DAVID BENEDICT Dear UConn Nation, On behalf of our student-athletes and coaches, I want to thank you for your dedication and commitment to UConn Athletics. Your continued support gives our Husky teams the resources necessary to compete at the highest levels. As you review this year’s donor guide book, you will notice several improvements and modernizations. There are new procedures that apply a process that is fair, equitable and donor-centered. In that spirit, we enthusiastically unveil the “Husky Athletic Fund” – a new name for our fundraising efforts, where contributions will be credited and donor benefits received. The processing and acknowledgement remains in the UConn Foundation. The Husky Athletic Fund has also launched a new Priority Point System, in an effort to continue serving donors and season ticket holders. We also have new membership levels and benefits that reward fans for continued and past support of the Huskies.
Our new Priority Point System puts an emphasis on unrestricted giving and those gifts to benefit the Husky Annual Scholarship Fund. Raising scholarship funds continues to be a major priority for us as we pay $16.1 million per year in tuition, room and board and other academic needs. This new system will surely become a key component in our long-term planning and strategy to graduate young men and women and win championships. The UConn Athletic Development Office has been rebranded to the Husky Athletic Fund. Formerly known as the UConn Athletic Development Fund (UCADF), the athletic development office officially became the Husky Athletic Fund as of April 1, 2017. With a new name and logo, the Husky Athletic Fund will serve as the official avenue for those who want to support the UConn Division of Athletics through philanthropic donations to the UConn Foundation, Inc.
UConn Athletics is proud to announce the following changes to the UConn Athletics Priority Points System. The revised UConn Athletics Priority Points System will be utilized to reward both donor and season ticket holder loyalty and generosity.
Please note that donation checks must continue to be made payable to UConn Foundation, Inc.- Athletics and cannot include money for tickets.

Seats3D will allow users to see a virtual rendering from any section and row inside the stadium. Fans can rotate the view in all directions and zoom in and out from that location.
This new system will give ticket holders more choices and allow you to be more involved in the seating process. It will also streamline the seat-selection process, while cutting the response time from months to minutes.
The SRMS utilizes Seats3D and will allow ticket holders to preview individual seat availability online and make their selections in priority order from the convenience of their home or office. The process is efficient and

DONOR LEVELS Starting in 2017-18, the Husky Athletic Fund will be reducing the number of donor levels. Donors contributing between $100 - $999 will now be considered one level, “Husky�. Captain, Assistant Coach and Coach donor levels will no longer exist. For a full list of benefits please see page 16.

E N DOW M E N TS The UConn athletic endowment program represents a longterm solution to keeping pace with escalating scholarship costs and to provide the resources to ensure our student athletes receive the best coaching. This program allows friends of UConn Athletics to invest in the educational opportunities of UConn student-athletes and its coaches. With the goal of endowing all of the athletic scholarships and coaching positions, the financial base created by the endowment program will guarantee the commitment and continued excellence of UConn Athletics into the future. ONE HOME. WHERE GREATNESS BEGINS. CA PI TA L PROJ ECTS As we strive for greatness across all of our varsity sports, facility enhancement is critical to attracting student-athletes and winning national championships. While we have extraordinary facilities for a number of our athletic programs, we urgently need to build new venues for our soccer, baseball and softball teams. Architects are engaged in the project design with an estimated cost for the athletics complex of $46 million. To date, $15 million has been committed to the projects and we continue to seek private contributions pursuing a $25 million philanthropic goal.

F.I.T.
(FACILITY INVESTMENT TOGETHER) FUND Beginning in 2017, UConn Athletics will be instituting a new per-ticket F.I.T. fee across all ticketed sports. Coupled with the millions raised through private donations already, this fee will help reach our goal of constructing facilities that truly represent UConn’s commitment to excellence and success.
There will be a $5 surcharge on every football ticket, $2 for each men’s ice hockey and men’s/women’s basketball ticket and $1 for each men’s/women’s soccer ticket. The F.I.T. fee will be applicable to season, mini-plan and single-game purchases, but no assessment for UConn student tickets.

Each donor’s priority point total will determine their priority ranking and play a determining factor in how various benefits are allocated. A minimum annual gift of $100 to any area of the Husky Athletic Fund is required to activate your priority points.

In the event of the death of an account holder or season ticket holder, the surviving spouse (the definition of spouse is consistent with applicable federal law) retains the priority points, providing the surviving spouse is on the account at the time of death. P OSTSEASON TI CKETS AND SPECI AL E V E NTS Starting in 2017-18, tickets for away games, bowl games, postseason tournaments and special events will be allocated by priority points. Current athletics donors (a minimum of $100 commitment) will be ranked in order of priority points and then tickets are assigned. Priority ticket quantities will be determined by annual donor level. The NCAA/conference provides a limited number of tickets to each participating institution for postseason events. Specific seat locations are determined by the NCAA/conference. UConn endeavors to accommodate as many donors as possible based on the number of tickets we receive from the NCAA/conference. Tickets will be distributed based on availability.

B ASKETBALL SEASON TI CKETS Seating for season tickets in men’s and women’s basketball will be based upon your priority points. Seat selection will take place online and is based upon a 3-D seating diagram of Gampel Pavilion (Storrs) and the XL Center (Hartford). Priority points will be determined based upon the new UConn Athletics Priority Point System. Season tickets will go on sale in early June. All season ticket holders will be assigned a specific time to personally select their seat locations in mid-July. Seat selection will begin July 24 and end on September 15. While there is no limit to the number of season tickets that may be ordered, and fans are encouraged to order as many tickets as desired, priority limits will be placed on the number of seats that are able to be self-selected.

For the 2017 UConn Football Season, the Division of Athletics will be using an OPTIONAL online 3-D seat selection process. Upon the renewal of your current season tickets you will have the option to upgrade/ relocate your current seats and/or add additional seat locations. New season ticket holders will also have the opportunity to pick their seat locations. This process will begin on May 15.
All renewing football season ticket holders will be given the opportunity to maintain the same seating location held during the 2016 season as long as the “per seat� donation and season tickets are renewed by the April 24 priority deadline. If you do not renew your season tickets, your seats will be released into open inventory for other fans.

Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to opt-in to the seat selection process when placing their order. The deadline to opt-in is April 24. The UConn Foundation, Inc. is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organization, and donations to the Foundation are deductible for federal income tax purposes to the extent allowable by law. TAX INFORMATION/YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION- To maximize the tax deductible portion of your gift, you may decline to receive any benefits when you make your gift to UConn. If you choose to accept your benefits, we are required to inform you that your charitable contribution will be reduced by the value of those benefits. SEASON TICKETS & SEAT DONATIONS - Donors to UConn Athletics, are entitled to receive preferred seating locations for season tickets purchased for football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s ice hockey, men’s basketball, or women’s basketball. The cost of tickets is not tax deductible. However, Internal Revenue Code Section 170(l) provides that if a taxpayer makes a payment to or for the benefit of a university and, as a result, receives the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event, he or she is eligible to deduct 80% of his or her contributions for federal tax purposes. Accordingly, all donors who are entitled to purchase tickets with preferred seating and who do not request a waiver of points and benefits (explained below) may be eligible to deduct only 80% of their contribution for federal income tax purposes.
OTHER BENEFITS - The Internal Revenue Code also addresses benefits (other than priority seating) that a donor may receive as a result of the contribution. A donor may only deduct the amount of a contribution that is more than the value of all benefits received. Car decals, newsletters, and other token items do not reduce the amount eligible for deduction for tax purposes; however, other goods or services a donor receives in consideration for donations, such as those described on page 16, can further reduce deductibility of a gift. WAIVER OF POINTS AND BENEFITS- In order to deduct 100% of a contribution to UConn Athletics, the donor must submit in writing a waiver of points and benefits at the time of making a pledge and/or contribution. In requesting a waiver of points and benefits, the donor further understands that he or she forfeits priority points and their application as it relates to ticket assignment and allocation; once points and benefits are forfeited, they cannot be credited retroactively to a donor’s account. Only through a waiver of points and benefits is a contribution eligible for 100% tax deduction. SUBSTANTIATION REQUIREMENTS- As required by the Internal Revenue Service, the UConn Foundation, Inc. will furnish donors with receipts for contributions. Donors should retain their receipts for federal income tax purposes.

As a contributor to UConn Athletics, you are designated as a representative of athletic interests or a “rep” or a “booster” by the NCAA and thus are responsible for adhering to NCAA regulations. According to NCAA Bylaw 6.4.2.1, UConn must inform any individual or organization that receives benefits or privileges relating to the athletics program that such benefits may be withheld if the individual or organization engages in conduct that is determined to be a violation of NCAA regulations.
