The Group and Rally Center

Hewick Plantation

The Group and Rally Center was designed to be reminiscent of the original barn at the Historic Bethpage Dairy Farm with red siding, white tin roof and fencing. The inside is anything but rustic. This modern facility is a unique venue not found on most campgrounds. The interior is a 12,000 square foot open ballroom, with a gray slate floor, heart pine beams and large windows. Just through the double glass doors at the rear of the building is one of the most beautiful spots on the resort. A wide covered veranda overlooking our marina and Robinson’s Creek, offers a shaded vista to enjoy the refreshing breezes off the river. Many a guest has wandered out during a party for a breath of fresh air and a quiet view. Whether it’s a seated dinner for 600, a business meeting, holiday party or wedding reception, the Group and Rally Center can accommodate any type of gathering.

Three centuries ago, in 1678, one of the most significant manors in Virginia, originally named The Grange, was constructed by Christopher Robinson, who had arrived in the Colony from England about 1666. His son, Christopher Robinson II, upon inheriting the estate, renamed the plantation Hewick for the ancestral Robinson home in England. Christopher Robinson II was Clerk of Middlesex County and served two terms in the House of Burgesses. He was a member of the King’s Council, appointed the Secretary of Foreign Plantations and was an original Trustee of the College of William and Mary.

The 500 square foot stage has state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, stage lighting and a drop down projection screen. The facility has a full compliment of catering services offered through our chef on staff. There is an extensive array of menus from which to choose and everything is prepared on site. From Barbeque to Chateaubriand, sit-down dinner to buffet, we can accommodate. What could be simpler than having your party at the Group and Rally Center and having your guests stay in the fully equipped Family Vacation Rentals? For more details on packages, please give us a call at (804)758-4349.

Hewick is listed in the Virginia Historic Landmarks Register and on the National Registry of Historic Places. Currently, Hewick is undergoing extensive restoration with the grounds available to the public as an event venue. The renovation of the historic grounds and building add to the history and heritage of Bethpage Camp-Resort. Hewick is truly a historic, special event venue like no other. Hewick’s magnificent tree-lined drive and meticulously restored landscape welcome you to a piece of history. The beauty of the grounds and majesty of the house are a perfect backdrop for your wedding, dinner party or any special occassion. The staff of Bethpage and Hewick are attentive to each and every detail of planning and execution. Hewick View Cottage Rentals are available to accomodate guests during your special event.
