The Spring Touch Rugby Season gets under way in the first week of September. Players and teams of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to shake off the winter cobwebs and put away the umbrellas for what promises to be the best season ever. The Villagers League has produced a couple of Springboks such as Amien Bailey, and the two brothers Illy and Coobie Slamang. The league also produced a Springbok referee in Clinton Booysen. The leagues will run from the Brackenfell sports grounds on Monday evenings, Villagers on Wednesday evenings and Century City on Thursday evenings. Verdere goeie oorwinnings vir Durbanville/Bellville, Noordelikes/Northlinkkollege en Goodwood in die jongste reeks Superliga-rugbywedstryde in die WP het dit vir hierdie drie spanne ’n aangename naweek gemaak. Die Durbies stoomroller steeds voort en dié slag was dit die Universiteit Kaapstad wat dit moes ontgeld. Behalwe dat die Durbanvillers se voorhoede die ligter Ikey-agttal behoorlik ore aangesit het, het skitterspel deur die senterpaar, Izak Saayman en Sinethembe Zweni, ’n leeue-aandeel in die Durbies se sege van 33-13 gehad. In die B-afdeling van die Superliga het Noordelikes/Northlink-kollege se aanslag op bevordering na die A-afdeling ’n goeie hupstoot gekry toe hy met Helderberg, die voorloper op die punteleer, afgereken het. NNK is ná sy oortuigende oorwinning van 35-20 nou tweede op die puntelys agter Helderberg. Goodwood, wat deeglik walgooi om afskuiwing na die eerste liga te vermy, het weer ’n treetjie gevorder deur op ietwat verrassende wyse die wisselvallige Kuilsrivier met 26-25 te klop. Die gure weer het meegebring dat die wedstryd tussen Hands & Heart en Brackenfell uitgestel is. Belhar is geskeduleer om vanaand (Woensdag) die Maties op Stellenbosch te gaan aandurf. En die komende naweek is daar geen klubwedstryde nie as gevolg van die toetswedstryd Saterdag teen Argentinië op Nuweland. . Jan Loubser is die hoofafrigter van Durbanville/Bellville wat dié klub hierdie seisoen tot sulke besondere hoogtes gevoer het, en nie Jan Oosthuizen soos verlede week berig is nie.
