Welcome to the Showcase! Snowbirds ock south each year to soak in Florida’s sun and sand. But it’s a northward move that’s gaining major interest in real estate circles these days — namely, the trend of investors and developers looking north of Miami towards Broward County. With the Miami-Dade preconstruction market showing signs of leveling off, Broward is stepping up. This cycle there have been an impressive 80 new condo towers announced in Broward out of 343 in the tri-county area overall. That translates into 8,562 units in the works in Broward, giving the county a nearly 20 percent share of South Florida’s preconstruction condos — a seven-point increase over the previous year. The reason for the uptick? It’s partly a result of domestic buyers, who are increasingly active compared to foreign purchasers in South Florida, preferring Broward because of its lower prices.
