They’ve got to be doing something right at this Fourth Avenue stalwart. This hip café has been around for 40 years and its popularity hasn’t faded thanks to fresh salads with homemade dressing, hearty soups and sandwiches (we loved the French dip) and entrées that are both retro and modern. The pasta dishes are well executed, too. And the desserts, made in house, are outstanding. (12-19-13) $$ FEAST C 3719 E. Speedway Blvd. 326-9363. The Sonoran hot dog becomes the Sonoran bratwurst, locally made and topped with guindilla relish. Other entrées include delicious pasta and a wonderful tilapia. Desserts are top-notch, which is no surprise, since they’re made by the folks at The B Line. (8-1111) $$

Craving some crawdads? Just gotta have a piece of pecan pie? We recommend heading over to Don’s. This teeny joint offers some of the Old Pueblo’s best Cajun cooking. Diablo Burger is local through and through. The owners of the original Diablo Burger in Flagstaff, AZ have opened up a second location in our ever-expanding downtown. The burgers are deliciously dense and juicy, as long as you abide by the strongly suggested house rules and order them medium rare. The ingredients are all locally sourced and tend toward the sustainable model, which makes the burger even more delicious.
