Owner Suzanne Deason

VILLAGE HOME ZIONSVILLE PROVIDES HOME DECOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing Photographer / Amy Payne

From 1999 until 2006, Suzanne Deason owned and operated At Home in the Village, a furniture store located on Zionsville’s Main Street in a historic church space. In 2006 she and her husband Dion, who is also her business partner, moved to Dion’s home state of South Carolina where they renovated the former mayor’s mansion. “It was the whole ‘Designing Women,’ Suzanne Sugarbaker life,” says Deason with a chuckle. Though they enjoyed the charm of living in the south, the couple always knew they wanted to come back to Zionsville as they appreciated the deep sense of community, and the way residents support local businesses.

“We missed Zionsville a lot and still had friends and clients here,” Deason says. Last year the pair returned to their roots and reopened their furniture store during Thanksgiving weekend in a different location. Since they are now located on East Cedar Street they changed their name slightly, to Village Home Zionsville. Though the name is different, the concept is the same. Customers can buy off the floor in the shop, or custom order items. “Most of our vendors are designer oriented so you have options of fabric, finish, sizing - things you might not get in a big-box store that has just the name-brand stuff,” Deason says. Deason does full-service interior design as well including kitchen and bath, and the business offers carpets, rugs and 6 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / OCTOBER 2020 / atZionsville.com

flooring. Because they buy direct from a manufacturer, they can save customers money while putting a comprehensive look together. “From A to Z we can do it all, though a lot of people don’t know that when they first walk into the store,” Deason says. “They think we’re just a little furniture shop, but they soon realize the scope of what all we can do.” That scope includes new construction, renovations, and both commercial and residential projects. When working to create an interior design concept, Deason asks her clients to share color and style preferences, as well as likes and dislikes. “Sometimes people know what they don’t like more than they know what they do,” she says. “That helps too. I just like to get that communication going. Sometimes

people will say, ‘I don’t care what you do as long as it fits my lifestyle.’” Though the showroom is not huge, the business carries more than 150 lines of furniture, accessories and lighting. Deason can access inventory information at any hour of the day to see what’s coming. Many of Deason’s clients have their own professional location or office space, and once Deason has worked on a house, clients will sometimes invite her to help enhance their work environment. She has also worked on branding for clients. For example, one of Deason’s clients wanted to open a yogurt shop but had no clue where to start. “They requested that we do something fun and funky so we branded their color, style and all of their machines,” Deason says. When the coronavirus pandemic hit, Deason had to adjust like many other business owners. Though she was forced to close her doors, she made herself available to the community by putting a sign in her front window that said, “If you need to get in to look at something, call and make an appointment or reach out on Facebook.” She continued to sell furniture, and many people were grateful because they were forced to start working and schooling at home, and as such needed chairs, desks, and tables big enough for kids to sit around. “None of us saw it coming so we all had to think on our feet,” Deason says. One endeavor that has helped Deason through this season of uncertainty is her involvement with the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce. “I’ve experienced chambers in other areas, and the Zionsville Chamber is spot-on,” Deason says. “They are always asking what they can do for us businesses and how they can help.” She references the weekly “Night on the Bricks” event that the Chamber quickly atZionsville.com / OCTOBER 2020 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / 7

organized this summer to increase foot traffic to downtown establishments during the pandemic. “You can’t make somebody shop or spend money, but you can expose them to what makes up Zionsville so that down the road when they need that lamp or that dress, they will think of downtown Zionsville stores,” says Deason, adding that the Chamber has also done a great job of drawing attention to women merchants in Zionsville. Deason is proud to be one of them. “I love what I do,” Deason adds. “I’ve managed through the years and survived running a business through a pandemic, so obviously something is clicking and we’re doing something right.” Village Home Zionsville is located at 27 East Cedar Street in Zionsville. EAT THE FROG FITNESS 10895 N. Michigan Rd.,Suite 150 Zionsville, IN 317-932-3764 EatTheFrogFitness.com Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing Photographer / Kelli White

General Manager Megan Keenan

Hayley Murray and her husband Ryan were on a flight home from Phoenix when they began talking to a fellow traveler who had just attended a training seminar for Eat the Frog Fitness. When they heard about the unique training concept they were hooked, as they are both entrepreneurs and fitness buffs. Eat the Frog was co-founded by Bryan Clay, an Olympic gold medalist who was named “World’s Greatest Athlete” in 2008. “He knew the importance of cross-training and changing up the workouts because that’s where you see the best results for your body,” Murray says. The concept incorporates bikes, rowers, weights and bags. Coaches guide clients through a fitness assessment and based on those results, they create a customized guide that includes cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and core training, as well as recovery steps. “We also customize your heart-rate training zones based on your individual efforts, which makes workouts more effective,” Murray says. Eat the Frog offers high-intensity, lowimpact workouts that can be done at each member’s convenience, as the club offers 24-hour access both virtually and in person. During business hours, clients can sign up for a personalized, coach-led session, and during off-hours they can follow virtual workouts. The name of the facility was inspired by

the following Mark Twain quote: “Eat a live frog first thing every morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” “The idea is to get the hard things done first,” Keenan says. “For a lot of people, their frog is fitness, so just go ahead and get it out of your way and you”ll feel good about your day.” Murray decided to open an Eat the Frog franchise in Zionsville, and recruited Megan Keenan to join as general manager. Keenan, a travel soccer coach who shares in the Murrays’ passion for health, has enjoyed helping people in their fitness journey. “Meeting all of the members and getting healthy together has been the best part of the job,” Keenan says. “The people in this community want to support one another. I think that’s where people find success through support of others.” Keenan says the type of workout offered at Eat the Frog can benefit anyone, regardless of age, gender or fitness level. “We just had a man join who’s 82 years atZionsville.com / OCTOBER 2020 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / 9

old,” says Keenan, noting that anyone aged 16 or older is welcome to join. Murray says that prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the company was already incorporating technology into their concept. This helped when the pandemic hit, because the Eat the Frog corporate team was able to provide at-home workouts via a smartphone application, which members can use at their convenience. “That’s so important both for physical and mental health,” Murray says. “We’ve been doing boot camps during the pre-opening process, and the people who have joined are so much fun. I look forward to going out for a drink or a meal after a workout. They want to be healthy but are fun to be around.” EAT THE FROG OFFERS HIGH-INTENSITY, LOWIMPACT WORKOUTS THAT CAN BE DONE AT EACH MEMBER’S CONVENIENCE, AS THE CLUB OFFERS 24-HOUR ACCESS BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON.

ZIONSVILLE OLIVE OIL BRINGS THE FLAVOR TO MAIN STREET

Writer / Julie Yates Photography Provided by Azia Ellis-Singleton and Haley McCloskey

Nestled on a side street just off of the Main Street shops, Zionsville Olive Oil is dedicated to bringing customers the freshest products available. The shop offers olive oils with health benefits, including many infused with delicious flavors. Its varieties of balsamic vinegars, along with provided recipes, make everyday cooking a little bit easier and much more fun. Owners Angie McCloskey and Julie Wooldridge are longtime local residents. Both grew up in Fountain County, Indiana, but as adults, they ended up raising their families in Zionsville. Three years ago while vacationing together in Wisconsin, the two women wandered into an olive oil shop. Co-Owner Julie Wooldridge

“Separately, we had both shopped in olive oil stores before and I had already fallen in love with vinegars,” McCloskey says. “When we went into the store together, we both turned to each other and said, ‘Why isn’t a store like this in Zionsville?’” The shop offers several choices of highquality, pure olive oil, priced from $6 for a

small bottle to $33 for a large quantity. The top seller at the store is the Family Reserve olive oil, made from picual olives that give it a fruity flavor with medium intensity. A close second is Tuscan Herb, which is infused with herbs and garlic. “I didn’t want to do retail by myself and neither did Angie, so we decided to open the store together,” Wooldridge adds. “Now we are celebrating our second anniversary. We’ve had steady growth the last two years and built up loyal customers.” Prices for vinegars are the same as olive oils, and include both dark and white balsamic. Traditional 18 Year is the most popular flavor, followed by Italian Raspberry, which is made with fresh raspberry puree. Also in demand is Sicilian Lemon, which customers tend to use in salad dressings. “There are so many varieties that we encourage people to taste,” McCloskey says. “The oils and vinegars are in large silver containers with caps called fustis. Before COVID, people could help themselves to sample. Post-COVID, all customers have to do is ask us. We

glove up, wear a mask and follow health guidelines for a contactless tasting.” Olive oils and vinegars can be paired together, and the shop provides recipes and suggestions for delicious combinations. Before the coronavirus pandemic, the shop’s online store was already up and ready for customers to order online. Free local delivery or pickup from the store has been initiated and is continuing. Weekday orders are delivered between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. “We want to aid the ease of cooking and help people out in the kitchen,” Wooldridge says. “Because our products are already infused with flavor, they save time. You don’t have to chop a lot of ingredients after working all day. Just drizzle and go.” Zionsville Olive Oil is located at 31 East Pine Street in Zionsville. THE RINEBOLD COMPANY 49 Boone Village, #252 Zionsville, IN 317-732-5056 rineboldresults.com Writer / Seth Johnson Photographer / Brosmer Photographic JoJo Rinebold

The Rinebold Company is all about strategy, execution and results. “Clients hire me for any one of those needs but the conversation often starts in a much different way. Sometimes it is as basic as them recognizing they need help.” says JoJo Rinebold, the company’s principal. “Where we always start is by understanding the current state of their brand. And when we finish, my goal is for both of us to walk away knowing that the client is in a great position to leverage their brand to achieve the results they want.” Based in Zionsville, The Rinebold Company provides brand strategy and communications consultation to clients of varying size, profile, industry and reach. JoJo Rinebold has more than 30 years of experience in brand strategy, communications, market research, project management and special event development, including a previous position with the NCAA. Originally from St. Louis, Rinebold attended Emory University before moving to Washington, D.C., where she worked her way up the company ladder at a sports marketing firm. “I started out as a secretary answering phones and left seven years later as an assistant vice president. It was a phenomenal experience that gave me tremendous opportunities to learn,” Rinebold says. “The parent company represented professional athletes as well as sporting events and rights holders. The particular area I worked in was television, specifically representing sports properties

to international broadcasters.” During her time in sports marketing, Rinebold worked with the NCAA Championships, which exposed her to the NCAA National Office. She eventually found herself living in Indianapolis as an employee of the NCAA. “I worked for the NCAA for 13 years, starting out overseeing the media relationships between the NCAA, ESPN and CBS,” Rinebold says. “Over time, I took on more responsibilities dealing with corporate sponsorships, championship marketing, community outreach and the Hall of Champions. The list of responsibilities grew over time and ultimately led to a role leading the Association’s first formalized brand strategy.” In the midst of a leadership change at the NCAA, Rinebold decided to make the most of the relationships she had fostered through the years. “I loved what I was doing but wanted to do it in a different environment where I had greater control over my time.” Rinebold still works with college sportsrelated entities, but the company’s client base has expanded to national member organizations, small to medium-sized businesses with regional and national footprints - across a variety of industries, for profit and non-profits. “The problems my clients are trying to solve are universal. What differs is how they execute the solution and for whom.” 18 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / OCTOBER 2020 / atZionsville.com

Regarding brand and marketing strategy, Rinebold sums these concepts up simply. “The root of any company or organization’s success is going to be how effective they are in building relationships with their customers, their audiences or whomever their constituents are,” she says. “In order to do that, you have to know what makes you unique and ultimately valuable. Then you have be disciplined about executing on that in every aspect of your communications, operations and decisionmaking.” Rinebold and her family appreciate living in Zionsville and are grateful for all of the opportunities they have to get involved - in particular Zionsville Little League. “There was so much that happened in that time period in Lions Park that led to so many other great things, primarily the people we met as a result,” Rinebold says. “Our kids played many sports, but it was really ZLL that exposed us to what the Zionsville community has to offer.”

Sometimes a dog can make all the difference. No one knows this better than the folks at the Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN). Founded in February of 2002, the statewide nonprofit has helped restore a sense of hope and independence to two groups of people - those with disabilities and those who benefit from having a service dog, as well as the inmates who train the canines. Though the organization also places dogs to help with diabetic and seizure alert, it focuses primarily on mobility assistance. ICAN typically has about 60 dogs in its program at any given time. They work out of three state prisons - the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis, the Pendleton Correctional Facility, and the Correctional Industrial Facility at Pendleton. “We’re a pretty unique program,” says Denise “Dino” Sierp, ICAN’s director of development and outreach. “There are maybe two or three programs in the country where the prison training program has a mission to rehabilitate. It’s not just a job.” ICAN has eight paid staff members and roughly 200 volunteers who spend their time and energy ensuring that the program is a success. This includes whelpers and litter sitters (people who help the breeder dog and new puppies), as well as puppy raisers, furlough parents, and people who drive the dogs to appointments.

PAW PARTNERS

ICAN Training Program Changes Lives

atZionsville.com / OCTOBER 2020 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / 19

When their beloved family dog passed away in the fall of 2018, Lori Steininger and her husband joined the volunteers at ICAN and furloughed dogs-in-training. “ICAN is truly a win-win,” Steininger says. “The act of training and caring for these dogs makes such an impact on [prisoners’] mental health and future lives. On the other end of the leash, the client’s life is impacted deeply by a partner that can help that person become independent.”

For the first 16 weeks, the puppies go to a puppy raiser in order to socialize them and expose them to the smells, sounds and sights of the world - “everything from televisions, vacuum cleaners and dishwashers to children, men and people with funny hats,” Sierp says. This stage helps to prevent any potential issues that can interfere with training down the road. The dogs go to the prison to learn basic and intermediate cues, and after 14 to 15 months, the training transitions to preparing the canines for client-specific tasks such as removing clothes from a dryer, opening doors, and pulling covers up in a bed. Every six weeks the dog goes to furlough volunteers like Steininger, who reinforce the skills the dog has learned in the prison environment. They take the dogs out to parks, grocery stores, ball fields, restaurants - places they can’t go in a prison environment - and report back to the handler about how the dogs fare. In a non-pandemic year, the program graduates 20 to 22 canines. If they cannot be placed in this manner, ICAN tries to place them in another capacity, such as a

police dog or some other kind of publicassistance dog. As the inmates are engaged in training, they too are learning important life skills such as how to communicate and how to take criticism. Plus, the dogs teach them how to trust, grow confidence and build self-esteem. Above all, the dog, with its unconditional love, teaches forgiveness. “The dogs heal broken spirits,” says Jillian Ashton, president of ICAN. “It’s a pretty powerful program.” When the inmate transfers the dog to the client, it’s a magical moment. “These families’ lives have been changed or altered from what they thought it would be,” Ashton says. “Either their disability or their incarceration made them look at the world in a different way. Both can be very isolating.” When the two parties come together, suddenly their history doesn’t matter. It’s only about the future and how it now looks brighter. 20 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / OCTOBER 2020 / atZionsville.com

“Together they find meaning through the conduit of a dog,” Ashton says. “At the end of the day, everyone gains self-worth and independence, and isn’t that what we’re all trying to gain in life? We just want to matter in the world. The dogs help us facilitate that.” Every year the ICAN hosts the annual Wine & Wags event, their biggest fundraiser. Fundraising is crucial because the cost to train each dog is $25,000. “That’s a lot of kibble, vet care and training,” says Ashton, noting that ICAN provides lifetime support for their clients. “It doesn’t end when we exchange the leash over to the client.” The Wine & Wags event, which typically attracts between 550 and 600 people, will be virtual this year on October 8 due to the pandemic. Attendees will still get to hear testimonials from clients, prison inmate handlers, and others who will speak on how ICAN has impacted their lives. This year meteorologists Chuck Lofton and Nicole Misencik will host. Lofton knows firsthand about the impact the ICAN can make, because his wife Mary has one of ICAN’s service dogs.

ZIONSVILLE’S ONLY ON-SITE CLEANERS!

The organization recently relocated to Zionsville to provide more room for administrative staff, and for training (both two-legged and four-legged) to take place on the grounds. “It’s doubling our space from where we were,” Ashton says. Though its offices are located in Zionsville, the ICAN team serves people in Noblesville, Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Brownsburg, and throughout central Indiana. Ashton recalls the time when a mother came into the office several weeks after an ICAN dog had been placed with her child, and she remembers how rested the woman looked. “I’ve been sleeping for the first time in 17 years,” the mother said. “I know the dog isn’t Lassie and can’t solve all our problems, but it has provided so much peace in our family.” The ICAN office is located at 5100 Charles Court, Suite 100 in Zionsville. THE CARING CENTER

Lebanon-Based Company Helps Those in Need Writer / Trisha Turner Photography Provided

In the 1980s, when members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon started a phone service to assist Boone County residents in whatever way they could, most callers reported that they needed help just making ends meet. Food and clothing were the most requested items. Today the nonprofit organization that grew from that phone service continues to provide food and clothing at no cost, as well as a variety of other basic needs. That organization is the Caring Center. “We’ve changed, but I think the heart of the organization always has been to meet people where they are, and not just say, ‘Well shame on us. Look at where we are,’” says Executive Director Theresa Hanners. “Instead we say, ‘Here we are. Where do you want to be?’”

Hanners has served as executive director for approximately 25 years, currently overseeing the organization with a board of directors. She’s been affiliated with the program since becoming a volunteer shortly after moving to Lebanon more than 30 years ago. In the decades since Hanners got involved, the program has expanded to provide personal care items, furniture and other household materials, transitional housing, and a community garden. Trucks from the Caring Center pick up food from schools, restaurants and grocery stores through a food rescue program, and they collect furniture donations from individuals and businesses. The Caring Center also presents food and budgeting classes, and hosts a cooking club. Its representatives conduct exercises in the community that educate groups about the challenges of living in poverty.

22 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / OCTOBER 2020 / atZionsville.com

The center steers families toward choices that will aid their success - choices like selecting healthy foods at the pantry, even foods they haven’t tried in the past. “Breaking the cycle of generational poverty - they’re doing it,” Hanners says of families who seek help from her organization. “One of the things we talk about in our ‘Getting Ahead in a Just-Getting-By World’ program is understanding the power in the choices we make every day.” The center offers much of its assistance at its main location on Ransdell Court in Lebanon. The 5,500-square-foot facility houses a food pantry, furniture and household items. A separate thrift shop called Classic Reruns, located on Indianapolis Avenue in Lebanon, offers discounted merchandise like clothing and furniture, with sales helping to support the Caring Center. The center’s transitional housing is on Main

Street in Lebanon. Normally around 25 volunteers assist at the Caring Center at any given time according to Hanners. However, the coronavirus pandemic had an effect on volunteer numbers, and a variety of other aspects of the center’s operations. Precautions required during the pandemic cut into the ranks of volunteers. The center also had to limit its in-person services. Nevertheless, the demand for assistance has remained. Each month, for example, the center provides approximately 11 tons of food to Boone County residents, helping between 350 and 400 families. Those numbers represent a 17% increase compared to the spring of 2019. Hanners says many people needed additional help in March. At that time, as the government, other charitable organizations, and individuals boosted

COVID-19 support, demand leveled off. By July the center was receiving more requests for help than usual. One story of hardship during the pandemic stood out to Hanners. A husband was battling COVID-19 symptoms while his wife received hospice care for cancer. As the couple struggled, the woman’s nurse contacted the Caring Center. The center sprang into action, first reaching out to the man and woman to determine how best to help. The Caring Center worked to meet the couple’s needs, regularly delivering food and gift cards. When the woman passed away later in the spring, “there wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” Hanners says. “Then those tears turned to smiles when we realized we’d made things easier for them. They had everything they needed, and they didn’t atZionsville.com / OCTOBER 2020 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / 23

have to worry about it.” The practice of checking in with families first, to learn how the Caring Center can help, and then addressing those specific needs, remains at the heart of the organization’s approach. “We think of it as a chance for everybody to do better - like a second chance,” Hanners says. “Once we get to know you better, we can look at how you got here and where you want to go. We try to walk beside the family to help them become food-secure and self-sufficient.” The Caring Center is headquartered at 1230 Ransdell Court in Lebanon. rand Champion Janel Keesling knows what it’s like to walk into a car dealership as a woman and feel pressured and overwhelmed. “We’d like to think the world treats women equally, but there are presumed biases,” says Keesling, who, along with her husband Cole, owns CarSnoop, an innovative way to buy, lease or trade-in a vehicle from your phone, or computer. The beauty of CarSnoop is that dealerships don’t have any idea of the customer’s gender or race—only the city in which they reside. Hence, the buying experience is simplified. “In light of the pandemic, we’ve all changed the way we buy everything,” says Keesling, noting that consumers would rather browse for cars while relaxing on their back porch than wander countless dealerships. “We do all the legwork and even have a full concierge service to find the car you desire,” says Keesling. “Want a blue 2020 Honda Accord with XYZ features? We’ll find the best offers from dealerships.” CarSnoop enables the buyer to do all the paperwork from home and then they deliver the car directly to your home. “You literally don’t have to go anywhere,” says Keesling. “It’s a stress-free experience all the way around.”

TIPS FOR HOSTING THE PERFECT

PARTY

Writer / Abigail Hake atZionsville.com / OCTOBER 2020 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / 25

pooky days are on their way, and many of us are in need of any reason to decorate or party lately. While the times continue to be a little hairy, there’s still room to have fun, especially during the Halloween season. Here are a few tips on how to throw a spook-tacular Halloween party for you and your friends.

have to be fancy, but it can be. The biggest factors to consider are restrooms and overall space. This year especially, make sure that whatever venue you choose has enough room for your guests to spread out a little. If the party won’t be at your own home, check to make sure the venue owners allow decorations, because that’s up next…

INVITATIONS

DECORATIONS

This might be the year to indulge in creative invites. With fewer social opportunities to see friends and family in person, an actual mailed invite to your guests would be appreciated. Depending on the guest list, create your own or order pre-made invitations and add your own little touch. Throw in something spooky like a slimy crawler or tiny spiders so that when your guests open it, they’ll really be wowed!

LOCATION

Will the gathering be outside or inside? At your house or another location? It doesn’t

First, you might want to decide whether your party will be full-on scary, or just a little spooky yet family friendly. Regardless, a party is always more fun when the location is decorated so don’t skimp. You can keep it simple with spiderwebs, pumpkins and bats, or go a little crazier by adding mischievous skeletons to every room. Maybe include a skeleton that guests can pose with for a photo. Add some haunted decorations outside to welcome your guests in. Don’t be afraid to do something unconventional. If there is ever a time to try something crazy, it’s during Halloween. 26 / ZIONSVILLE MAGAZINE / OCTOBER 2020 / atZionsville.com

COSTUMES

Encourage your guests to dress up, and make sure this is included on the invite so there’s no confusion. Maybe even note that there will be a costume contest, with a few different categories and a prize. You can even make your own trophy to give out at the end of the night. Once people know there is a prize involved, they’ll really up their costume game.

GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

Make sure there’s something available to entertain your guests as well. If you are partying outside, indulge in yard games like spooky cornhole with ghosts added to the boards. Pumpkin ring toss is a great game that’s super easy too. Use glow necklaces or bracelets as rings to play after dark. Consider a craft station where kids can make their own trick-or-treat bags to take home.

FOOD

This is where it can get really fun. Try a hand

ice cube floating in your punch bowl, witches’ fingers or band-aid biscuits, to name just a few. Research websites like Pinterest, and you’ll find loads of horrific and blood-curdling treat ideas.

MUSIC

This is key for any party. Curate your own playlist to ensure continued spooky sounds for the entire night. Make sure you include classics like “Monster Mash” and “Thriller” on there. Once you’ve completed it, make sure to put it on repeat so you don’t run out of mood music throughout the evening. Your guests will love the theme music and it will keep everyone feeling good. With these tips, you should be well on your way to throwing a memorable party that will be the talk of October. Remember, this is a time to be silly and creative, so don’t hold back. As always, stay safe and have fun!

ARIA APARTMENTS BRINGS MODERN APPEAL & PLENTIFUL AMENITIES TO ZIONSVILLE Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing Photographer / Amy Payne

Sometimes properties are built with a specific demographic in mind, but that’s not the case with Aria Apartments, Zionsville’s newest luxury apartment community.

targeting a certain demographic, because they wanted to welcome everyone from every age and stage of life. “That’s a good thing that we have appealed to a wide range of people,” Johnson says. “That’s precisely what makes a community.”

“We are attracting a diverse group of residents,” says Zina D. Johnson, Aria’s property manager. “This includes families, young professionals, millennials, singles and retirees who no longer want to do yard work. Here, residents have everything at their fingertips.”

Offering one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes with amenities like a resort-style pool, fitness center, free weights, group exercise, shuffle board, pool table and golf simulator, the property also boasts a craft room, which is ideal for residents who want to host paint-and-wine nights or other fun crafting events.

When designing the concept to bring luxury multifamily housing to Zionsville, the property developer and owner, Cityscape Residential, wasn’t necessarily

designated for those DIYers,” Johnson says. The community, which includes 218 luxury units, also includes two dog parks, a dog run, detached and semi-detached garages, bike storage, and general storage. “We also have a spa room where residents can book a massage right here onsite,” says Johnson, adding that the community has both the look and feel of a deluxe hotel. Leasing for the pet-friendly property began earlier this spring. Thus far, Aria has 35 new residents who have moved in. Managed by Praxm Management in partnership with Cityscape Residential, the apartments are quickly getting snatched up as folks are finding the area ideal for many reasons.

Not only is Aria located close to the interstate and just 20 minutes from downtown Indy, but it’s also close to shopping destinations and has great walkability to Zionsville, with Stone Creek Dining Company and The Woodhouse Day Spa nearby. Additionally, new construction is happening near the property including Bru Burger, which is being built directly across from the community. “People appreciate having the downtown feel of Zionsville while at the same time enjoying city life,” Johnson says. “It’s country-city living.” Being in Zionsville means that residents can ride bikes, go for a stroll, or just go across the street to Kroger for groceries. Resident Alexander Buckley calls Aria the best housing option in Zionsville.

“It’s an impressive new apartment complex,” Buckley says. “The staff is informative and helpful. There are lots of floor-plan options - modern updates, sleek design, nice amenities.” Apartments are decked out with modern cabinets, granite countertops, pendant lighting and vinyl wood flooring. Community response continues to be largely positive as word spreads about the amenities and location. Darius Johnson says he was searching high and low for a new apartment when he came across Aria and was thoroughly impressed. “The Aria is a beautiful, luxury, affordable complex with close access to major thoroughfares,” he says. “The staff is kind, helpful and actually feels like friends more than managers.”

Zina Johnson is always happy to help guide community members, and answer any and all questions they have. “A lot of residents are looking to move into something brand new, sparkly and shiny,” Johnson says. Select units offer a wrap-around patio or balcony, wine refrigerator, desk area, split bedrooms and wheelchair accessibility. In addition, the property has a sun deck, wet bar, full-service coffee lounge, game room, private conference room, and Wi-Fi business center. Furnished options are also available. “It’s absolutely amazing - just a beautiful community to live in,” Johnson says. Michael Jaegers, who moved into Aria this summer, appreciates the community’s

modern, vibrant appeal. His appreciation extends beyond just the amenities. “The staff is what makes this a perfect choice for those that want upscale living at affordable prices,” Jaegers says. “I have zero complaints. The security and guest video entry system is state of the art.” Property Manager Zina Johnson

Johnson encourages residents of Zionsville, as well as surrounding areas like Carmel and Fishers, to check the property out. “If you’re looking for upscale, community apartments, and are seeking a country-style setting, come see us,” Johnson says.
