UCONN AND VANDERBILT CONNECTIONS Paul Pasqualoni’s first career game at Syracuse came with a 37-10 win vs. Vanderbilt at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 7, 1991…There are no players on the UConn roster from the state of Tennessee and no players from Connecticut on the Vandy roster…Commodore defensive coordinator Bob Shoop faced UConn as an assistant at BC (2002), as defensive coordinator at Yale (1994-96), as DB coach at Northeastern (1992) and as a GA at Yale (1989)…As a player at Yale, Shoop faced the Huskies from 1984-87…VU assistant Chris Beatty faced the Huskies the last three years as an assistant at West Virginia as did assistant Herb Hand, while at West Virginia in 2004-06…Defensive line coach Sean Spencer is a Hartford native and coached instate at Trinity (1998-2000) and Wesleyan (1995-96)…UConn defensive coordinator Don Brown coached at Maryland from 2009-2010 and was on the Terp staff with Vandy head coach James Franklin, OC John Donovan and TE coach Charles Bankins. RENTSCHLER GAMEDAY At UConn home games, FanFest takes place starting four hours before kickoff up until 30 minutes before the game. It takes place between Gates A and B outside the stadium gates...The offerings change each game, but activities typically include inflatable games for children, live bands, promotional vehicles and UConn student-athletes from various teams signing autographs....The “Husky Walk” is a chance for fans to welcome the UConn team as they get off the team buses and head to the stadium. That takes place approximately two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff between Gates A and B...Once again this season at the end of home games, the UConn team will sing the “UConn Husky” fight song in front of the student section at Rentschler Field.

SQUAD NOTES HUSKIES HAVE BEEN BOWL ELIGIBLE The 2010 UConn football team won the BIG EAST Championship and advanced to play in the school’s first-ever BCS game -- the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. UConn made the bowl eligible mark for the sixth time in the past eight seasons -- and the fourth consecutive. UConn’s trip and victory over South Carolina in the 2010 Papajohns.com Bowl marked the fourth time that the Huskies went bowling and the third consecutive. The Huskies also went to the International Bowl in 2009 and defeated Buffalo. In 2007, UConn was 9-3 in the regular season and went on to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. In 2004, the Huskies went 7-4 in the regular season and won the Motor City Bowl. In 2003, UConn was 9-3, but did not go to a bowl because of its independent status. UCONN IN SEASON OPENERS, ROAD OPENERS UConn is 8-2 in season openers since making the jump to then-Division I-A in 2002. UConn has won each of its six season openers at Rentschler Field. Overall, UConn is 51-59-2 in season openers dating back to 1896. In terms of road openers, UConn has won four of its past five road openers -the exception being last year’s loss at Michigan to open the season. UConn is 54 in road openers since joining the FBS ranks. UConn road opening wins in that time frame are: 2009 at Ohio, 2008 at Temple, 2007 at Duke, 2006 at Indiana and 2003 at Army.
