Staff Spotlight: Bryan Coburn By: Jon Michael Sprouse Mr. Coburn, the engineering teacher, here at Northwestern High School has been here for 26 years now. His class has been described as “…hard and complicated yet worth it in the end” and as “…the best class I have ever taken and I would take it again if I could.” When we asked Mr. Coburn what is his favorite part of teaching he said that being able to see his students inspired and being able to watch them grow. Mr. Coburn also does other things to spread education outside of school. At the moment he is working with Indie 500 on the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program. Also, he is a long standing teacher for Project lead the Way which is an effort of rigorous and innovative STEM education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S.

In past years, Coburn was named Northwestern’s Teacher of the Year and also won the prestigious SC State Teacher of the Year award.
