Prior to joining the Red Storm, Mellon led Bridgton Academy to a 1910-3 record in two seasons as head coach. VHFRQG VHDVRQ ŕ ¤QLVKLQJ ZLWK D UHFRUG Mellon also spent two seasons as head coach of the women’s soccer team at North Country Community College and one season as an assistant coach of the men’s team at SUNY Potsdam. As a player, Mellon won two NJCAA National Championships and two NJCAA Region III Championships in 1999 and 2000 at Herkimer County Community College. Mellon then went on to spend two seasons at SUNY Potsdam. Mellon graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 2004 with a B.A. in history.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SOCCER ADMINISTRATION Connecticut ‘02 CHRIS GBANDI First Season &KULV *EDQGL MRLQV WKH 8&RQQ FRDFKLQJ VWDŕ Ł LQ as the Assistant Director of Soccer Administration. Gbandi, who was born in Liberia and graduated from UConn in 2002, enjoyed one of the most successful careers in UConn history, beginning in 1998 when he was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. He was also honored as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in 1999, 2000 and 2001, while earning All-American honors those years as well. Gbandi received the Hermann Trophy in 2000 as the National Player of the Year after leading UConn to the NCAA Championship.

Gbandi returns to Storrs after nine years of professional playing experience. He was drafted with the ŕ ¤UVW RYHUDOO SLFN RI WKH 0/6 6XSHU'UDIW E\ )& Dallas, where he played until 2007. He was honored as FC Dallas’s Defender of the Year in 2006. Following his time in Dallas, Gbandi transferred to Norwegian club FK Haugesund, where he spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Most recently, Gbandi played with USSF Division 2 club Miami FC in 2010.
