The “Number Two” is not a number like the others. The “two” is a prime number, but we have rightly chosen to represent the second issue. the choice of that theme was so obvious to thrown us into crisis. The “two” is a prime number, the “Issue Number Two” should be an “unique” number. two is a magic and perfect number, which can also bewildered and frightened a little bit. The double suggests infinite possibilities: how many of us would had a little sister have had an imaginary friend, a double identity, an alter ego? According to some studies the concept of psychoanalysis is present in two defense mechanisms such as splitting and dissociation. Personally, we already struggle to manage one only identity, but the little sisters are cute. And what about the ubiquity? division between space and time, it is the dream of many people. And although for now is still only a dream, thanks to the eyes and images of our contributors even in this issue, we tried to be in several places at once. The two is the sign of the clash, the duality of opposites, good and evil, black and white, day light and dark. We do not want to do as the neo hippie who begin to speak of the ying and yang and how opposites are intimately fused and necessary to the existence of each other. There, now we did. (But some of the pictures published are the real testimony of how this happens many times.)The two rapresents also the paradox. The number two is the bettert to describe the exclusive and unique relationship of a couple of lovers or friends, a duet perfectly tuned. And many of the published images tell the nuances of this relationship. We also wanted to involve the geeks, with some beautiful representation of binary code, but apart from the one you see at the bottom, we did not succeed. Will be for next time. On the other hand they have to think about serious things, not like us.For its second edition Trust Me Mag joined more than twenty new artists from a lot of different places. For this second release trust me Mag decided to propose a bit peculiar format. To read it you have to split the page once, then twicw and then another tim...and please do not say that, at the end of the day,it is just a posters! before storing it in your bookcase you shouls also give a look at the “Twins’ reports”, with very beautiful(and amusing) pictures about the twins, and at selection of shots by Ivan Cazzola, a photographer who we particularly love, and that from today, if you didn’t know him, you will love too... no way.Once again... Trust me or just what you see

Manuela Costa Lima “The pictures were taken with a Mamiya 7 II, in daylight, about a month ago in my old house where I lived with two other persons. It is a portrait of me with my former roommate and friend Marta. Everybody has always exchanged each other, although a little similar. We spent the same places for a while, schools of photography, local, friends and no one has ever really learned who was called Marta and who Martina. After a year that we knew each other we discovered to be born the same day, October 4th. When we lived together, her mother phoned at home and thought I was her .. These photos are a kind of gift to our friendship and perhaps something that prevents us from losing contact, now that we no longer live together.”

Bogotà

The pics i’ve sent are the latest i’ve shot and were taken during a trip to bogota, in colombia. i was there to study the system of public transports they’ve created there - the transmilenio. it was a very simple solution of articulated buses combined with the incentive for biking and the creation of many parks. the whole story about bogota interested me a lot and so went i on my summer holidays. the city is really amazing and i just felt more than ever to look at it throgh calvino lenses. so every day i would just pick up an alleatory page of the book and search for that city in one shot. that was really nice and i’ll do it another time here in my city, sao paulo.

Valtour village on the Red Sea. Loneliness is a contagious disease, according to recent studies sticks as fever, infection after infection and society is disintegrating, in the literal sense of the word: dis-integrates. Two is the lowest common denominator of the human being, under which one becomes like 65 years old at the age of 25, grumbling against your coetaneous that crackle and celebrate.

Sedentary lifestyle make you fat, the office makes you hunched, who uses the gym as palliative subtracts hours of light to your metereopaty, the social ladder you said you would do and with whom to pick up silly girls when you was a teenager, offering as a lender high interest which would be accrued together with you, slowed alarmingly parallel to your metabolism since you signed your first internship contract. Being alone is sad, you can read in all the forums of desperate under xanax in dump, in the hollow eyes of all a bald fat man with a mephitic breath that you can find in every post office or bank of this world, in the artificial nail glitter of all divorced workers will smile to you during a merengue class in a last minute

So don’t waste your time reading my crap and look at all the cool things on this magazine, these people are around taking pictures, drawing, living, while you unattractive as a nerd in front in front of facebook and you 450 facebook friends that you actually ashamed even to say hello on the street. So exit, attends, participates. The world, will know, will alway be a shitty cesspool but, at least, you won’t be alone to face it. You’ll be two. it’s hard to say but I have to admit it, and in principle I hate a concept quoting a spot of ice cream, really: “Two is better than one”. “You say?” “I say what you want, as long as you take off the balls, I want to do and handjob, get out.”

to Be one, to be lonely individuals,to feel complete, occupying a satisfactory place in our own self-esteem is a utopian project. Loneliness is painful, challenging, forcing you to reflect and be reflected in the mirror questioning on the number of hair that falls in inverse proportion to the wrinkles that appear on what was once a smooth, beardless surface and now has a proliferation of hair ten times higher than the growth of HIV in third world countries. Loneliness is your worst envious colleague that highlights all centers that have not scored in your life.

Candido Godoi Terras des Gemeos

“Welcome to Candido Godoi, the city of twins, a village where everything is double and where weighs the legacy of Joseph Mengele, the nazist Dr.death. Gabriele Galimberti, photographer and Paul Manzo journalist have lived there a week to find out more about the mystery that gravity over this village of 6,000 inhabitants. “ It is not easy to get to Candido Godoi in the deep south of Brazil: 18 hours by bus from Sao Paulo, then a taxi, because there aren’t open lines of communication. Godoi is a pearl, is a happy island, which seems to not belong to Brazil. At Candido Godo everyone is blonde with blue eyes, and they are all, or almost, twins. Certainly the percentage than the national average is quite surprising and is around 1000%, or twins every five shares of a total of six thousand inhabitants.

gory Peck) and his pursuit by the protagonist Ezra (Lawrence Olivier). According to the story Mengele, would continue in this country its research on the Aryan race interupted in Germany, arriving there with a flap of skin and blood samples of Adolf Hitler, from which He’s like to clone many children identical to the Fuhrer. A terrible movie that has a real and dramatic corresponding in the experiments that Mengele had led up to ‘45. At Candide Godo nobody likes to talk about Mengele, the twins, many of them dizygotic and non-identical, reject their connection with Nazism and the “explanations” given by science seem much more plausible. So the village, eager to get rid of this uncomfortable connotation, has asked the government in conducting research on the subject. The research was conducted by geneticist Lavinia Schuler-Faccini of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Research has sunk into the past of the community trying to build a database of genes by analysis of baptismal certificates since 1927, a source that in a Catholic town as Candide Godoi allow to monitor more than 75% of births, The high incidence of twins is given a cross to the presence of Mengele, the twinning was present from the early decades of the century and shows no peaks in growth during the stay of the angel of death. According Faccini not even now there

to know more about it: _I gemelli di Mengele by Paolo Manzo, ph. Gabriele Galimberti blog.panorama.it/mondo/tag/candido-godoi/ 3 Febbraio 2010 _Nazi angel of death Josef Mengele ‘created twin town in Brazil’ by Nick Evans Telegraph_21 Jan 2009 _“Nazi Twins” a Myth: Mengele Not Behind Brazil Boom? by Brian Handwerk National Geographic News November 25, 2009

A Candido Godoi, City of twins, the duality is at every street corner. Double is the symbol of the country: two faces in profile, double are even the languages. Besides the Portuguese in everyday life is accompanied by the Hunsrückisch, a dialect spoken by the first German immigrants arrived in this area in late 19th century and remained essentially unchanged since then. The city has also a dual nature of ‘farming community and the land of twins’, and at the center of town there is also a museum that celebrates this kind of sibilings: The implications of this local peculiarities were sought in the science, in the environmental conditions, to sink into the darkest chapters in the history of the last century. And at this point the problems start, or rather, reveal the controversial aspects of this twin town, thar is located in the center of Brazil, but that looks like a Bavarian village. Jorge Camarasa, Argentine historian specializing in World War II wanted to know more about it. The book “Mengele, the angel of death in South America “ collects his research to determine the route of escape to South America Medical Third Reich, made largely through field analysis and interviews with the population. And so the Guinness curiosity have been replaced by a disturbing historical perspectives. “I think that Candido Godoi was the new Joseph Mengele ‘s open-air laboratory, where he could nourish the dream of a master race with blue eyes and blond hair,” Camarasa says. A grotesque and terrible legend, passed down through a few faded photos, is the Mrs. Schmitt’s one that was double as well, because she had two heads and a single body. Mrs. Schmitt was born with two heads. “With one she talked, listened with the other. with one she was sad, with the other happy.” But even with this Deformities She coul lead a normal life working as a seamstress and moving to the big city of Curitiba. Camarasa says that Mengele, arrived in Argentina in ‘45 under an assumed name, found work as a farmer. However, due to the capture of Adolf Eichmann, Nazi ruthless hierarch, by Israeli agents, Mengele would have gone off taking refuge in the German enclave of Colonias

Unidas in Paraguay. From there he started to visit the German communities beyond the borders of Brazil during the first years of ‘60s, covering his tracks few years after until his death in 1979 in Bertioga, Brazil. Once in Brazil, according to Argentine historian,He began to conduct genetic experiments on animals that were extremely successful among citizens of Candido Godoi because he was able to increase the number of animals in local farms rapidly. From that, to move to human experiment would be up shortly. The twins, on the other hand, had always been one obsessions of the doctor since the college years during which he became a supporter of the Professor Otmar von Verschuer’s theories who argued that the key to the creation of the Aryan race could be found in the twins’ biological system. And the relationship between genetic experiments and Brazil

already had a previous case in relation to the book of Camarasa in 1978 released the controversial film “The Boys from Brazil”, J. Franklin Schaffner and based on the novel by Ira Levin, who talked about the flight of Josef Mengele (Gregory Peck) and his pursuit by the protagonist Ezra (Lawrence Olivier). According to the story Mengele, would continue its research on the Aryan race started in Germany, arriving in the south american country with a flap of skin and blood samples of Adolf Hitler, from which many children to clone identical to the Fuehrer. And the relationship between genetic experiments and Brazil had a previous case in relation to the Camarasa’s book in 1978 when was released the controversial film “The Boys from Brazil” by J. Franklin Schaffner and based on the novel by Ira Levin, who talked about the flight of Josef Mengele (Gre-

is a significant downward trend (This was however refuted by some scientists that show a progressive decline in births twins),however that would be inevitable, says Gary Steinman, an expert on twins at Long Island Jewish Medical Center: “Even if Mengele had a drug that induces ovulation, would take effect only for a generation” and among other things “is not yet known someone in that era was aware of the genetic code, or that had the ability to alter genes in order to make certain inherited genetic traits, such as the “twins”. The causes might otherwise be sought in environmental factors: the presence of folic acid in water sources in the area, the identification of particular minerals in the soil or the diet of the inhabitants, in which is frequent consumption of dairy products. Another reason may simply be inherent in the closure outside the village community, or the

“Founder effect” as defined by Bruno Reversade, an expert on twins University of Singapore, who has studied similar cases, but not so famous , Nigeria and Romania. To confirm this theory the highest concentration of “ double” births is registered in the Linha São Pedro district about 10 km from the center by Candido Godoi, where in the 80 houses of the village, live 44 pairs of twins. The proneness to multiple births of the first inhabitants of the area combined with total isolation in which these people lived, has meant that the factor twins did not go to disappear. The assumptions are varied, but by now they are only hypotheses and, as says Anita de Flores da Silva, physician and former mayor of the city, “once again they will not get anywhere.” Da Silva is the first one to fully analyze the issue, evenbefore Camarasa. Digging in the memory of fellow former mayor he has stumbled several times in the itinerant doctor, remembered as the kind and respected Dr. Weiss. “In memory of so many women - said De Silva Camarasa - he was a doctor who went around from house to house, took care of varicose veins and handing out bottles of potions and pills ... sometimes he was even a dentist and he withdrewed blood to patients. “ Somebody says that he worked alone, others that he was been followed by his medical team. They say he traveled around the villages of the area tseeking Aryan families, like the Jair’s one, Jair, the father of Kitana and Tahuana, five years old twins, that comes from the Saar region on the border between France and Germany. The rumors about this mane are as many as the citizens are, everyone, especially older ones, have their own story to tell.”He asked us which diseases had our animals and told us not to worry because he could cure all of them, He seemed respectable and highly educated,” says the elder Aloisi Finkler. Leonard Boufler, another farmer only, remember the promises of Weiss. “He said he could provide artificial insemination for humans and animals, and we believed in him. Only now I realize that in these years he was the only one to claim to be able to do so.”This and many other stories confirm that Mengele was originally presented himselfas a veterinarian. It’s still a mystery whether the exceptional number of twins of the cows in the region is to be connected to the same human phenomenon. “Joseph Mengele spent more than a night here,” says Wilson Schwerner, always under the pseudonym of Rudolph Weiss. Others in the neighboring towns talk about him as a strange man, still locked in a sort of home-laboratory. Different names, but a unmistakable face. In every interview, showing a portrait of Mengele, the clear answer: “he’s him”. Others tells about a curandero, a figure between science and superstition, who presented to local people, including women, a mysterious tea, along with a cure for cuts. Other witnesses remember him as a peddler of clothing, others as a dentist who went around the region with a van, making blood collection and transfusions. It’s said that this doctor has teached to the local population the technique of the self-transfusion, still practiced in this area. So the Mengele’s specter continues to wander the streets and farms of this small country and this presence is difficult to handle and pass. The present time sounds more attractive for young guys of Candido Godoi who prefer to think of their future, the local football team, to become chemists or models, to move to a big city compared to confront the past, distant in time and space, but that continually resurfaces in their facial features, in their language, in the traditions of the community. The statistics say that the rate of twin births has decreased, as is fading the memory and interest in the people that live here.
