MY IDEA OF LUXURY TRAVEL INVOLVES GOING TO EXOTIC LOCATIONS. The one thing I really look forward to when I get to travel is the local cuisine. WE WENT TO MARRAKECH FOR OUR HONEYMOON. We stayed at the beautiful Amanjena. Our villa had a small cabana outside where we could eat our meals or just sit and enjoy the cool desert evenings. We also tried the local hammam treatment at the spa – just to experience what the locals do – and toured the souk, which had snake charmers, handcrafted items, and local produce like dates and spices. Another highlight of our visit was the home of Yves Saint Laurent. It had magnificent gardens with a lot of exotic flowers. The greenery was spectacular. MY MOST MEMORABLE DESTINATION SO FAR IS CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA. It was absolutely breathtaking to view the city from the top of Table Mountain. I was also able to do a mini-safari and seeing the Big 5 was simply marvelous. The drive to the park was also something else. The beauty of the land was indescribable.

I HAVE A LOT OF FAVORITE RESTAURANTS, BUT THREE STAND OUT. Café Musee in Paris, a small little corner café which serves excellent escargot and black pig stew; Ze Kitchen Gallerie, also in Paris, with Asian-French fusion type of cuisine; and Aman Bretagne, in Casablanca. Their lobster rice is exquisite.

Fashion MANY CITIES INSPIRE ME. I love Paris and London for their museums but I love France for setting the standard. Antwerp would be next for its new but also “old world” ease with style. I like northern Europe for its spacey modern designs. THERE ARE MORE FASHIONABLE AND TRENDY PEOPLE IN FASHION CAPITALS LIKE NEW YORK, PARIS, TOKYO AND MILAN. I’ve been traveling since the late 1970s, but the fashionable eras were really in the 1980s and 1990s. SOME OF MY FASHION HEROES are Coco Chanel for pioneering clothes for modern women and Vivienne Westwood for a new way of draping with British identity in her designs.

Retail NEW YORK IS MY FAVORITE CITY FOR ANYTHING. It is so vibrant, and with so many choices. My favorite parts about New York are the different areas and people. You can be in the East Village one minute, and a few blocks away, there is the West Village which has a completely different vibe. I AM A CAREFUL SHOPPER. I love buying clothes and accessories like earrings and necklaces. But I take my time with bigger purchases like bags, shoes, or luggage. MY FAVORITE SHOPS ABROAD are Urban Outfitters, Lane Crawford, and Selfridges. These are very interesting and fun to shop at.

Events I MAKE SURE I GET A GOOD BALANCE OF SHOPPING AND CREATIVE INSPIRATION when traveling. I visit malls to check out the latest collection from international designers. I visit historic museums to see the culture of the city and make sure to see the latest performances in the city from musicals to plays and dance ensembles. TRAVELING TO SOUTH AMERICA CHANGED THE WAY I SAW LIFE. It was life changing when I visited a quaint city called El Calafate in Argentina. Seeing the glaciers as vast as my eyes can see made me truly say God’s creation is beyond amazing. It brought me to a new dimension.

TRAVELING OPENS MY MIND TO NEW PERSPECTIVES not only in my career but for my personal life as well. Traveling is like going to school. I absorb all the good things I see and feel. As of this writing, I am currently in London embracing the vibrant creative energy of the city. I share my experience with my Saga creative team and discuss possible ideas for our events.

I used to drea m to direct and produce shows for big designe rs, but now, I would like to open doors for F ilipino designe rs and brands in other parts of the world.

TravelifeStyleTRAVELIFE MAGAZINE TRAVEL UNITED KINGDOM SILVERSEA Food & Beverage Martin & Madonna: WE’VE BEEN LUCKY TO TRAVEL A LOT OVER THE PAST YEARS and we always buy something on our trips. We’ve spent a lot of time in Morocco, where we got some great artisan pieces like beautiful antique Berber wedding gowns in royal blue and velvet. We’re still looking for somewhere to put them but eventually we’ll find a spot for them. WE HAVE A SHARED PASSION FOR FOOD. As a couple, we tend to dine out a lot. We’ve had Kasbah in Boracay for around five years now, and this is where we’ve met some great friends and shared many a good night. We’ve also been to Ibiza a couple of times together and always enjoyed the laid back vibe and amazing restaurants.

Madonna: I GET INSPIRATION FROM EVERYWHERE. But mostly from going to places where there are layers thrown in like souks and flea markets, and where you get more interaction with real people and your sense of smell is heightened. I get more excited with places where I can explore and dig up some finds. LONDON’S COSMPOLITAN VIBE IS UNMATCHABLE. With one third of the city’s population coming from all over the world, this incredible mix gives it a tremendous vibrancy I don’t find anywhere else. TOKYO IS A SEXY CITY in the sense that they have sophisticated railways, astonishing skyscrapers, an orgasmic food scene, and weird and wonderful museums. It also has a crazy creative buzz and energy.
