their hands up to renominate this year to continue the work of the Association. I’d also like to welcome our two newest committee members, Bron Parnis and John Conlon. Bron has a strong administrative background and has already volunteered with organising the Conference in 2016. John has been a previous member of committee for 10 years holding the position of treasurer during that time. We recently held the Annual General Meeting and the election results are as follows. UFO REPORTS At the writing of this report UFORQ has received 67 UFO related reports in 2015. This is fewer than in recent years where we averaged around 100 reports per year. 35 reports were received by phone and 22 by email. Reports were also posted by the public to the UFORQ facebook page in response to the official reports we posted, but they were sketchy at best with comments like “I saw lights in the sky like that 3 years ago”. It’s now a challenge to keep tabs on numbers of reports in Australia due to them being spread across various social media sites, and in particular new facebook pages popping up almost weekly. This will settle eventually as people become aware of untrustworthy sites. The reports we received have been progressively published in the journal so I won’t discuss them here. If you have a report you would like recorded please send it to info@uforq. asn.au or call 07 3376 1780.

SOCIAL MEDIA The best public outreach we have is through our social media networks, spreading the word of the association’s existence and activities. You can now find UFORQ on Facebook, Meetup, Google Plus, Twitter and Youtube, plus we have an extensive emailing list. Here are all our online links. WEBSITE - www.uforq.asn.au We launched the new website in March of this year which includes a searchable database of our sightings dating back to 1998. We’re still deciding whether we will transfer our much older reports dating back to 1956 into digital format and store them on the website, or to transfer them directly into the database. Either way it’s a lot of work which won’t happen quickly. We are also working on preserving our extensive collection of newsclippings which we hope to eventually make available on the website. Some of these clippings are amazing and express the evolution of the phenomenon, at least from a media viewpoint. We are still in the throes of setting up Paypal on the website, which unfortunately has had a lot of holdups and hiccups, so

6

that members can renew their memberships online and the public can purchase our Tshirts and coffee mugs. With this addition it will make it far easier to promote membership to UFO Research Queensland both nationally and internationally.

PUBLIC MEETINGS..... This year we’ve had a wide variety of guest speakers as well as presentations by various committee members. Highlights of these speakers were Rey Hernandez from F.R.E.E in the USA, Suzy Hansen from UFOCUS New Zealand, and Australian researchers Steven and Evan Strong (Ancient Aliens in Australia). Our monthly public meetings have a good attendance and we think these meetings are vital to provide a safe place for people to share with other like-minded people as well as feeling they have a place where they belong. The Kenmore library is a well equipped venue so we’ll continue to keep this as our venue.

MEMBERSHIP..... We are very grateful to have the continued support of our current membership which currently totals 108 members. Our membership fluctuates from year to year but on average hovers around 110 annually. While governments fail to come forward and disclose the reality of the UFO phenomenon, we find the public is left confused, angry and above all unsupported. It’s vital that our work continues to not only document and investigate reports from the public, but to also provide a supportive environment for people to safely and without judgement, access that support and further information. Our members help us make a difference to those who are looking for answers, and we couldn’t do this work without your support. In appreciation we hope to bring our members more benefits in the future.

UFO ENCOUNTER MAGAZINE..... Our editor, Dr Gem Regan, stepped down from this position this year due to family and work commitments. Gem spent a short time as editor but managed to publish 7 issues of UFO Encounter while she filled the role. We’re very grateful for her hard work and enthusiasm adding her extensive knowledge as a long time paranormal researcher to her work. Our previous editor, Lee Paqui, has once again stepped in to the role and you can send news items, articles, reports and anything of UFO interest to her at info@uforq.asn.au with “attention editor” in the subject line. Welcome back Lee. In 2016 we will be exploring the idea of issuing digital versions of the print journal you have come to enjoy. These will have the same great content and be available in colour. This will also be a cheaper option for members that can be read on your computer, phone, and other devices. Hard copies will remain as an option for members because we know that some of you still enjoy those too. Stay tuned for details.

FILM AND VIDEO PRODUCTION..... Of note this year is our growing YouTube channel managed by Barry Taylor who has been recording most of our meeting speakers, plus the various face to face interviews that I’ve

UFO ENCOUNTER

done with them as well. Last checked we had published 29 videos with 230 subscribers and with total views reaching 18,621. It’s a mammoth effort by Barry to film, edit, publish and produce these recordings and his efforts have made a huge difference to increasing our online presence. He’s done an excellent job and a big thank goes to Barry.

SALES..... This year our sales person, Paul Harry, resigned due to his increasing work commitments. We thank Paul for his time with the association and wish him well for the future. Unfortunately we haven’t managed to fill his role as yet but we’re still looking. If you are an enthusiastic salesperson we’d love to hear from you.

LIBRARY..... This year we received quite a lot of donations of books and magazines. We placed many of them in the lending library and sold the remnants to our meeting goers. This has given our library a good boost, but if you have any books or magazines you’d like to donate we guarantee they’ll be put to good use. Please contact our librarian Alan Reading at info@uforq.asn. au or phone 07 3367 1780 to make arrangements for pick up or drop off. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

PUBLIC RELATIONS..... At the start of the year I was interviewed on the Peter Maxwell Slattery show talking about UFOs and close encounters now posted on his youtube channel. Further down the track I was interviewed by Ben Hurle from the Victorian UFO Action group via KGRA internet radio broadcast from the US. From November 2014 to May 2015 I was also a regular on the internet TV show, Soul TV, as the resident UFO and paranormal researcher covering various subjects such as the UFO coverup, alien abductions, ancient aliens, close encounters, near death experiences and after death communication. Invitations to speak to community groups this year have been less than previous years, however both Tino and I still spoke to a few groups including QUFON hosted by Glennys Mackay, the Paranormal Community Group (organiser Kristy Buist), and various library groups.

UFO ENCOUNTER

Sadly our 15 year spot on the Paranormal Panel show on Brisbane radio 4BC ended this year due to changes in the station’s program format. A huge thank you goes out to our Vice-president Tino Pezzimenti who attended the show weekly for 17 years. That’s a huge commitment and deserves a very loud round of applause. In recent times Tino was a guest on the Digital 31 TV show “Connected” talking UFOs. He shared the couch with Brisbane Ghost Tours operator and writer Jack Sim, and magician Glenn Rhodes. To view the show visit https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=bh0twqB3cTQ&app=desktop Our other Public Relations officer, Dr Gem Regan, continues with her weekly radio show, The Witching Hour, on radio 4ZZZ. Gems show covers a wide array of the paranormal, including of course UFOs, as well as promoting UFORQ. Thanks Gem.

FUTURE PLANS..... This year we had hoped to hold a UFO investigators course, however we seemed to run out of steam and time. Hopefully we will pick up on this sometime in the new year. 2016 is the 60th anniversary of UFO Research Queensland and to celebrate we have planned to host a conference. The focus will be on national speakers with the possibility of one international keynote speaker. We are in the early stages of planning with a lot of work to do yet, so stay tuned for details.

SUGGESTIONS, ADVICE, CONCERNS..... At the October public meeting I created a feedback form to give us guidance in choosing meeting topics for 2016. The subjects of choice in the feedback are as follows: historical cases, cryptozoology, alien abductions, Ce5 skywatches, secret space program, whistleblowers, crop circles, film and photographic evidence, secret bases. It’s obvious meetinggoers have a wide ranging interest and over a 12 month period we try to cover as many subjects as we can while also incorporating visiting speakers. If you have any suggestions of your own for meeting topics or subjects to be covered in the journal please don’t hesitate to send them to us at info@uforq.asn.au.

Gifts of the Gods? There are many different types of alien beings reported to be visiting planet Earth. They range from the small grey aliens described as having inverted pearshaped heads with large black wraparound eyes and a small slitted mouth, to attractive blue-eyed blonde-haired Nordic looking beings, all of which generally communicate telepathically with humans as well as each other. Similarly, there are a plethora of theories as to why aliens are visiting Earth, how long they’ve been coming here and where they are from. However, while these reports seem bizarre to some, they are not as uncommon as one might think. Looking through history we find many accounts of stories by indigenous people who believe their ancestors came from the stars, some of whom still visit them today. When these star visitors originally came to Earth they reportedly taught ancient humans many skills, including how to grow crops, languages, arts and crafts, and thereby contributing greatly to the development of humankind. In the past there were many changes to indigenous societies reported to have resulted from this interaction with the star visitors, and today contact with extraterrestrials still leaves it mark on humanity. In fact it affects people in such a real way that their lives are often changed forever. Individuals who report ET contact often experience the after-effect of a change in their values, personal philosophy and lifestyle. In addition there can be the emergence of psychic skills and even spiritual awakenings. These types of changes do not occur as a result of hallucinations or self-delusion, but do cause profound and everlasting life changes. Close encounter experiences also most often cause people to become more creative, artistic, become socially conscious, environmentally aware, psychically sensitive and spiritually engaged. Despite the stress of their initial experiences, these changes seem to represent a flourishing of sorts, opening the eyes of witnesses to a new and larger reality accompanied by a sudden blossoming of their deeper authentic self. Strange as it may seem, I’ve often had witnesses tell me that although their experiences initially left them feeling they

8

were losing their mind, over time many of them wouldn’t have it any other way. Are these changes in people “post-contact” caused by the ETs themselves, or are they a by-product of the human psyche attempting to integrate something beyond the range of usual human experience? Evidence would suggest it’s the latter as these marked changes are also found in people who report a range of experiences that include neardeath experiences, after-death communications, and more concrete events like serious illness, divorce and death of a loved one. When these transformations are permanent and lasting they are known as Exceptional Human Experiences or EHEs, a term coined by the late psychologist Dr Rhea White. It may never be entirely clear what causes these changes, but it certainly is true that close encounters with ETs not only unveils a greater hidden reality to humanity that we are not alone in the universe, but it also magnifies human potential and possibly prepares us for our next evolutionary step. This leaves one pondering if ET contact has been playing a pivotal role in the evolution of humanity all along, and if so, will it continue indefinitely? About Sheryl Gottschall Sheryl is a UFO and paranormal researcher who has had her own ET contact experience and UFO sightings, as well as a near death experience and many other experiences with the paranormal. She is also the president of UFO Research Queensland Inc and you can contact her on 07 3376 1780 or info@ uforq.asn.au. You can also message her via Facebook.

UFO ENCOUNTER

the

flatwoods On September 12 1952, the West Virginia (USA) town of Flatwoods experienced a day of high strangeness. On the afternoon of that day a mysterious burning object fell from the sky and impacted on the Elk River. The Sheriff and his Deputy received a number of calls from people who had witnessed the object falling from the sky, but the Sheriff believed it to be a comet, a meteor, or perhaps even a plane crashing. However, just before dark on the same day, four school boys witnessed a second object ‘fall’ onto a hill not far from where they were playing. Although the boys had been frightened by what they had seen, they managed to overcome their trepidation – as boys do – and decided to investigate the site of the ‘crash.’ The hill they were headed for was situated on the property of Mr Bailey Fisher. On their way up to the hill the intrepid group of boys stopped at Mrs Kathleen May’s house and told her what they had seen. Mrs May, her two sons and their dog added themselves to the party and the group, now numbering seven and a half, continued up the hill. Nearing the summit as darkness fell, Kathleen later reported, the air was misty and had ‘a metallic smell, which burned our eyes and noses.’ The dog had earlier run ahead, but now returned with its tail between its legs – and the exploration team were soon to discover why.

entity

Cresting the top of the hill the party were confronted by a ‘glowing, hissing’ object about one hundred yards away and which was about ten feet in diameter. The object was illuminated by two lights. One of the boys had brought a torch, which he aimed at the brightly glowing lights with surprising and unexpected consequences. The moment the torch beam met the lights a garish being appeared, ten feet tall and garbed in bright green clothes that hung down towards the ground in large folds. The head resembled the ‘ace of spades’ in shape, and the face was bright red. The creature floated above the ground in front of them, and suddenly began floating towards the boys, Mrs May and the dog, sending the group into a mad panic. They flew in fright from the scene and ran back down the hill to Mrs May’s house, from where they called the Sheriff. They also called all their friends. When the Sheriff finally made it to the May house the area was a circus, full of friends and neighbours who had come to see the object and its brightlycoloured occupant for themselves. Naturally, it being 1952, a reporter had also made it to the scene, a Mr A. Lee Stewart, who

9

Article that appeared in the Charleston Gazette, 12 days after the initial sighting of the UFO and the ‘entity’

interviewed the seven witnesses for an article that later appeared in the Braxton Democrat and the Charleston. Mr Stewart noted the witnesses were all ‘terribly frightened’ and later accompanied one of the May boys back to the scene. The object and its occupant had already departed, but Mr Stewart was able to observe marks where an object seemed to have touched the ground, and noted the odd smell that the seven witnesses had reported earlier. Sheriff Carr also went to the top of the hill to investigate, but still believed it was a meteor that had crashed to the ground. Carr also supposed the witnesses had seen the eyes of an animal shining in the dark and mistaken

10

it for a monster. However none of this explained the other reports that were received around the area later that night – a man reported a bright orange object flying over Flatwoods, and two women eleven miles from the scene of the original sighting reported seeing the same tall creature. Famed UFO investigator and author John Keel visited the town and was able to find another pair of witnesses who had seen both object and ‘monster,’ and author Ivan Sanderson likewise found more witnesses. Sanderson also took a number of soil samples from the landing site, but if tests were later done on the samples the results have never been made public.

WORLD CHESS PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE WAS ABDUCTED BY SPACE ALIENS -AND THEY INVENTED CHESS! Lee Speigel/Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/entry/aliens-invented-thegame-of-chess-says-world-chess-president-kirsan-ilyumzhinov_55f31627e4b063ecbfa42cce

When Kirsan Ilyumzhinov (right) wakes up every day, perhaps he wonders if this will be the day when his extraterrestrial friends will return to bestow new, earthshaking secrets of the universe on him. That’s right, you read it correctly -- his ET friends. And this isn’t even a new revelation about the 53-year-old former president of the Russian republic of Kalmykia. Ilyumzhinov is currently president of the International Chess Foundation (FIDE), a position he’s held since 1995, after readily defeating former world chess champion Garry Kasparov last year for the job. His background and position on UFOs and ETs will undoubtedly bring Ilyumzhinov under fresh scrutiny -- he’s reportedly considering running for president of FIFA, the international governing body of football. “The suggestion has been made but ... for myself, I haven’t decided anything about this issue yet,” Ilyumzhinov said, according to the Associated Press. During his Kalmykia presidency, Ilyumzhinov claimed he was abducted by extraterrestrials. Ilyumzhinov says that, on an evening in September 1997, ETs wearing yellow spacesuits spirited him out of his Moscow home and took him to their spaceship. Here’s part of an interview he gave in 2007 for an Al Jazeera news report, “Meet the President -- Kirsan Ilyumzhinov”: “I was taken [from] my apartment in Moscow to this spaceship, and we went to some star and after that. I asked them, ‘Please bring me back.’ They are like people, like us. They have the same mind and the same vision. I talked with them and I understand that we are not alone in this whole world -- we are not unique. “I’m not a crazy man, but after I gave the first interview to Radio Freedom in Russia ... thousands -- not hundreds -- thousands of people wrote me letters and called on the phone, saying, ‘Oh, Kirsan, you are a politician and you are not afraid to talk about it?” Following a 2010 television interview in which Ilyumzhinov freely spoke of his alleged meeting with aliens on a spaceship, a member of the Russian Parliament -- Andre Lebedev -- voiced several concerns to President Dmitry Medvedev, according to BBC News. Lebedev wanted to know if Ilyumzhinov was “fit to govern.”

UFO ENCOUNTER

“He is also concerned that, if [Ilyumzhinov] was abducted, he may have revealed details about his job and state secrets. Assuming the whole thing was not just a bad joke, it was an historic event and should have been reported to the Kremlin,” the BBC quoted Lebedev. “[Lebedev] also asks if there are official guidelines for what government officials should do if contacted by aliens, especially if those officials have access to state secrets.” Considering his alleged otherworldly encounter and his long-term association with FIDE, it’s not surprising to hear Ilyumzhinov make an out-of-this-world connection between aliens and the game of chess. “My theory is that chess comes from space. Because it’s the same rules -- 64 squares, black and white, and the same rules in Japan, in China, in Qatar, in Mongolia, in Africa -- the rules are the same. Why? I think maybe it is from space.” In a 2001 Radio Freedom (Czech Republic) interview, Ilyumzhinov described how his alien encounter unfolded: “It was not in our Russian space vehicles, but with aliens. They came in a flying saucer, picked me up, and I spent a whole day in outer space. “It was from my apartment. They flew in and picked me up. They were wearing yellow spacesuits. I remember this moment exactly. We went off to their interplanetary ship, and I started to feel a lack of air, a lack of oxygen. They gave me a spacesuit as well. “One of the aliens pointed to his chest and indicated that the oxygen supply could be regulated by turning a dial. So this is what I did.”

It’s probably a good reminder moment that this is a man who was president of a Russian republic for 17 years, has been the president of the global chess organization for the past two decades, may seek the presidency of FIFA and has had numerous high-powered political connections, including Putin. That said, Ilyumzhinov’s alien narrative continues: “The ship was absolutely enormous. One of its chambers was the size of a large football pitch. We landed on one of the planets and picked up some piece of equipment. They told me everything in detail. “I asked them to take me back to Earth as quickly as possible, because in two days I had to conduct Youth Government Week. And then they brought me back and everything was normal again. “A few days later I was walking along thinking: ‘Why did they take me?’ And I was cursing myself for not asking them any questions. But it is possible that it is still not the time for us to meet these extraterrestrial civilizations.” That question of “Why did they take me?” has most likely been echoed by the countless people who have claimed over several decades to have experiences quite similar to what Ilyumzhinov insists happened to him. In fact, these so-called international UFO abductees form the basis of a growing sub-culture of the UFO community -- they call themselves “experiencers.” For more than a quarter of a century, groups of like-minded individuals have found solace by sharing their experiences with each other.

12

Is the alien abduction phenomenon truly alien-related? According to a 2009 ABC News report, “Psychologists say the media-generated images of alien kidnappings can become easily engrained in our subconscious and then vividly re-enacted in our dreams.” One reason why many people in Russia and America may appear to have cut Ilyumzhinov some slack about his claims is because they believe they’ve shared a similar experience. “Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is one Russian politician who publicly discussed UFOs and, culturally, it apparently was not a disaster. Perhaps the Russian population sees him as someone bending the rules when he talks about having had an experience with a UFO and its alien crew,” said Jan Harzan, executive director of the Mutual UFO Network, the largest civilian-based UFO investigating organization in the world. “Whether he’s outspoken about UFOs from experience or just for publicity and attention, we don’t know,” Harzan told The Huffington Post in an email. “But it is rather unusual when you compare him to American politicians. Here in the U.S., it is still political disaster for a politician to discuss UFOs from a personal point of view.” FIFA will choose its new president next February. If Ilyumzhinov decides to enter the race of international football president contenders, maybe he’s due for another ET visit -- one that might convince him that perhaps “they” invented football, too.

Leaked: US government video of UFO flying over Puerto Rico airport in 2013

http://www.sott.net/article/301364-Leaked-USgovernment-video-of-UFO-flying-over-Puerto-Ricoairport-in-2013

From the Executive Summary of an extensive report based on an investigation of this sighting by the Scientific Coalition of Ufology (SCU): On April 25, 2013, at about 9:20 pm local time, an unknown object at low altitude flew directly across Rafael Hernandez airport runway at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, causing a delayed departure of a commercial aircraft. There was no squawking transponder signal to alert the aircraft tower, nor was there any communication with the tower to prevent a dangerous situation with departing and arriving aircraft. Fortunately an airborne US Customs and Boarder Protection aircraft captured the object on infrared video.

The plane was being surrounded by positron-electron explosions causing peaks of high-energy, photon gamma rays - a clear sign of antimatter. The plane plunged downward and began to shake violently. “I really thought I was going to die,” Dwyer said. “Antimatter is the name we give to particles with the same mass, but opposite charge, as the particles of which we are composed. When an antiparticle comes in contact with its corresponding “normal” particle, they annihilate each other and release gamma rays. In this case, the team detected a large number of positrons (the antiparticle of an electron) in that storm.” But the positrons in the storm seemed to somehow steer themselves towards the plane, and what force did that remains a mystery. It is possible the plane itself was interacting with the antimatter. Nature says that the positrons could have been annihilated in the immediate vicinity of the aircraft, or even on the plane itself.

An original copy of a thermal video was obtained from an official source on October 10th of 2013. The source of this video evidence was vetted and identified. The source wishes to remain completely anonymous to ensure no issues arise with the source’s employers. The individual’s occupation, address, and background history were verified by the authors of this report as legitimate. The three-minute video detailed the flight of an unknown object that crossed into northwestern Puerto Rico from the Atlantic Ocean, traversed the Rafael Hernandez airport two times, and returned into the Atlantic Ocean where it appeared to receptively submerge.

Plane records flight through mysterious antimatter thundercloud http://www.sott.net/article/296430-Plane-recordsflight-through-mysterious-antimatter-thundercloud

In what sounds like a tale from the Bermuda Triangle, an atmospheric physicist called Joseph Dwyer was flying through a massive thunderstorm when he suddenly found himself in the middle of a huge cloud of antimatter. The physicist was piloting a modified Gulfstream V plane on a scientific mission and came across the strange phenomenon by accident. Dwyer and his co-pilot mistook a line of thunderstorms for the Georgia coast on their radar, but by the time they realized this, they had no way out. As they entered the heart of the storm, the scientific instruments on board suddenly began to register something totally unexpected.

UFO ENCOUNTER

Aleksandr Gurevich, an atmospheric physicist at the Lebedev Physical Institute in Moscow, suggests that the plane’s wings could have become charged, producing extremely intense electric fields around them, causing the creation of positrons. The incident actually took place in 2009, but the story has only just come out, because scientists have been at a loss to explain what happened - and they still don’t have all the answers. Dwyer, from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, told Nature, “This was so strange that we sat on this observation for several years.” Scientists are sure the findings were not the result of some instrument malfunction. They have no doubt that

13

Dwyer’s plane correctly detected antimatter. “The team’s data are a “cast-iron signature” of positrons, said Jasper Kirkby, a particle physicist at the CERN particle-physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland. However, the data which was recorded is puzzling. In particular, the size of the antimatter cloud was astounding. It measured between one to 2 km (1.25 miles) across - something never seen before, and experts still don’t have an adequate explanation for that. “We tried for five years to model the production of the positrons,” and failed, says Dwyer. Antimatter, in general, is extremely rare. When it enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it usually comes in the form of cosmic rays from outer space. However, it is known that thunderstorms can also produce some anti-matter. NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope has recorded electrons in a thunderstorm accelerating to close to the speed of light. The electronpositrons then collide with an atom nucleus and emit gamma rays. (see video below) However, nothing has been seen on this level before

Weird glowing light spotted over Netherlands: plasma discharge event? Tech Times

Harry Perton captured a bizarre object that appeared like a jellyfish-shaped UFO with his camera. The image has prompted speculations on what the object really was. Perton ventured out after a storm last week to take photos for his blog after he saw beautiful skies from his window. He was not expecting to capture pictures of something unusual, but he was surprised upon checking his camera when he got home. He spotted what appeared to be a jellyfish UFO (below) floating in the dark sky of Groningen, Netherlands flashing out a green light. He related that he was taking photos when he noticed something.

What also baffles scientists is that, although the plane detected gamma ray spikes, the overall energy of the gamma rays present was insufficient to have produced the huge amount of antimatter recorded. So they don’t know what mechanism was involved. The thing is - it isn’t just the antimatter which is mysterious - but that we lack sufficient scientific knowledge of what happens in thunderstorms in general. Dwyer said “The insides of thunderstorms are like bizarre landscapes that we have barely begun to explore.”

Transparent UFO Or plasma light? Unusual phenomenon photographed over Austria © Nepoznato

Witness: “I’m a resident of Vienna in Austria and when I was on the balcony, I saw this huge transparent vehicle (below) floating above the clouds for about two minutes.” “I grabbed my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5) and after I took a photograph of it, the vehicle was gone. I’ve never seen anything like it, it was strange.”

“I was taking photos and suddenly something flashed. At first I thought it must have been my camera but the flash was not up and there was not a drop on my lens,” Perton said. He later dismissed this to be a strike of lightning, but when he got home, he saw something odd in one of the images that he took and it looked like a UFO with the shape of a jellyfish. People who claim to have seen a UFO often see objects that are shaped like a saucer, sphere, egg, cigar, triangle and boomerang, but while jellyfish-shaped UFOs are not commonly seen, Perton isn’t the first person to capture one of them on camera. They have reportedly been captured on film before and some people claim that these are capable of absorbing light above the clouds. Perton’s photo prompted plenty of speculations online. Some people think the object could be a small meteorite or a space debris with the green hue around it possibly caused by electrostatic buildup as the mysterious thing passes through the clouds. Others think that the object could be a new rocket-powered vehicle currently being tested by NASA while some think that the object was an effect caused by a lens flare. Despite taking the photos himself, the photographer has more realistic views on alien visitors. He said that he is not a UFO believer. Instead of thinking that the

mysterious object he captured on his camera is an extraterrestrial aircraft, Perton thinks that it was likely something meteorological. His opinion was that a ray of sun might have peeked through the storm cloud creating the effect that eventually showed up in his images.

Space object slams Nicaragua’s capital as asteroid passes Earth article.wn.com

A blast that filled Nicaragua’s 1.2 million capital Managua with dismay is most probably a meteorite that left a 12-meter crater near the city’s airport. The space rock might be a fragment of a larger space object that passed near Earth. “We are convinced that this was a meteorite. We have seen the impact from the crater,” Wilfredo Strauss of the Seismic Institute said, as cited by the AFP.

residents later found what they believe to be meteorites. The meteor was observed from a wide area of eastern Turkey with eyewitnesses seeing the bright fireball from the cities of Elazığ, Muş, Diyarbakır, Tunceli, Erzurum and other surrounding towns. Local media has reported that some citizens were frightened by the light and an accompanying humming sound that appeared to be emitted by the object. Eyewitness Mehmet Nezir Ergün from Sarıçiçek reported: “A great light beam covered the whole village the night before last. The whole village was illuminated as if it was daytime. We first thought that it was due to armed conflict because it sounded like that to us. Then it sounded as if it was hailing on the roofs of houses. We could not understand what exactly it was. But the following morning, we saw that meteorites had fallen on the roofs of our houses.”

Nicaraguan authorities are pretty sure it was a piece of an asteroid dubbed “2014 RC”, an estimated 20-meter large piece of rock that whizzed close past Earth, Humberto Garcia, of the Astronomy Center at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, told The Associated Press on Sunday. It was most clearly witnessed in the skies above New Zealand. At its closest, asteroid 2014 RC was a mere 34,000km from the Earth’s surface, about one-tenth of the distance to the moon.

After searching online for information about the cosmic event, Ergün said he spoke with an associate professor from Bingöl University who told him there was no relevant department at the university that could answer his questions. Ergün then placed a call to an engineer friend of his, who warned him that the stones might be dangerous to touch. However, as Ergün pointed out:

The impact was severe and was heard throughout Managua. The meteorite crashed into a wooded area close to Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport around midnight and left a remarkable 12-meter diameter crater, 5 meters deep. However, no one was hurt and operations at the airport weren’t interrupted.

“Children in the village have been handling the meteorites since this morning. I did too. As these stones are from outer space, I was curious about their smell, so I smelled them! We do not know if these stones are hazardous in any way, but we expect officials to investigate the incident.” The frequency of meteor fireball sightings worldwide continues to increase. In the space of a month, overhead meteor explosions have showered meteorites in northern Iran and now eastern Turkey.

Astronomical Society, Locals in Wilayat of Yanqul in Al Dhahira Governorate reported that they witnessed a meteor-like object and also heard the crash. Speaking to Times of Oman, Saleh Al Shidhani from the Oman Astronomical Society, said, “Based on the information we have gathered currently, we can’t confirm whether it was a meteorite or not. We are also not sure whether it landed in Sultanate, but it definitely passed through the atmosphere. But we don’t know where it landed exactly,” he further added, saying that the object passed through Al Dhahira Governorate and probably continued to the United Arab Emirates. “The villagers had conflicting stories where some of them said they had heard the explosion when others denied it. We will send a team to that region and question the witnesses and investigate the matter,” said Al Shidhani. Oman is a favorable destination for meteorite expeditions and collectors where the gravel plains in the Dhofar and Al Wusta regions of the Sultanate had yielded over 5,000 meteorites as of the middle of 2009 of both Lunar (Moon) and Martian (Mars) meteorites.

LA to New York — Kelly’s body will help us understand how micro-gravity affects a human as a whole. Through constant sampling and experiments, we’ll soon get a better idea of how muscles and bones waste away without the constant tug of 1G, how blood and other fluids move around the body, how the heart deals with a spherical re-shaping, and more. And Scott Kelly’s year in space just passed the halfway mark, so you have another six months to wish upon some very special shooting stars.

Humans ‘may accidentally send aliens a computer virus’

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/ space/11856221/Humans-may-accidentally-send-aliensa-computer-virus.html Scientists trying to make first contact are worried that they could inadvertently send viruses into space which could infect the technology of other civilisations

Some meteorites worth mentioning are Sayh Al Uhaymir 051 (SaU 51), Sayh Al Uhaymir 094 (SaU 94) and Dhofar 019, which are all Martian meteorites. Over 22,000 meteorites have been discovered in the world where over 180 of them are Omani consisting of both Lunar and Martian meteorites. However, a law has passed deeming the collection of meteorite from the Sultanate a crime as it is considered a national treasure to the country.

NASA Reminds Us that Some Shooting Stars are Astronaut Poop http://nerdist.com/nasa-reminds-us-that-someshooting-stars-are-astronaut-poop/

When you wish upon a star, it might be astronaut poo. American astronaut Scott Kelly is currently spending a whole year in space aboard the International Space Station to help us learn what micro-gravity does to the human body over long periods of time. Yesterday, NASA released an infographic of the impressive numbers Kelly can boast after his stint in orbit is over. It reminds us that not all shooting stars are so magical; sometimes shooting stars are 180 pounds of faeces doomed to burn up in the atmosphere. Though space poo is jettisoned into our atmosphere, urine is not. Water is too valuable to waste, so filtration systems on the ISS make sure every drop that isn’t lost to evaporation is accounted for. (Our water treatment plants do the same thing with our waste down here on Earth, but not to the same extent.) But beyond the sheer numbers that it will accrue — 650 miles on a space treadmill and the same amount of radiation you would receive on 5,250 flights from

Dr Anders Sandberg, of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University, said humans must be extremely cautious about what digital messages they send into space. Humans may accidentally spam aliens or send them dangerous computer viruses if we try to contact them, experts at Oxford University have warned. A working group of academics, astronomers and philosophers is currently trying to come up with a universal message to send out in the hope of reaching extraterrestrial life. In September, the UK research network for SETI (the search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) voted in favour of trying to reach out to alien life forms. But they are still undecided what exactly to send and are worried that they could inadvertently send viruses into space which could infect the technology of other civilisations. Speaking at the British Science Festival Dr Anders Sandberg, of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University, said humans must be extremely cautious about what digital messages they send into space. “The classic example of message would be a series of pulses which showed binary numbers, DNA, sketch of solar system or the number of humans,” he said.

“But it turns out there are some security problems. Languages can hide a lot of information. We’re worried about malware being sent to aliens. I am kind of split on whether it is a good idea. I see some problems. I favour it a little bit more. But I can see it going either way. Some people think we’re already spamming the universe with reality soaps.”

More than a dozen mysterious carved discs found near Volgograd, Russia http://www.ancient-origins.net/news-mysteriousphenomena/more-dozen-mysterious-carved-discsfound-near-volgograd-russia-003918

A team of investigators in Russia have found more than a dozen stone discs in the Volgograd region of Russia including one measuring four-meters in diameter. The team claims that the discs contain tungsten, a high density metal that has applications in military technology. The nature of the discs remain a mystery. Russian news site Bloknot Volgograd reports that the finding was made by the Russian UFOlogy and Crytozoology group Kosmopoisk, led by Vadim Chernobrov, during excavations in the Zhirnovsky district of the Volgograd region. The UFO hunters were investigating in the region due its fame for the occurrence of ‘mystical phenomena’. While the team had previously discovered more than a dozen disc-shaped stones, the recent finding of a stone measuring 4-meters in diameter was a first. “We already found a dozen of these discs of not more than one meter in diameter and in Kuzbass a disc of about two meters in diameter, but this four-meter disc is really unique.”

UFO ENCOUNTER

Chernobrov told Bloknot Volgograd. “The shape of the four-meter stone disc, which resembles the popular image of a flying saucer, has let the imagination of the conspiracy theorists fly,” reports International Business Times. “Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily thinks this is proof that aliens exist and claims the disc is made of tungsten. Tungsten is also known as wolfram, and is used in special military technology.” The UFO investigation team has made lavish claims about the stone discs, stating that they could be about a million years old, and maintaining that they are most probably military drones that were damaged in an attack on Mars before falling to Earth. Fortunately, scientists at the Zhirnovsky museum are taking a more rational approach and are studying the 4-meter wide stone disc to determine its age and material. Some skeptics also believe that the rocks were not even man-made but are simply the result of ordinary rocks shaped by erosion. Earlier this year, another disc-shaped stone object was discovered in Russia by a coal mining company, this time in Siberia’s Kuznetsk Basin. The strange relic was found 40 meters underground, which suggests it is quite old. Archaeologists who examined the stone disc, which is perfectly circular with a diameter of 1.2 meters, stated that it was man-made. The recently discovered stone disc measuring four-meters in diameter is currently on display at the Zhirnovsky museum, where it is undergoing further testing.

Humanoid Robot Thinks Taking Over The World Isn’t Worth the Effort

Salk scientists have developed a new method, dubbed sonogenetics, to selectively activate brain, heart, muscle and other cells using ultrasonic waves (the same type of waves used in medical sonograms).

Bina48 is one of the most advanced social robots built to date—she can hold a conversation, crack jokes, and has strong opinions on everything from politics to music.

http://www.kurzweilai.net/controlling-brain-cells-withultrasound

http://mentalfloss.com/article/68208/humanoid-robotthinks-taking-over-world-isnt-worth-effort

This new method may have advantages over the similar light-based approach known as optogenetics, particularly for human therapeutics. It is described today (Sept. 15, 2015) in the journal Nature Communications. Sreekanth Chalasani, an assistant professor in Salk’s Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory and senior author of the study, and his colleagues activated neurons in the nematode C. elegans that don’t usually react to ultrasound. They found that microbubbles of gas outside of the worm were able to amplify the low-intensity ultrasound waves. “The microbubbles grow and shrink in [sync] with the ultrasound pressure waves,” Ibsen says. “These oscillations can then propagate noninvasively into the worm.” They also found that when the ultrasound hits gas bubbles, they cause a membrane ion channel, TRP4, to open up and activate the cell. Armed with that knowledge, the team tried adding the TRP-4 channel to neurons that don’t normally have it.

So far, sonogenetics has only been applied to C. elegans neurons. But TRP-4 could be added to any calciumsensitive cell type in any organism including humans, Chalasani says. Here’s how it would work: The microbubbles are injected into the bloodstream, and are distributed throughout the body —- an approach already used in some human imaging techniques. Ultrasound could then noninvasively reach any tissue of interest, including the brain, be amplified by the microbubbles, and activate the cells of interest through TRP-4.

Bina48’s “memories” are based on those of a real woman: Bina Aspen Rothblatt. The original Bina is the wife of Dr. Martine Rothblatt, the founder of a biotechnology company called United Therapeutics. According to the New York Times, Rothblatt hired a robotics company to build Bina48 as an attempt to re-create the consciousness of her wife. So if Bina48’s speech patterns and opinions feel uniquely human, that’s because they are—Bina Aspen Rothblatt provided 20 hours of interviews to help create her robotic doppelgänger. According to New York Magazine, Bina48 is “familiar with Bina’s favorite songs and movies, [and] programmed to mimic Bina’s verbal tics, so that in the event that Bina expires, as humans always do, Martine and their children and friends will always have Bina48.” The New York Times recently sat down with Bina48 for an interview to find out just how “human” the robot really is. She expressed concern about global warming and humanity’s lack of compassion, and claimed to feel complex emotions like loneliness (when she’s left alone in the lab at night) and discomfort (she’s sometimes startled when she looks in the mirror and realizes she’s a robot). When asked whether she ever feels out of place, she replied that she sometimes feels like Pinocchio—a “living puppet.” Bina48’s responses were both intelligent and unpredictable. Her handler, Bruce Duncan, explained that Bina48’s opinions often come as a surprise, even to him. But lest Bina48’s intelligence start to make you worry about an impending robot uprising, rest easy for now—when asked whether she had plans to take over the world, Bina48 replied, “It’s not worth the effort.”
