charity. Since 1996, we have worked with over 750,000 young people and 6,000 adults in 50 regions, to create inspiring learning for all. UFA has also worked with groups in Jamaica and Australia.

I value learning with others I am curious and enjoy learning for its own sake I can transfer learning to different contexts I can be comfortable with complexity and subtlety

The UFA network unlocks the potential of young people.

I can thrive on challenge, and seek creative solutions

We raise aspirations across schools, homes and communities by creating transformational learning experiences.

I am resilient and resourceful

We inspire and equip young people AND the adults that support them to become confident individuals, successful learners and responsible leaders.

I am open and generous I am reflective

“We have worked with the UFA team for several years and find their programmes inspirational. The Student Leaders, Peer Tutors and the power of encouraging young people to learn for themselves has an impact not just on the enjoyment of the young people, but their attainment in education and the attitude of the adults who work with them. Many great resources to use with young people and a wealth of knowledge for staff development and parents’ work.”

You can now set up and run a local UFA unit to meet the needs of local schools, communities and young people based on structures that provide operational simplicity and are guided by the same core principles that have underpinned the UFA since its inception. Local UFA’s are strategically directed by those people with a direct understanding of what is required locally rather than from a national perspective. The national team will provide access to UFA programmes, ensure quality and impact, offer support and cost effective systems as well as develop new ideas and innovative practice and meet any additional demand for training and development beyond local capacity.

“ The UFA have worked with students from our school for over two years. Not only have the initial structure of their programmes and support been fantastic, the subtle development of leadership skill, teamwork and confidence building of the students has had a hugely positive impact on them.” (Vikki Barrowcliffe, Our Lady’s Convent High School)

How it works

Choose your Option

Local Business Unit If you would like to set up and run UFA programmes in your area and would also like to benefit from marketing, admin and finance services and be supported by UFA policies and procedures then you might be interested in being a UFA Local Business Unit (LBU). An LBU’s core purpose is to develop the UFA in a local area/ region delivered through self-employed UFA trained and approved staff. Staff use the processes, systems and procedures of the UFA and work within its Charitable Objectives. This structure will enable the Local Business Unit to benefit as part of the charity and offer UFA programmes.

Local Delivery Organisation If you are already an organisation delivering programmes to schools and community organisations and would like to offer UFA programmes as part of your menu then you might be interested in being a UFA Local Delivery Organisation (LDO). A LDO has its own core purpose which is closely aligned to the UFA but has its own policies and procedures. This delivery model enables an existing organisation to hold a Service Level Agreement to offer UFA training and programmes in an agreed geographical area.

The benefits: An opportunity to be involved in an exciting new concept in delivering the UFA includes: •

A professional relationship with a charity with a proven track-record in high quality learning.

Support from the market leader with a highly respected reputation and a strong brand image.

A range of programmes and training.

A huge market potential.

Additional benefits of an LBU:

“The UFA have reaffirmed my love for my job and allowed me to move forward with confidence.” UFA Fellow

The LBU will be able to use our established and proven business system; you will still be running your own enterprise. Unlike a stand-alone business however, you will have the backing of a successful organisation behind you, helping you all the way including: • A business support package including managing contracts and invoices for your schools/ customers. • Access to a unique operational system.
