(AP) Jerian Grant scored 13 points to lead No. 25 Notre Dame to a 62-41 win over Cincinnati. Grant shot just 2-of-9 from the field but was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting a season-high nine. The Irish (22-6, 10-5 Big East) had four players score in double figures. Tom Knight scored 12, followed by Jack Cooley and Eric Atkins with 11. The Irish started hot, hitting their first four attempts. Cincinnati, by contrast, converted just 3 of their first 15 tries, and finished the first half shooting 7-of-25, or 28 percent. The Bearcats (19-9, 7-8) trailed by as much as 22-6 in the first half on an Irish three-pointer with 7:00. UC trailed 29-15 but managed to trim the deficit to 39-30 with 10:26 left in the game on a jumper by Shaquille Thomas. However, the Bearcats’ shooting cooled off and Notre Dame outscored UC 23-11 the rest of the way. JaQuon Parker led UC with 12 points, including eight in the second half. GAME 29 Connecticut............................................................ 56 at Cincinnati........................................................... 61 March 2, 2013 • Cincinnati, Ohio (Fifth Third Arena)

(AP) Sean Kilpatrick scored 20 points and made a pair of late free throws and Cincinnati ended a three-game losing streak with a 61-56 victory over Connecticut. The Bearcats (20-9, 8-8 BIG EAST) got only their second win in their last six games. They split their season series with UConn (19-9, 9-7 BIG EAST), which couldn’t overcome the loss of top scorer Shabazz Napier, who averages 17.1 points. After a Cincinnati turnover, Kilpatrick stole the tipped inbound pass, was fouled and made both free throws with 13.1 seconds left for a 59-56 lead. Ryan Boatright turned it over on an over-and-back call with 5.2 seconds left. Boatright led UConn with 22 points, going 14 of 15 on free throws. DeAndre Daniels added 18 points. The Bearcats also were missing a player. Forward Justin Jackson wore a boot on his left foot. UC outscored the Huskies 21-1 in points of turnovers. Wright made a 3-pointer -- his first basket after eight misses -and the Bearcats pulled ahead 46-37 with a 16-4 run that featured a technical foul on Cronin. He yanked off his black jacket, flung it at the floor and yelled at the officials, angry that they didn’t make a foul call. Another 3 by Kilpatrick helped push it to 51-39 with 9:15 left, the biggest lead of the game. Daniels and Boatright scored all the points during a 14-2 run that cut it to 55-53 with 2:19 left, with Boatright hitting seven free throws. Cashmere Wright’s 15 points led a trio of Bearcats in double figures (Sean Kilpatrick and JaQuon Parker 12 points each) but Cincinnati fell 67-51 at No. 8 Louisville. The Bearcats committed a season-high 21 turnovers that led to 23 Cardinal points. UofL also posted a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint. Russ Smith scored 18 points and Peyton Siva and Gorgui Dieng added 11 each for Louisville, which shot 48 percent (28 of 58) including 13 of 24 in the second half. A jumper by Parker at the 15:57 mark of the second half tied the score 37-37, which capped a quick 6-2 UC spurt. However, the Cardinals responded by going on an 18-5 run to go up 55-42 at the 7:52 mark. Cincinnati went into halftime trailing 35-31, mainly due to its 6-of14 accuracy from 3-point range.
