WHO ARE THE WOMEN DIRECTORS? Most women who serve on the boards of the 400 largest public companies in California serve only on one board in our study, although many of these women serve on multiple boards across the country. Of the 3,236 director positions at the 400 companies, 361 positions are held by 316 women. Of these women, 39 (12.3%) hold at least two board seats among companies in the 2013 Fortune 500, nine (2.8%) hold three such seats, one woman (0.3%) holds four such seats and two women each hold (0.6%) five such seats.
