TOWN OF VICTORIA PARK
PLAN FOR THE
FUTURE Community Consultation with CEO
The Draft Plan for the Future was put out for community consultation from 4 January to 11 February 2011. Copies of the draft plan were put on display at the Council Administration Building, the Library, Aqualife Centre and Leisurelife Centre. An additional consultation kiosk was trialled at The Park Centre which was staffed by the Town’s CEO Arthur Kyron and Senior Executives. This new approach to consultation was welcomed by over 90 people who stopped by to ask questions and give their ideas. Feedback was sought on the following key points: 1. Key assumptions upon which the 15 year financial plan is based; 2. Proposed borrowing to fund a major Town Centre redevelopment; 3. Five outcome areas, programs that focus on the
Community Life; Business Life, Renew Life, Built Life and Future Life of the Town; 4. A new structure aligned to the 5 program areas; 5. A new mission - Victoria Park: Vibrant Lifestyle 6. The identification of major projects under each program area; 7. Proposed Specified Area Rates over and above standard rates paid in selected areas; 8. Possible option of not fully replacing the Leisurelife Centre facility as a result of the Town Centre redevelopment; 9. Possible land sales to fund major projects set out in the plan; 10. Paid parking off main-street and other selected locations in the Town. A number of responses have been received with the majority indicating support for the future direction. The Draft Plan for the Future along with comments and feedback was presented to Council for consideration at the 22 February Ordinary Council Meeting.
