If we thinkk about PE inn terms of th he direct and d indirect im mpact that it can have on physical activvity, we see tthat the direect impact, w with its focus on burningg calories, can lead to reduced bod dy mass inde ex but we knnow that burning caloriees alone will not reduce obesity. In our revview of the literature, w we found thaat PE can inflluence activity over the long‐term. Looking aat the indire ect impact off PE, physicaal activity thaat includes eelements thaat kids find enjoyable and teache es skills can have a similar impact ass the sweat it out approach in termss of burned in PEE. However, indirect imp pact of PE haas the added d benefit of instilling lifeelong calories b appreciation for exerrcise. LACDP PH can use tthis indirect,, lifelong app proach and sshift its focus towards PE to re‐imaagine how PEE can impactt childhood obesity.
