CoA Elections AGENDA
Members representing more than 200 architecture colleges along with IIA nominees have chosen me to contest for the post of the 'President of Council of Architecture'. With my vast experience in Architectural Education, Profession and in the CoA itself I assure one and all to spare no efforts to safeguard the spirit of the Architects Act, 1972.

More than anything else, I want my candidacy to unify our members, to renew the Architectural spirit and sense of purpose. I seek your well wishes and support for the agenda of progress and development.
Administration and style of functioning: 1. I shall carry everybody along in my team with representation to all sections and regions. 2. Establishing and maintaining cordial working relations with other government and statutory bodies. 3. Maximizing the collective wisdom of the CoA and establishing specific regional centres will be a priority. 4. Decision making will be made a more inclusive and transparent process with consensus through conversation. 5. Frequent communiquĂŠ and updates will be issued from the CoA to all the members, institutions and professionals. 6. Various committees and expert groups will be constituted to fast-track growth in pending and new areas of opportunity and challenge.
Education Today and Education Tomorrow I strongly believe that by the next decade Architectural Practice would have changed a lot and Education should shift to accommodate that. We have to prepare our students for challenges we don’t even know exist today. Inter-Disciplinary Approach is the key while our professionals design and build a new India with billions invested in the new powerhouse of the world economy. 1. 2.
Seminars and Workshops on various topics shall be conducted Promotion of Architectural and Design Research in an InterDisciplinary Environment 3. Avenues for Industry-Institute Interaction. 4. Tie-ups with other Academic and Research Institutions worldwide 5. Expert committee to look into skill demands of the industry 6. NATA to be made more acceptable for admission 7. Automation and e-Governance initiatives to be encouraged 8. Faculty Training and development programmes to be conducted 9. NIASA to be developed as a Centre of Excellence 10. Online Social Page for direct communication and updates 11. Guidelines for establishing Architectural and Design Universities 12. New and more publications to be started
Profession Today and Profession Tomorrow Over 500 million Indians will need new homes in a decade . We shall not allow non-architects to design them. 1. 2.
Request for a special cadre of Architects to GoI Recommendation to GoI and pay commission for status , administrative rights and pay parity with engineers 3. Committee to look into licensing (professional) examination 4. Continuing education programmes for professionals 5. Policy making to be made more inclusive with participation of regional forums 6. Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives and Incubators to be started for the benefit of our young architects 7. Outreach on Recent Advancements in Technology and Business 8. e-Governance initiatives to be encouraged 9. Multi-Disciplinary and Corporate practices to be allowed 10. Support through international programmes to promote Indian practices abroad 11. Committee for Opportunities and Threat Analysis 12. Co-operation with other professional bodies for mutual benefit and growth
I have full confidence that working under a constructive agenda and my leadership, together we can steer our Council to recognizable heights not only in India but the whole of world.
Let us join hands and share the ideas of progress.
