Brollo the Brolly hated the rain. A single drop would make him complain.

He hated the raindrops, cold and fat. Brollo wished he was home with Elly the cat.

Brollo returned dripping and wet, he shivered and realised he felt quite upset. ‘Never again will I be forced to go out, I’ll stay right here or I’ll shout, shout, shout.’

Mum reached for Brollo when the rain clouds groaned. He shook his head, ‘I’m staying home.’

The clouds grew dark and Dad said, ‘let’s go.’ Brollo shook his head and said, ‘Oh, no, no, no.’

So on his hook is where Brollo stayed, and didn’t budge when the skies turned grey. An odd thing happened as Brollo stayed dry. Brollo felt sad and didn’t know why.

‘Why oh why?’ Brollo said without clue. Then he saw Mum completely soaked through. Brollo realised he had been selfish, and now poor Mum was as wet as a goldfish.

Next time the rain fell he said to Mum, ‘Let’s go, let’s go. It’ll be fun.’

Brollo was happy, it was easy to tell. Now that his family were happy and well.
