Revolutionizing Engineering

Message from the Dean

Dear Stakeholder, The College of Engineering at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) has a tradition of excellence and a very strong reputation in graduating individuals sought after by industry because they are job-ready from day one. Our graduates are also highly regarded and recruited by the top U.S. graduate schools including MIT, Georgia Tech, University of Illinois and Yale, to name a few. As the new Dean, I intend to lead the College of Engineering from this position of strength to recapture its position as a preeminent College of Engineering. The faculty, staff, students, administration and alumni, in collaboration with industry and government leaders, developed a shared plan which includes the pathway forward to “2020 Destination → Eminence.” Our vision is “21st Century Renaissance Engineers Revolutionizing Engineering to Solve Societal Problems.” A 21st Century Renaissance Engineer brings innovation to both problem solving and technology that help to make the world a better place to live. We expect TTU to pioneer the graduation of such Renaissance Engineers. These Engineers will go on to be industry leaders, innovative business owners and successful entrepreneurs. They will define the future of their chosen field in the knowledge-driven global economy. Our Renaissance Engineers will display an education that embodies creativity and innovation in addition to technical leadership. They will creatively translate new discoveries from basic scientific research into technological projects, devices, systems and services that benefit society at the state, national and global levels. Our vision is ambitious and exciting. I am confident we will succeed by applying our full energy and working cooperatively. Our core values, ASPIRE to greatness, will guide us towards our goal in making the strategic plan a reality each day. It will take a collaborative effort of our leadership team, outstanding faculty, incredible staff, talented students, our dedicated alumni AND stakeholders like you. I look forward to a deeper partnership with you over this next decade and together achieving the position of eminence.
